+EdgarGiffenig Sir,does it mean that wrist and forearm are the prime accelerators and elbows, shoulders ,hips, legs supplement it? Does this principle appll for ground strokes, service, volleys? Please elaborate,Thanks
Nilkanth Deshpande In all strokes, when you look at them from a bio mechanical perspective, there is a summation of forces from the feet to the racquet. The idea is that all segments of the body contribute to the swing but the speed of the different segments combines allowing the last segment to move the fastest. Just like a whip. The tip travels the fastest. These drills teach the players how to use the last segments to allow a smooth transfer of force. Hope that clarifies it.
This drill will improve your speed since the liquidity becomes more but you need to have a technical correct forehand this drill will then make it powerful.Very interesting. But I am not ok with wrist flicking.Good video
wunderfull ideas for the advanced players developing the hand skill, Thank's a lot for the vid ;) by the way, how many nets a year do you break with your students ? ;) grats to your students !! a lot of control, after so many years of practicing the "losing control"of the head racket. Have fun :) and train hard ;)
I like this, just one thing.. in the last part of the video both players are accelerating the balls from the baseline but they are starting the swing very low, if that's the case, gravity is not helping them with the acceleration because they are lifting the weight of the racquet plus the weight of the ball unless they are training to get a stronger arm. Gravity is suppose to help them if they prepare backwards and high. Good video though
Hi Luis, In tennis to hit the ball hard you have to use topspin for control. Therefore, when you are working on racquet acceleration you need to work on hitting low to high to make the ball rotate forward.
I’m an ex-ATP trainer and semi-professional player and I use it every tournament before my opponent comes out if I arrive before him. I’m never embarrassed. Practice it in private first if you are.
wow brilliant! I hope you actually paid for and own the net! It is selfish to be doing this in a club or public court. No it doesnt do it harm i hear someone say... ... ya right, try that for every player out there and see how long your net last. Selfish people will justify everything and say live a little... until they have to pay for it. dumb. I wish the ball came at me at that speed lol
Yeah but not just wrist itshelf.... shoulder then elbow then wrist... all in one mechanic... then later using body with thigh, hip and waist.. then left shoulder and the hitting pattern also important..
Absolutely agree. These exercises are just meant to emphasize the last segment of the kinetic Chain. Other exercises focus on other parts of the swing.
Ron, have a look again. A wrist is in fact not "used" with power/force. This video is about using the momentum of the racquet rather than muscle-power.
They shouldn't use the wrist???what create racket speed?where does most of the power comes from?why they shouldn't use the wrist?a loose wrist is technically incorrect?
You must be thinking old style or like a beginner. I’m a x-ATP trainer and High Performance coach and I believed like you. . . From the late 1970’s until the early 2000’s. Modern tennis uses a bit of wrist. It’s the final link in the kinetic chain. You’re right to an extent. Too much wrist and you lose control. Firm wrist is very consistent, but slow. You have to balance the two.
Great! One of the best tennis hints I've ever met. Congratulations!
Glad you find it useful!
Excellent drills Edgar, keep going.
Glad you find it useful!
@@GiffenigTennis Very useful coach.
Hi Claudio, if you like my videos you will enjoy my books Developing high performance tennis players and Play tennis with passion. Best of luck!
Absolutely right. Ultimately what strikes the ball is a racquet head and faster it moves-more the speed, power. Very nice and a core drill
Thank you for your comment!

Excellent coach .
Great stuff. I'll use these.
Great drill - thank you for sharing!

You are right! You do need to have a solid technique to benefit from these exercises>

excellent tips, I need to do this
Glad you like them. Try it out!
+vishal sharma Try it out. It will definitely help you get the feel for swinging the racquet head faster. Good luck!
thanks !!
I have a OH backhand tho... Haha that seems like the first two would be challenging bc of that
You should be able to do all the drills with a one handed backhand. Work on using your forehand and your wrist.

EdgarGiffenig that's what I thought, thanks for your time.
"Racket Head Speed" answers my doubt !
Wow..you steel my drills!!!
Doing the first tip in public would be funny and embarassing, but I will give them a go.
+Misha Humayune good luck!

Let's translate your book into japanese, contact me, also would love to get you over here, I give clinics and seminars myself here in japan, thanks.
Thank you Daniel, will contact you!

Using a wrist like that is a wrong method..
Not sure what you are referring too, but in order to accelerate the wrist has to move.

Just have to be careful they don't end up using only the wrist...
What a bunch of crap. Ask Nick Bolettieri if they teach this crap against the net at the IGM tennis academies........I don't think so.
You're encouraging them to use the wrist when they hit...horrible mechanics being taught right there
