We spend so much money and energy heating and cooling entire buildings, just so we can heat or cool our own bodies indirectly. But in extreme temperatures, it makes a lot more sense to heat or cool our bodies directly. During the last heatwave, I put some sweatbands in the fridge, which really helped keep me cool. So I was wondering if devices like this could work.
Thank you, Paul! I run this RANVOO business and your video just made me awned as if I saw my own product for the first time. As tech guys ourselves, we couldn't depict those specs and functions in such an entertaining way. Job well done!
@reefye007 if you haven’t already, I’d recommend contacting Team Ineos and Team Jumbo Visma or Team Education First pro cycling teams as they all invest in various technologies to cool riders down before Tour de France stages (ice jackets etc.) and heating devices for after mountain-top finishes in particular.
Blimey, your editing on that intro is next level, mate! Apparently, that’s what the kids say. Except maybe the blimey… I’m staggered at this device though. I’ve seen neck fans and they look about as capable of cooling you as a mouse blowing over an ice cube. But this thing looks like it’s had everything you’d ever need thrown at it! I’d have it just for the cooling feature (I tend to run hot, like a Triumph Stag), and as I have sleep apnoea, the blood oxygen doodad would be very useful too. Even those speakers, quiet as they are, would be great for having some white noise playing quietly to help me nod off over the racket of my tinnitus. I realise as I type this that I sound like I’m very broken. I am, this is just the thin end of the wedge. I won’t lie, I’m tempted. Very tempted. It would be a sleep aid that won’t annoy the missus (unlike having the fan on or having Alexa playing rain noises). Damn it, why did I have to spend all my money on stupid stuff?
Thanks mate. I enjoyed shooting this one, the device just looks super pretty so I ended up spending soooooo much time taking video of it. 😂 Definitely a good device for helping you sleep I reckon, but only if you sleep on your back, I would be afraid of snapping the cable in it when I rolled over. The arms on it are pretty sturdy though and the device itself would *probably* survive, though it might feel uncomfortable to roll on it and I think that would wake you up.
When I first got it I was like "I am never going to use this screen, why have they included it", and then I realised that you do tend to use the screen to set the thing up before putting it on rather than get your phone out your pocket. Must admit, I haven't used it for the weather though! We already know that living in this country the answer is "bland"

Excellent video as always, Paul! I was visiting the UK last week when I watched this from my hotel. Right after, I walked along the Thames and laughed as the only thing I could think of was "not enough yachts"
Definitely going to look into this for my daughter. She can't regulate her body temperature on her own and we end up just avoiding going out when it's too hot or too cold.
I can’t believe I am ahead of the pack on this device. After buying just the neck fan a couple of years ago I bought a cheap version of one of these last year as I couldn’t face spending all that money on a top spec one if it didn’t work…well it worked a treat for that 2022 ultra hot summer. Being a “woman of a certain age” I used it all through the winter as well (my heating bills are very low).It doesn’t work any more so I am tempted to get a more robust one and hope it lasts longer.
This thing feels really well built. Obviously I haven't pulled it apart, but it screams of quality which is why I enjoyed shooting that intro so much. I could get my macro lens right up close to thing and there are just zero flaws in it. It looks beautifully made, at least from a layman's perspective!

I think perhaps, you might not have this particular issue, but I happen to have a full head of hair with an albedo somewhat close to Black 2.0. This might truly help in those situations where my brain is overheating. "It works... It really works...": I can understand your surprise. This might be great for motorcyclists in hot weather! It's unbearable on a motorbike when it's really hot and you stop at the traffic lights, then the heat for the engine comes up your helmet in to your face. Might give one of these a try. I've been hoping for an AirCon Helmet but this might be the next best thing.
Really would like this as I struggle in hot temps (or even warm ones. I've got the fan on behind me now), but at present it's only selling from Amazon US and throw in the shipping fees and duty it's a lot more expensive. Great video Paul, some nice little touches. Whatever you were doing when you scripted this one, do it again. Did like that the fly now has flapping wings !! Also, the fact that in the UK people break out the AC and the shorts once the temp hits 20 is pretty hillarious but true. I was there for "Spring" ( hahaha ) this year, with my quilted down jacket.

I hope they release a more straightforward version of this. No display, no speakers, no BT, no AI, just give me the same cooling functionality and a few knobs to control the temp and fan speed.
Hello, my friend, well noted. I run RANVOO business. We are working on a LITE version next year with core functions as you mentioned remaining, of course, lower in price. Thank you for your support!
I was initially concerned that this was something to wear, front to back, in your pants. I can now see that once the software is perfected they will be able to freeze your neck remotely so the size of the explosive charge can be reduced. I can see this in gyms once it comes down to £200.
Ive got a simpler peltier neck cooler I use on occasion, though a damp cooling towel around the neck seems to work similarly with the caveat that you of course get your shirt's collar damp. That said, my cheap little cooler seems to do the trick of taking the edge off in mildly higher heat. Struggles past a certain point (the heat cant dissipate as well off the back of the peltier I imagine)
Good video... Looks like a great product though my thoughts about the display is that while it's seems good for controls the fitness info seems useless unless someone else is telling you what they say since you can't see your heartrate when it's around your neck.
This looks cool, I spend a lot of time in VR and being in a room with a PC throwing out a ton of heat and an LCD strapped to your face can get pretty toasty. I would like to see a dumbed down version without the bells and whistles (such as the speakers, LCD Bluetooth, fitness stuff etc ) that’s cheaper for those who don’t want that. I’d consider buying it if they did that. £300 is a little steep.
Yep, I sim race in VR, and my room is often 30 degrees by the end of a race. A basic neck fan helps, but this device looks great, if it wasn't for all the unnecessary (for me) features.
They make dumb ones that can't change the temperature for cheap but I was very interested in the heating. NONE of the other ones I've found offer changeable temperatures. I don't care for speakers, or "AI" (that made me laugh so hard, there's no AI), but why is it so much to ask to just reverse the voltage for heating??
@@danimedina4969 "can't change the temperature" - do you mean by that that they're too weak, or you can't sweet it to keep you at a certain temp, or? Thanks, asking because I want to buy a cheap one is they work at all versus $400 I mean jeez
I was onboard until you told us the price...$400?!?!?! I don't even care for most of its features maybe they should get rid of a lot of the useless shit and lower the price, £80-£100 I'd consider it, but at that price I'll stick to my little neck fan that cost me like £10
Great vid! Do you figure they could stay in place while running like a few k without being annoying? In my part of Canada gets over 30c and below -10c so I can see runners like me being interested. A bit steep, but if they stripped out the fitness and music stuff and released just the temperature and ai stuff, I could see a price point.
It might be ok for England. Maybe. But here in Australia, at Christmas, when it’s 50°… You can get a real a/c for the A$500 they want for it here in Oz. But hey, you made some content out of it. So it was at least good for that.
Did you state the charge time? I could see someone who works outside 8 hours a day wanting to know if a recharge mid-day would give you another full cycle.
Good shout. I don't think I included that. I keep it on charge, so I only have one experience of recharging it and I remember it taking at least 4 hours, but I'm not sure what it was plugged into at the time. I think it was my brother in laws charger. I think Ranvoo probably have it written in the spec on the website somewhere.
I am trying to run some experiments in my house about how to best reduce AC costs comparing curtains to window tint and I would like to be able to track and map out room temperature over a number of days. I don't yet have anything connected to be electrical meter or fuse-box like emporia vue and would like to avoid it if possible. I'm trying to keep the cost for running the experiment down as much as possible. What do you think would be the cheapest and most efficient way to track and record room temperature?

Struggles past a certain point (the heat cant dissipate as well off the back of the peltier I imagine)
Good video... Looks like a great product though my thoughts about the display is that while it's seems good for controls the fitness info seems useless unless someone else is telling you what they say since you can't see your heartrate when it's around your neck.
very interesting except for the price
Thanks for the video. In heat mode do the fans blow warm/hot air?
Yes. The fans aren’t that powerful in cooling mode and you mostly rely on the cold strip but they are stronger in heat mode.
Video into was amazing. Also the scientist guy looked like Stanley Tucci. Maybe a career change as a body double if all else fails 😉
Cool!
Literally... *angry man enters the chat... FIGURATIVELY!!!
It looks like something from star wars, the fella off the mining ship, has stuck to his head., in the mining city, where lando betrays solo.
That is a brilliant use case! I hadn't thought of that!
Dident know why i recognized Paul at first, but at the since part... im lika aha. Im glad jonny sins have started a tech youtube
I was onboard until you told us the price...$400?!?!?! I don't even care for most of its features maybe they should get rid of a lot of the useless shit and lower the price, £80-£100 I'd consider it, but at that price I'll stick to my little neck fan that cost me like £10
The blood oxygen would be more useful for people with asthma than heart issues. Its would be fairly useful.
Morning!
Morning dude!
It's a A(L)ice band
Very cool. Get it? Lol. Great video!
What good is a touch video that you can’t see while wearing it? 🤔
You use it to make major adjustments before you put it on. It's helpful if you don't have your phone to hand.
I get the feeling that those head explosion's are not real. You always seem to grow a new one for the next episode 😅
Is there any vibration from it ? Some people with medical implants can be very sensitive to vibrations
It would be great if you had a full face motorcycle helmet and could say if it works or not with that on.
Age = 26!!!
Must have been a hell of a paper round!
(Love your work Paul!)
How dare you! Me and all the other mid twenties will write a strongly worded letter about this!
Us in our mid 40s probably won't understand with your emojeys and meemees
I'll stick with my misting fan
Not sure I want to ask what these hot flashes are that people experience - sound very different from hot flushes :P
Love your stuff just one thought/question when you talk about charging cables could you let us know what type? After all micro usb sucks.
There are several shot that show that it's USBC
Thanks dude 😊 as Fonix says, it is USB-C
everytime u do a review the items are unavailable
There is a big green "buy now" button right below the "in stock" sign when I go to the link 🤷
I mean at $400 usd I have to use it all the time for it to be worth it.
Hi bro, help me to understand, can that thing cool a small room, size of a single person tent ?
I am trying to run some experiments in my house about how to best reduce AC costs comparing curtains to window tint and I would like to be able to track and map out room temperature over a number of days. I don't yet have anything connected to be electrical meter or fuse-box like emporia vue and would like to avoid it if possible. I'm trying to keep the cost for running the experiment down as much as possible. What do you think would be the cheapest and most efficient way to track and record room temperature?
Probably home assistant, and a couple of temperature sensors either end of the room to get an average. 😊
The global link in the description is broken for me, it somehow adds "($50 " to the link.
What's weird is that it's the second time I've corrected this!! Thanks man. I've now added the discount code to the next line.
@@paulhibbert Yeah, that kind of stuff happens. Can confirm it works now.
Does this work well enough to assist those who work outdoors to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter?
Thats the idea isn't it and for walking, and general loafing around
I laugh at that on the fly bit every damn time .. its a shit joke but dammit it still makes me laugh !!!
