I have just come across this video. It is included in your tennis book, but I had not had the chance of seeing you performing it on live on court on RUclips. Thanks for sharing this great tennis ideas for improving our training sessions! Regards!
This is great advice and it reminded of how the Roman soldiers used to train, they always used a much heavier sword in training and so their combat weapon felt really light.
+Timothy Smith The best exercise to practice a correct shoulder turn is throwing a medicine ball using both hands mimicking a backhand. When doing this just remember to keep the shoulders level and rotate without leaning forwards. Hope this helps!
When you do these drills you want to make sure you are swinging as fast as you can so you should not do too many repetitions. Choose one of the drills and spend about 15 minutes on it. I usually do sets of 6 to 8 reps of everything. That is 6 to 8 throws, 6 to 8 weighted racquet swings, 6 to 8 swings at the ball, etc. Do the exercises as fast as possible, then rests and recover and try again.
I'm definitely going to try this. A 3.5 player and takes about a year or more to break a string. There is a cement wall on the courts I frequent, that should work for the medicine ball and lead tape should work for the heavy racquet. What size medicine ball is recommended?
Thanks, I was trying a 12 pound ball and was thinking a little heavy for tennis. Probably good for bowling though. Thanks for the help. I think I will just weight up an old racquet too for swinging.
Thanks for sharing. I've been practicing a version of same with wrist weights after a colleague introduced me to your technique. Would that work in your opinion? Please let me know.. Thanks again and love from India!
+Manu Anand For these drills to work you need to make sure you are swinging as fast as possible. The idea of the weights is not bad as long as you can swing very fast with the right technique. Good luck!

I am trying to work on relaxing my arm more to swing faster . I think this is a very good video.
I am confident it will help you swing more relaxed. Good luck!

I get really good results with this particular drill. Helps with their balance immensely.

I like the shoulder turn I'm seeing on the backhand side. I need a tip to improve mine.

Thank you. I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention. I'll incorporate that into my exercise.
This is perfect for what I am trying to teach right now. I just ordered a good medicine ball for my daughters/students. Thanks!
What kind of weight do you put in the heavy racket. I could not tell from the video.
i love the video. would you recommend all these drills in one power/speed session? how many sets in total?

Depending on your strength between 4 and 8 pounds. It has to feel a bit heavy but you should be able to throw it hard

Mastifffriend 12 pounds is too heavy. Adding weight to an old racquet is a good idea.

Her forehand would be as fluid as her backhand if she tracked the ball longer with BOTH hands on the racquet. Then drop and pull.
Is she on all fruit plant based diet
