- A closer look at Aaron's lab71 Cannondale Supersix Evo...is this the ultimate road bike dream build? The 2023 lab71 Supersix Evo 4 frame has been built up with a Zipp 353 NSW lightweight carbon wheelset, 28mm Vittoria Corsa Pro tyres, the same as Jumbo Visma riders Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard Jumbo Visma are using in the 2023 Vuelta.
Other details include Betterbolts titanium bolt kit, Raceware mounts, a Selle Italia X Dallara saddle and MomoDesign integrated cockpit.
Aaron also had to choose between Shimano Dura-Ace vs Sram Red AXS opting for the latter with oil slick Sram Red cassette and flat top chain.
Is this the best road bike that money can buy in 2023? Let us know in the comments below as well as any components that you would change...

A head to head Lab71 vs SL8 would be great.
Coming soon!
Was the weight of the bike with this build mentioned in the video and I've missed it please?
These 2 bikes are the ones on my short list so i wholeheartedly agree!
The "Lab 71" just means they didn't let the lower paid workers build it. They were probably out on vacation or something that day
I'd guess their very close to each other
A real beauty! Well done sir! One of the nicest builds i have seen in a long time.
paint job is awesome, the lume green reminds me of segans old cannodale frames
The Ox Blood is my favourite colourway of the Lab71 offerings. I don't like that it's so hard to buy. I'll most likely end up getting an SL8 next year due to how difficult it is to buy a Lab71. Kudos to anyone who manages to buy a Lab71.
Beautiful bike/build, love the paint!!!
A comparo between lab71 and sl8 would be nice.
bike journalism must pay dentist level monies
I also can’t afford to worry about the “visual drama” of my groupset:)
I’m not rich, but I don’t these bikes are exactly financially stratospheric either.
Dude if these bikes are unobtanium with your finances, you really need a better job. Or should have spent less time cycling and more time studying.
@@slowcyclist4324 the lab71 bikes are like 15000€. Not everyone can afford to spend more than 10000 on a bike
It’s all about your value to dollar. I drive a 9 year old car where as most my friends and neighbors buys new car every 4 years, but I use the money saved to buy some really nice bikes as I spend more time on the bike than in a car.
I’ve seen people easily drop as much on a season of skiing or a nice vacation or even a golf membership yearly dues.
@@runl6117geez, most can't afford to spend 10k either. But if you're in the industry of reviewing bikes and nice bikes, surely you can afford to SAVE for a super nice 15k bike. You don't know what sacrifices they made, don't pressume it was an easy purchase for them.
Gorgeous ride. Enjoy
And here Im with my Cad8 tiagra set up
Beauty! Absolute beauty! Glad you were aesthetic enough to avoid the beluga SL8!
I am still riding my Cannondale 2.8 with a Campy Super Record Group...from the early 90's and I get comments every time I ride it:-)
Comments about how terrible it is? Time to upgrade, friend.
That’s a stunning bike!
Looks awesome 😃😃 love the added colour 😊 🚴🏻👍🥇 I’d love it with Campagnolo mechanical 😃😃 Pete
I have the same bike but with DT Swiss 1100 arc wheels and prologo saddle. A dream of a bike. Have been riding it for 4 months now. I am still surprised everytime to feel how it cuts through the headwind, moves through the corners and goes when you want it to go. Great taste 😉👍
Gorgeous bike! Love the green accents
Beautiful
excellent build
A dreamer's bike! What is that wonderful slick little rear light on it?
Thanks Aaron for sharing the features of your new bike....Now it's your turn Jamie to showcase your sl7 being a fan of works.
Im a purist so l love my colnago c64. Although that lab71 is very nice and way better looking than an sl8.
As a dogma F MyWay rider I really have some issues when I see a LAB71 in the wild 👻👻👻
It's fascinating how working class that was. It's not about riding the bike it's about the identity of the glitter paint and the shape of the derailleur. It's a Cannondale.
Nice bike dude.
What a beautiful bike and well though out bike spec. But the Zipp makes it very cheap looking in the wheelsset area. Get some Princeton Peak 4550... To make it perfect!!!
Most important detail. Tanned sidewalls on the tires.
He should have bought a second one for me. Beauty!
I love my Cannondale CADD 10 with SRAM Force!! I don't have the money for a LAB 71 but loved the video!!
I opted for the new Cannondale Evo4 Hi-Mod frame in black. There was no chance for me to get a lab71 frame in black in my size 51 here in Germany. I didn`t like the paintjob of this grey Lab71, which would have been available. My build is with Vision Metron 5D ACR handle bar and Vision 45SL wheels, Schwalbe Pro One in 28. Dura Ace group, but a Rotor crank (much lighter). Berk saddle, which is the best saddle I ever had (comfortable, but weighs only 90g padded). Weight of my bike is 7.0 kg with Look padels and two Elite Leggero bottle cages.
Bro your bike build is almost my dream bike! I would like to hear more about the experience with vision 45 sl wheelset and rotor aldhu carbon crankset(if you are using this one)
I had to buy my size 51 LAB71 frame set from UK, only there I found availability. And i live in Greece.
@@EvagorasMichalis Yes, availability is a big problem here in Europe. I'm from Germany and got my frame from France.
@@junkailu5450 Hey, the Rotor crankset is a dream. Works fine with Shimano components and shifting is as smooth as with the Shimano cranks. Weight gain over the Dura Ace part is about 150 grams with the carbon crank arms.
About the wheels I can't tell much. They are very comparable to the Hollowgram 45 wheels. Run very well and at speeds of 80kph (my maximum) downhill they give me a very safe feeling. Weight gain over the Hollowgrams is about 200 grams for both wheels. I can recommend them.😊
@@ram5672 Thanks for your feedback, there isvery little information about them, your reply is so informative to me
U had me till "hookless"
What a beauty! Really love the build. Personally I couldn't switch from Shimano due to the superior shifting and braking but the bike is a stunner. Would love to compare with the SL8
Look out for that review coming soon!
AFAIK a groupset's business is to shift and brake. That means Shimano. I do actually like the simple shifting on the SRAM REDs, but this is also a downside. The processor has to wait some precious milliseconds to wait if there is a second trigger, which would then mean to move the front derailleur instead. It became slightly better with the newer model, but still is nowhere near the directness of the DuraAce. And the braking is so much better on Shimano, there can hardly be a doubt. If you NEED that is another question, but it's nice to have it.
Speaking about esthetics, yes, the Shimano DuraAce front derailleur isn't my favorite either and the new RED chain just looks awesome. But the brakes? They look quite cheap and fragile, I think Shimano wins. However, this all doesn't count much.
Regarding a comparison with the SL8, well, I guess it would be more appropriate to compare the Cannondale with the SL7 when it comes to weight, stiffness, comfort and climbing abilities. But let's stay tuned.
1:46 I was nervously expecting him to say 'Cannondale say the green might save a few watts'🤭🤭🤭
They do, don't they?🤣
Loving the sign in the background…..
Amazing, would only change the bottle cage
Beautiful………..
Don't change anything. The bike is lovely.
My guy checked every option box on this build
There is some mental gymnastics going on here about the fugly colour, so yea personality and heritage, through the only non black version of the frame you can buy by itself. And the groupset ,lack of visual drama, which is how I think most people choose their groupsets, right? 😀
I would trade in my Aethos for this Supersix Evo.
But fellas, strictly NO cycling, skateboarding, rollerblading, ball games.
40g, but it's the nameplate that's special....I'd take the standard one and paint the moniker on with a sharpie. Paintjob makes it about worth it.
Would like to see a comparison between this bike and the tarmac sl8
I'd get that Sram off and put Dura Ace back on and get those hookless wheels off quicker than you could blink. Cannondale need to improve their paint. I own 2 Cannondales but feel they need to learn from Trek and Specialized. That colour is horrendous. As long as he likes it though I guess.
I prefer red bikes, but this is gorgeous.
How much does it weigh? Looks featherlight
for that price you could get a nice custom made Sarto,or Parlee etc - in a years time it will be worth a fraction of the price
Trek Madone SLR Gen 4 Next Please :)
Great to film a bicycle video in a location where this strictly no cycling 🤣
The office 😢
So is Lab71 just the new Black Inc for cannondale?
Does a good looking bike ride better than one that has been engineered thoughtfully?
It would be faster if it had a speed sniffer
I got the exact same frame, but cannot find the SystemBar R-One anywhere, any suggestions where to look for it???
@EvagorasMichalis ALSO, THEY ARE NOW ON THE CANNONDALE WEBSITE!!!
I took my stem apart and tried to put it back together but the top bolt has nothing to screw into plz help
what is the weight again?
so when will we have the clash of the road titans. spec sl8 vs canondale ssevo
Very soon!
Whats the frame size and the weight? Thanks :o)
54cm and 6.9kg without pedals
15k they fucken crazy
"is this the ultimate road bike?" yeah definitely never heard that before....
Strangely enough ZERO mention of any price. Us mere mortals would love to know how much aaaaaaaaaall of this amounts to
Why? So you can complain about how much it costs because you will never afford it even though you pissed away $20,000 on beer over the last 10 years?
Weight? No freehub sound test? :(😊
6.9kg without pedals, you’ll have to wait for the freehub!
“The expensive ones!”
What about this bike is ‘budget’?
Hes never worn out pedals because he never rides the bike. He just looks at it im sure.
Now it would be something to see someone say they wish they didn't buy it. Who's going to admit they just waisted $15,000 USD?
No one, because the bike is simply amazing.
Changing groupsets just for aesthetics is ridiculous. An extra couple of grand for a 40 gram lighter frame is stupid. The gear ratios are more suited for mountain biking. The full carbon saddle will be comfortable for 5 minutes. Vittoria tires are fast but the least durable clinchers out there. I suppose the wheels are ok, and I agree 140mm rotors front and back are all you need. Don't mean to be a hater, I want an evo4, but this build does not tick any boxes.
Nowhere near as sexy as old school straight top tube Supersix Evos.
Yea! I need straight top tubes. I was for long cheering on cannondale who kept the traditional frame look for the longest. Frame manufacturers are under lots of pressure to follow market demands.
Colour of the bike could be better
Only one bottle cage...and they talking the whole time about the light weight components and finally the weight of the bike is not named, and a price tag would be interesting in these times...not the best video in my mind
Watch a rabbit run out in front of you on a training ride. You'll wish the bike was cheaper
Hookless 😬😖😵😁
Aesthetics and weight savings aside, these one piece bar/stems don't make any sense.
Cannondale have 70 other labs that don't exist. What a stupid name. Like specialized having S-Works as a higher tier quality. What BS.
LAB71 == Charge more for bullshit.
building up my lab71 to reach 6.9kg with zipp 454nsw's!! Need to get THM crankset paired with carbon TI chainrings to achieve my goal 🥹
I am a more stealth bike guy 😁 well you will not miss this bike 🫥
