- As I promised, I have finally installed the Hondata Flash Pro into my CTR! It was my first time doing this type of thing, so please bare with the learning process! It will be a longer video, only because I want to make this as raw of a video as possible for first time users like myself to learn from. Hope you enjoy!

Dude I am so glad you made this video. I am about to take a deep dive into the Hondata. I have a brand new 2021. Some bolt ons so I know I’ll need a tune to take advantage of them. Sounds like I’ll be good with just their basic maps they have installed
Your friend said if you needed to take it back to the dealer just flash it back to stock. Is that true?
Glad to hear that!! And yes, just flash it back to stock! My friend had to do it once because he had gotten state reffed before. I’ve had some of my type r guys do it before trading their cars in.
Did you have to buy a tune from somebody or a company online? Or were you able to do all of these modifications with just the jailbreak and the Hondata flash pro? I tried looking online but no one seems to answer that question, and I do not want to waste money purchasing a Phearable Stage 2 tune if I am able to do the calibration and tune myself, including lock it like Phearable does. Is Phearable just an ease of access choice or is something like/similar to it necessary on top of the jailbreak and Hondada flash pro?
Phearable let's you get more than a basmap but it's not based around your motor and lacks the depth that you would get from a dyno tune. It’s just a step up from basemaps. I would honestly save money for a custom dyno tune.

The phearable tune is a step up from doing the basemaps yourself. Honestly, save your money and get a custom dyno tune. That’s just my advice.

In 11:10 part of the video, you select the intake you have in the car? Like you have prl you click in prl HVI?
This part, you’re just verifying that everything that applies to your parts is checked marked. If you input your intake at the part before this one, you’re good.

Another question, sorry I just bought my AWE exhaust and will be getting my PRL intake. Can I get the Hondata now with the jailbreak? So when I receive my exhaust and intake I can add the tunes? My exhaust is backed order until the last week of March
Definitely! Honestly, the flash pro should be everyone’s first mod. Every time you add a new power mod, you can always add those parts and reflash the car.

How did u get rid of the check engine light after install?
Go to 13:20 on the video. If you check mark that part, you shouldn’t get a check engine light. If you already have checked it, I would just drive your car around and it will eventually disappear.
My buddies Type R was totaled. We took out the flashpro and a lot of PRL parts before junking it. Are we able to sell the flashpro used? Or is there something we need to do before we sell the flashpro to someone else with a type R?
Yeah, make sure the flash pro is unlocked on the Hondata software because it’s currently registered to his car. The new owner won’t be able to access it.
Awesome video! One question does the tuning change the way your car sounds? Such as how the exhaust sounds or the turbo sounds when you shift?

Yes you can add them later and reflash your ecu whenever you want to do changes.

Do I need the jailbreak module to plug in aside from the OBD2 port?
If you have a 17-19 fk8, the jailbreak is within the Hondata software and when you purchase if from the Hondata website. It doesn’t need to be plugged unless you have the 20-21 model. You’ll have to by the jailbreak we bypass from Hondata.

No you don’t. You jailbreak only once

Question? Do you need to send your ECU to get jailbroken to use the Hondata?
You do not have to send your ECU to get jailbroken to use Hondata. Before Hondata came out with the Instant Jailbreak, you had to send it to them. But now, you just need the flash pro and the instant jailbreak from their website.

Are you talking about the jailbreak bypass or flash pro itself? I leave my flash pro on for data logging. But you can remove it after you flash your car with the flash pro.

So did you try the improved power from 1st to 2nd gear? And does it continue to the rest of the gears?
Hey! No I have not tried it. It probably only improves 1st and 2nd if you choose that. Just like 3rd and 4th

why did you buy jail break if yours is 18?
You need to buy the instant jailbreak for 17-19 FK8. If you’re talking about the Jailbreaker to temporarily bypass the CAN gateway for the 20-21 models, I didn’t need to get it.

It’s ver risky using something that literally takes over your whole computer system in your car.
Flashpro messed up my stock tune on one of my cars. No matter how many times I flashed it back to stock I had an irregular idle and the only thing that fixed it was getting it tuned professionally
I’m sorry that happened to you. My friend had the same problem when he did it to his CR-Z. But he didn’t know better back then before messing with the settings. He hasn’t bought one since then.
