A locksmith made me wait over six hours then charged me way over a hundred bucks for less than five minutes work when I locked myself out of my house. Hell, didn't need to eat that month anyway. Later, I discovered one of his tools on my porch...gave it to the neighbor who sheltered me! LOL
I had this bad habit of locking my keys in my car and then after a while, I took a coat hanger and bent so I could unlock the door one of two ways. It got to the point where it only took me a few seconds to unlock the door. Being an older car, I kept the hanger under the hood since I could unlock it from the outside.
My brother had a manger that had a problem with men. He says she was _otherwise_ a perfectly competent manager but, she would freak out if any male told her no or disagreed with her in any way. She even got that way with *her* boss, only backing down when he raised his voice, telling her to knock it off. My brother wasn't even in her department and while she was a manager, she didn't actually have much authority over him, which didn't stop her from demanding he stop whatever he was actually supposed to be doing, the things his _actual_ bosses wanted him to do, and do something for her, then she'd flip her lid when he told her no. It finally stopped when he registered a formal complaint about her and she was told to leave him alone. He felt bad for her more than anything because she was otherwise a nice person, she just had problems that were probably not her fault.
Don't talk to VP !... I worked a box store that had the local news doing a holiday segment. The service manager actually went around to everyone and told them. "Do not talk to the reporter ! " I thought that was stupid, what were they trying to hide ? I talked to them anyway. The place did have a reputation of killing off the older people by working them too hard.
When my car got locked and I couldn't get in the locksmith was busy and couldn't make it so they called the cops and they came out and did it for free.
Locksmith story-I only had one key for my car. Well it had an electrical short somewhere and would just randomly lock the doors with no one pushing the lock. I used to start the car to warm it up (NY winter) before I took my kids to school. After having to call for lockout service a couple times I learned how to break into my own car-got pretty good and quick at it. You may be asking why I didn't just get another key made. Well I tried that. Paid for 4 keys to be made and not a darn one worked to open that door. So this 5ft woman standing on a ladder (Chevy Trailblazer SUV) got pretty good at breaking into cars. So good in fact that it made me $20 in a Walmart parking lot. Lady with baby left keys in car. She was parked near me. She didn't have the money to call a locksmith (overheard her talking on her phone) so I offered to take a stab at it for her. I am not your typical female, I love tools-woodworking to be precise. So I had tools in my finicky car. Popped hers in 2 min-didn't have to use ladder. She was so grateful she made me take $20. When I refused payment she handed the money to my 4 yr old.
About the locksmith, in my country most comprehensive car insurance policies (ie. The Insurance policy that covers your repairs and the repairs to what you hit) has a "roadside" service, and some motoring associations do to, they can come to help with dodgy keys, lock-ins, multiple flat tyres, dead batteries... and generally have a "free" windscreen with no excess per year. They do charge for "parts", or excess towing after an accident.
@@nvfury13 Um, no. While the cadence and tone is almost completely the same from one sentence to another, there are too many variables in the reading for it to possibly be a bot. Yeah, there is nothing that pisses me off more than a service like a locksmith who tries charging higher rates due to the weather. It's actually not legal here, but some try to get away with it anyway. Price gouging is unethical, immoral and in many cases unlawful. Check with your state regarding price gouging, it can literally pay to know your rights!!!
The way you open a door that is locked in a car is to pull the rubber around the window and pull up on the bar in the door with a slim jim or coat hanger takes 2 minutes.
I have seen enough repos and tow videos to know two wedges and a coat hanger can get your door pried open and unlocked in 30 seconds. $50.00 for the call out would be generous. Just need the door open enough to put the wire through to unlock the door. I suggest carrying 2 sets of keys. House keys in car keys and car keys on house keys. Locking a set in the car will not ever be an issue.
Locksmith here, using a wedge is amateur hour, we have MCOT tools (Google it for examples) it's basically a W shaped wire, you use a wedge to create a gap between the weather stripping and the window then run the tool down the outside the window, rotate it slightly and pull it up the inside the window, its other end is now inside the car and you can either use it to hit the unlock button or grab the handle in the car and open the door, 40 seconds tops and the car is unlocked, I charge 50 for intown jobs (free if a infant is locked in)

30 seconds to get into the car... damn he's slow. Back when I was a windscreen fitter 24 years ago, if I couldn't get inside your car in 5 seconds, then no one would be able to get into it.
Modern cars have a lot more wires running through the doors now. A lot of tow companies don't even use slim-jims anymore because of it. That and door locks being placed in harder to reach areas.
@@20JK10 Yeah, I know... which is why I said 24 years ago :) And doors these days are all single piece windows in most cars. No quarter panels that you can tap to knock out.

Same here. I was picking up a package from the USPS. I opened the trunk, put my purse down so that I can lift the package from the cart into the trunk. Automatically slammed it shut before I remembered my purse was still inside. I had to walk home, sneak into the house (Dad would have had a cow if he found out about my stupidity) into my bedroom to get the spare key, snuck back out and walked back to the Post Office. Since then, I always wear my purses as a crossover. Ahem.. Lately, I tried to manually lock the car door while getting out but it would pop back up. Oops.. Key is still in the ignition! Imagine a flat, inflatable bag made of strong nylon or some similar material, and with a small hand pump attached to it. This bag is inserted into the seam between the top of the door and the car's roof. The pump is then used to inflate the bag, slightly prying the door away from the car body so that a narrow gap forms. From there you can insert a coat hanger or other tool to reach the car lock and operate it. When used correctly, no damage will occur.
