Hi Paul,, This video comes at a great time for our family. Dad is getting older (94) so I see a few applications/ devices that could make life easier for him. I think aged care resources will be a great path for home automation to go down - I like the LinknLink eMotion Sensor as I think we can get lights to come on as he heads to the loo at night. What globes would we put in the light fittings to work with it?
You are costing me money as I love new shiny tech....Got the TV lights, Link n Link and Aqara FP2 after watching your videos they are all fantastic devices. The TV Light, well "It just works"
Not sure who drew up the comparison table from 4:59, but Homey Pro for sure supports Zigbee and Z-Wave Plus. Even the previous version was doing so. (Most likely this has already been said a dozen times...)
I’ve tried the HDMI sync boxes. They often added lag to the platform if they worked, and most of the time the signal didn’t get passed through properly and the video didn’t work.
I have three of the Candeo dimmers (sans faceplate) that I fitted to our stainless switch plates in kitchen, diner and a bedroom. They are faultless and haven’t glitched or drawn attention in over a year. Very good and quick support too! Just fitted an FP2 yesterday…after procrastinating for a while, even after your vid. It’s a bloody godsend that thing. Does this make me cool and groovy?
Do you think/know if the LinkLink ISG will be compatible with Aqara as well? This would be handy, as I too am moving more and more into the Aqara system, but it doesn’t interstate with Hubitat 😢
Happy Saturday Paul, for me hands down the Candeo was the must get item of 2023. Planning to do all the lights in the house with them. It was great to see “oh the Zigbee” back again.
What is the name and brand of the amber colored light that is displayed on a shelf on the wall as you demonstrate how the sensor turns on the lights in your studio when you walk into the room?
I got the LinknLink eMotion Presence sensor and so far I have not been able to get it to detect me just sitting there. Unless I'm constantly moving around it looses me. It's definitely a much better solution than a PIR detector, but I think it's a bit of a misnomer to call it a human presence sensor since most people think about the mmWave level of presence detecting with that phrase as opposed to the way a PIR would technically be a presence senor.
It is using mmWave I believe! Have you tried moving it to a different position? Apparently it’s radar is emitted from the part with the logo on it, so you may need to just tilt it to face your seated position
That LinknLink gateway looks amazing, it almost seems to cheap to be true, so I’m a little worried about it underperforming speed wise, but excited to see your review!!
Hi Paul, an idea for a video, do you know of any IoT devices that can be trigged by Alexa/Google etc or your mobile so that when you door bell rings (on your phone app), you can trigger an outside gate solenoid to open a gate (I have one like this!). Its currently hard wired to a rubbish manual video door entry system (destined for the bin!). There must be something that does this??
Will the govee backlights work if your tv isn't flat to a wall? Mine is at an angle in the corner of my room on a table, so i'm wondering if they'll still look good?
All we used to need was a garage remote control.. and that didn't track us or collect our data or need to be connected to a service via a cell phone app.. when no one needed to carry a phone every where they went, as if their calling the enterprise for a beam up.. when any one is only checking the messages.. their not getting. No one needs that many gadgets.. as why are they not in every ones house, because of renting.. and an electricity bill that everyone wants to keep low.
You are clearly very poorly educated on the subject. Also you sound 100 years old when you say "in my day we didn't need cell phones" when we're you born 1895??
I had a govee immersion system but gave it to a friend because my wife hated "the camera hanging there". 🙄 Anyway, you can use a sync box as a passthrough between the TV & a fire stick or Android box. Yeah it seems kinda silly if your TV is already smart but it is possible.
@@blissweb someone here on YT did a video where they detached the camera and "concealed" it in a rock garden of sorts in front of their TV. Of course, that comes with it's own set of drawbacks such as if your TV is wall mounted and your level of confidence in disassembling the camera arm.
Zigbee and wifi dimmer plug "currently unavailable!" You just posted this video an hour ago so guess you dont mind teasing your faithful followers! You are very very right, no one makes a dimmer smart plug and apparently still no luck. AND i have to ask, do they make a zigbee north america version?
I have an FP2 and I'd love it and want to put them all over the house however after mucking about setting up a routine to turn on the TV, turn on certain lights and switch to Sky News in the morning if I sat on my side of the sofa before 8am, I came down the following morning to find one of my cats sat on my seat taking in the mornings top stories. Weirdly it picks up the biggest and smallest cat but not the medium size cat who is now nicknamed stealth cat as we think it's cause she's totally black and the rader doesn't pick her up (like a stealth bomber lol).
How about a video of the top five 2023 devices that are still used daily in your new house. So, many of these shiny new gadgets get relegated to the drawer of shame, because they, don't consistently work, not really useful long-term, the significant other hates it, .... What really "just works".
Has anyone ever mistaken you for the real Bezos and complained about their Amazon delivery? I am very tempted by that £20 radar presence detector (though I wish is was Zigbee not WiFi). Channeling the Yacht Collector, maybe you could rise to the following challenge: I have the bathroom lights and fan controlled by separate Zigbee switches and I can control them (laboriously) via Alexa app or (unreliably) by Alexa voice. Please show me an Alexa routine to make the fan switch on and off with the presence detector and the lights also, but only between sunset and sunrise. Don't make me learn Home Assistant!
Loved the video Paul and Neesha, cos I know she helps with the editing. 👍🏻 I shall have a look at the items that you mentioned today and see if there is anything that I am interested in. Had some problems in my estate, which is always quiet, and I have just recently acquired a new security camera.
The LinknLink ISG doesn't have Z-Wave (sorry, Zed-Wave). Well that is just silly. 50% of my devices are Z-Wave wall switches... Otherwise I probably would have supported the Kickstarter campaign just out of curiosity...
I took the bait, from the master :), and bought a couple of LinkNLink eMotion sensors. Honestly I am disapointed. It doesn't appear to be any more sensitive than my old philips motion sensors. It is certainly not in the same league as the Aqara sensor, and like so many we are all waiting for something that can do presence detection sitting on a sofa and not moving, this isn't it. It's a shame, but its important to know all radar sensors are not made the same!
I bought the link n link thing - and it does sod all for me. May be my brain is offline, quite possible but I really wish I hadn't bothered with it. Too much trouble to set up. You are so convincing I'm thinking of the kickstarter, but, I was so disappointed with the thing I actually bought that I'm hang back - a lot.
Nice of you to give a shout out to a patron by name. And nice to see the Zigbee thrust back. It looked a little painful for you....but thanks for suffering for us!
Last time I looked at the ISG kickstarter campaign, there were only 42 backers, and that bothered me. Now I look and there’s 66 backers and I note some pledge cancellations and a since resolved copyright issue from Homey, who even push their own product in the comments section! I suspect this isn’t going to hit its target. Seems a shame, as it looks like it could be a good product. I’m still tempted to back it, but there’s that niggling voice telling me to avoid it. If it was that impressive, surely it would’ve had way more backers by now. Or am I just overthinking it?
@@paulhibbertI hope so, I backed it. This is pretty much exactly what I need, and let's my be lazy, and not actually setup home assistant. Hopefully they can see where their backers come from. They are up about 70 backers since my pledge, and up to about half funded. Seems a bunch of that is today.
@Paul Hibbert Thi i the first time I hear you mention Homey as comparison (ca 5min in video), but the comparison chart shown is incorrect. Homey Pro does also has z-wave and zigbee onboard, the same as the bridge where you do have ticket that box. Maybe it is time that you actually test/review a Homey Pro.....
Great video, as always. The LinknLink Gateway looks very interesting. How embarrassed were you about the lady giving you ZigBee thrusts in the Supermarket? 😂
I don’t want to evoke your wrath, Paul but let’s talk about hdmi sync boxes for a second. Would it be possible to split or duplicate an hdmi signal using some kind of adapter so you can use the hdmi sync box together with the tv at the same time? I dunno if it’d work but it might be worth thinking about. 🤷🏻♂️
Homey Pro has both ZigBee and Z-Wave support and is a great hub (pricey though...). Still it's only those who do nothing that make no mistakes, I suppose ;)
Another great vid, any chance you could do a video on smart tech from Ali express/temu ? I'm on a massive budget so I limit myself to £10 a month and have found some hidden gems, I'm sure they don't hold a candle to the more expensive equivalent, but I won't know the difference. Anyway just a thought! Keep up the good work!
What's scarier for you is that lady is going to watch this vide, hear what you said, and wait for you next time now that she got air time ha. It's nice to be recognized though and have fans, within reason.
so here's a question as ive brought the first and 2nd generation of back lights with the camera and the effect they have given is crap! Is the third one really any better as im 300 quid down from buying the first 2 and never had anything like what you keep showing and saying is awesome when my experience is its not
Sounds like maybe there is some light spilling into your screen that is confusing the camera, do you have anything brightly coloured near the tv that might be reflecting onto it?
Love the Videos Paul, about 2 weeks ago everything disappeared from my Alexa app routines and products. Can I ask you and your viewers if anyone else suffered this? My Wife takes great pleasure in hating the gadgets we currently have ( it really makes life easier& cheaper) but the app crashing didn’t help my cause. Anyone assist or had this problem ( Not the wife thing). 😂
@@paulhibbert Thank you, I did try that immediately, I manage to set up routines back up & reset plugs and add other devices back to the app. ( It was a pain but got there eventually). It’s kinda back up to normal but it was like being hit in the face by a huge wet fish. Making no sense, but really really hurt in the process. Keep up the great work on the videos Paul & I will soldier on.
@rangerwhoisthedanger8159 how strange! The only thing that I can imagine causing that would be if you had changed logins, or changed locales. Amazon has a different server for the us from the uk for example and if you change locale on Amazon and login to Alexa you are faced with an empty panel because you’re now looking at the us server, if you then switch back to the uk all your stuff reappears because you’re now looking at the uk server where all your devices and routines were setup
@@paulhibbert thank you, I don’t believe, I changed any password or location change with the VPN or to the App destination itself. It’s working now but just thought it was odd & wanted to ask, if anyone had the same problems. Now to work on getting those Automated curtain thingies into the front room.
When is Google going to give us local control hubs??? Because buying matter devices mean nothing without matter compliant hubs... Does homekit have local control?!?
Woo hoo! It has been so long since I was masterfully baited by Paul Hibbert! Seriously though, I like that joke, and fully back your continuing to use it.
So why does the HA subreddit almost universally pan the Conbee2 stick? Seriously.. They keep saying it sucks with no actual reasons. Does anyone know why?
I was one of the people that bought the linknlink presence units (5) and I found that it picked up my 13# cat and also had many false "hits". I sent an email to support and never received a reply. BUT keep up the great videos, you rarely steer us wrong.
I had to laugh at the segment about the Govee backlight, I did buy one and it actually was trash (for me) and then I bought a HDMI sync box instead which is amazing, (I never left the original comment but I guess in my experience at least it was correct)
Utterly utterly hilarious at 10:15 the Zigbee women - you’re a real talent! But still not as funny as your DIY video - can’t remember which but I still spontaneously burst out laughing and can’t explain it to the people around me. You’re a total loon 😂
Aqara are a interesting offer but from mu experience they have very bad customer service in the ideea that the G3 camera and G4 video doorbell have A LOT of issues and are very inconsistent.
If that Candeo guy can build a UK retractable switch, I will sing his praises from the roof tops!! Why are other companies not doing what he's doing!?!?

I don’t want to evoke your wrath, Paul but let’s talk about hdmi sync boxes for a second. Would it be possible to split or duplicate an hdmi signal using some kind of adapter so you can use the hdmi sync box together with the tv at the same time? I dunno if it’d work but it might be worth thinking about. 🤷🏻♂️
Masterful bait! 😂
The problem is if you have a smart TV that isn't getting input, there is no HDMI in to split.
Homey Pro has both ZigBee and Z-Wave support and is a great hub (pricey though...). Still it's only those who do nothing that make no mistakes, I suppose ;)
Will it also have local control???
You have me hooked for another year love this channel ❤
Tempted by the kickstarter but shortcut labs burnt me badly so I’ll wait :)
Paul, would love to see you review a few YoLink devices. Love the video!
You're on a massive budget, yet spend only £10, I'm sure you mean a restricted budget dude, am l right ? I am. 😂
You are correct 😅 it should have said "massively restricted budget" my bad 😞
I see a ZigBee thrust, I stop the video to hit the Like button. It's simple physics really.
Enjoyed the video. Wish you’d do a few more reviews on robotic vacuums. I guess it’s boys with toys!
What's scarier for you is that lady is going to watch this vide, hear what you said, and wait for you next time now that she got air time ha. It's nice to be recognized though and have fans, within reason.
The Candeo dimmer has definitely been my favourite this last year, I even managed to install it myself without frying myself or the cats 🤣
so here's a question as ive brought the first and 2nd generation of back lights with the camera and the effect they have given is crap!
Thanks Paul. Happy Saturday.
Waiting for you to review flic twist and completely destroy that scam
😬 well this is awkward: ruclips.net/video/Lboh3kr46Cg/видео.html
Love the Videos Paul, about 2 weeks ago everything disappeared from my Alexa app routines and products.
Can I ask you and your viewers if anyone else suffered this?
My Wife takes great pleasure in hating the gadgets we currently have ( it really makes life easier& cheaper) but the app crashing didn’t help my cause.
Anyone assist or had this problem ( Not the wife thing). 😂
Bizarre! Have you tried logging out and back in again? Failing that uninstalling and reinstalling the app would be my next step
We’ll talking about Corporate greed. Any thoughts on charging a subscription for Alexa?
When is Google going to give us local control hubs??? Because buying matter devices mean nothing without matter compliant hubs...
Does homekit have local control?!?
Woo hoo! It has been so long since I was masterfully baited by Paul Hibbert! Seriously though, I like that joke, and fully back your continuing to use it.
That joke should have never left
So, if I follow one of those affiliate links, I can freak you out with whatever it is I end up buying? Good. Good.
Either it does Matter or it doesn't matter!
just imagine how many subscribers you would have if you would cut out the silliness.
Just imagine how many brain cells you would have if you just stopped smoking crack
@@paulhibbert He said durr whats a a a brian cell 😂
Always love your vids. I made a list... and checking it twice! ... list of your toys of course....
Bought the liknknlink presence sensor - damn you Paul Hibbert! (Thanks for the code and always the awesome funny videos’🎉
Promo code didn’t work for me. Perhaps it was a limited amount to claim.
That candeo smart plug looks like it would go great with my electric blanket. If i die in a house fire, so be it.
At least you'll be warm. 😊
So why does the HA subreddit almost universally pan the Conbee2 stick? Seriously.. They keep saying it sucks with no actual reasons. Does anyone know why?
Paul. You know what your next video should be.
So those 5 items end up being the top affiliate buys of 2024 too :p
Ladybugs or Asian lady beetles... Different things do not squish.
Is it true that Amazon wants to start charging for Alexa use?
Alexa Plus, apparently
Not something Ive heard!! 😳
Supposedly by June.
It's dead if true. Also if they have lost 10 billion last year on it the future does not look good.
@@paulhibbert something about it cropped up on my phone a few days ago.
Utterly utterly hilarious at 10:15 the Zigbee women - you’re a real talent! But still not as funny as your DIY video - can’t remember which but I still spontaneously burst out laughing and can’t explain it to the people around me. You’re a total loon 😂
Hey Paul,
Do you have a recommendation for a zigbee smart plug that's a bit cheaper? Not dimmable. Affiliate link welcome...
All the Kisses from DK.
What abort a seroius review of the new Sonoff IHOST?? - I Just Ordered one...
Aqara are a interesting offer but from mu experience they have very bad customer service in the ideea that the G3 camera and G4 video doorbell have A LOT of issues and are very inconsistent.
Great Video!!
The joke does not get old
The way you say H as "hay-ch" lol
11:00 "Just like the Broadlink sensor". Did you mean LinknLink?
If that Candeo guy can build a UK retractable switch, I will sing his praises from the roof tops!! Why are other companies not doing what he's doing!?!?

We found out that Conbee has a limit of 25 devices. Damn.
It doesn’t. I’ve got 57 connected to mine
