Dark Side of the Moon is a masterpiece! I'm guessing Pink Floyd is at the top because they began with selling vinyl, then 8-tracks, then cassettes, then CD's, then digital downloads. Not to mention the millions of people who loaned the album to a friend and forgot who they loaned it to.
will we ever see and hear a band again that is as real as Pink Floyd?... they created their own music genre and never failed to deliver a sound that was unique and unlike any other band then or since. nothing was ever produced just for commercial interests and they could reproduce their work live.... any album, all have their place in Pink Floyd history.
I sub to you cause you put Pink Floyd at first. my grandpa passed away when I was really young and I ended up decided to get a sleeve of Pink Floyd tattoo for him still not completed but it is getting there.Thank you for my day R.I.P PAPA I MISS YOU So glad someone made Pink Floyd at number 1
Good to see CCR mentioned but Elton John's GBYBR not there?! I agree with others saying Greatest Hits and Best Of's shouldn't be there. Speaking of Greatest Hits albums, no mention of The Eagles Greatest Hits, one of the biggest sellers of all time.
I knew #1 would be Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. I was a teenager when that LP was out, we used to hang out in each other's basements with the black light posters on the walls, sitting in the dark with the lava lamp on listening to Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Led Zepplin... kicked back smoking weed living that 70s Show life.
@@user-lb8tk5kj7w Only in America and it shouldn't even be considered for recognition (greatest hits). Thriller is the top selling album in the world by far!
I would think the Eagles Greatest Hits , Fleetwood Mac Rumours Album , Boston's Debut Album , or ACDC's Back in Black Album would be on this List . 💫🌟✨🫣🤯👀🤦💥🔥🙃💯🤔🤨🧐😳😶🌫️❤️🔥
The purist in me would prefer such a list that focused on studio albums and disallowed repackaged "Best Of..." and "Greatest Hits" compilations as well as anthologies and boxed-sets
What was the total count free to those records? The *Chicago Transit Authority* album was in the top 20 from 1969 when it came out to 1971, notching over 148 weeks.
Tell that to the record companies. The category is "Longest-running album". Doesn't pick a genre or artist. In that case, Johnny Mathis, of all people, is still in the top 20.
Billboard, Inc. is sorry to inform you that we have made a rather serious calculating error and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon only actually charted for three weeks. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you.
Greatest Hits albums don't count. 1. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (1973)-1000 weeks 2. Metallica - Metallica (1991)-627 weeks 3. Nirvana - Nevermind (1991)-600 weeks 4. Bruno Mars - Doo Wops & Hooligans (2010)-600 weeks 5. Michael Jackson - Thriller (1982)-559 weeks 6. AC/DC - Back in Black (1980)-553 weeks 7. Adele - 21 (2011)-549 weeks 8. Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid m.A.A.d City (2012)-536 weeks 9. Drake - Take Care (2011)-518 weeks 10. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (1977)-514 weeks
Pink Floyd, years not weeks
Clocking up a casual 19 years.
Yup, decades now, not years or months or weeks!
Well like 765 weeks!
More like 4 decades.
Pink who?
Compilation albums do not belong in this category. You can give them their own category if you like, but come on!
Exactly
Agreed!
Very good point.
Right..!
1,000 weeks so far for Pink Floyd.
Did you just say so far!?
@@AudioGAWD Yes, it was certainly on the Billboard Chart last year, possibly this year too.
the 70s still rule
All of that for a shitty album stupid fucking normies
1168 weeks if memory serve
Greatest HITS albums dont really count
They shouldn't, but you know shenanigans
I agree but, people gravitate to the hits rather than the albums. 🤷
Pink floyd been there since 1973 best band ever
Beatles, The Beatles best band ever
And 70s was the clash the only band that matters
No one will ever take over the spot from Pink Floyd
Dark Side of the Moon is a masterpiece!

I have lost at least 4 albums of Floyd..
@@jimmyj2563 Me too! 😅😅
The dangers of friends that come over with weed.
My go to album for skinning up a joint 😅
Eagles Greatest Hits has left the room
Pink Floyd Dark side of the Moon great album love it❤❤❤❤
Rumors was number one in 1977 for 31 non consecutive weeks and stayed in the charts for 1,034 weeks
the 70s music will allways rule tell time ends
The Dark Side of the Moon has been charting non-stop for 51 years. Has Rumours beat big time.
And it couldn't hold a candle to Fleetwood Mac.
Music for empty headed Dopers.@@langm1701

Steve miller band greatest hits is definitely a huge one also

I personally hate that people count greatest hits albums
well, it's still an album, even if it's a compilation.
Good to see CCR mentioned but Elton John's GBYBR not there?!

Dark Side is just….it just IS!!!

Dark side of the moon absolutely sublime 😮
Great choice for number one
not a choice, dsotm has over 1000 weeks on the billboard album chart and will probably never be beaten
FLEETWOOD MAC , SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER AND JOHNNY MATHIS GREATEST HITS !!
A top ten that doesn't contain the beatles, that's refreshing.
Love this! Journey was awesome with Steve Perry.
Playing pink floyd at my funeral. Always my fav band. Plus spent alotvof party time in the 80's chemically altered to them. Lsigh😂
Nr 1 was so easy
What about Eagles Greatest Hits?
Yeah, that’s like the biggest selling album of all time
more 70s sweeeeet
🤮
Steve Perry biggest crush since high-school!
David 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘🎸👑🎸🎸👑🎸🎸👑🎸🎸👑🎸
Grandes hits de las Aguilas salio del top 10 y entro thriller en los últimos años.
METALLICA, HELL YEAH
What a great & diverse group of albums!❤
Well I own two of them including Pink Floyd.
I just bought two collectors editions of Dark side 😊
Wish it had numbers to go along with the list.
When people ask how long the dark side of the moon was in the charts, I answer with Yes
Not really sure that I like "Greatest Hits" albums in the list.
Good choice of transition music, the new Paramore album was awesome
U forgot the Eagles greatest hits
That was my original thought but the Eagle’s greatest hits was the biggest selling album of all time, not the longest on the charts.
@@user-lb8tk5kj7w Only in America and it shouldn't even be considered for recognition (greatest hits). Thriller is the top selling album in the world by far!

They may have even sold more but these are based on weeks charted
Damn! My country man Bob Marley up there.❤
I thought I had heard the Meatloaf Bat out of Hell had been in the top 100 for 10 years
The purist in me would prefer such a list that focused on studio albums and disallowed repackaged "Best Of..." and "Greatest Hits" compilations as well as anthologies and boxed-sets
I saw Robert Fripp in the initial photos and thought WHAT!!?? No such luck.
Eagles? Fleetwood Mac?
THE 70s still dominate
What about Frampton Live??? Awesome!
Pink Floyd, classic! Not the same-old like so many others, but their own distinct sound. Dark Side of the Moon was their best!
It would have been nice if you included the number of weeks for each of them 🤔
Looks like The Wall by Pink Floyd would have been on this list
South Pacific should be on this list.
Michael Jackson thriller is definitely no 2 it's still on the charts as we speak
What was the total count free to those records? The *Chicago Transit Authority* album was in the top 20 from 1969 when it came out to 1971, notching over 148 weeks.
Just an amazing album
1989 by Taylor swift topped the charts for 11 weeks and was certified platinum 9 times by the recording industry in America
Greatest hits albums should count.
Tapestry...1971, Carol King.
I question a lot of these “lists.” I wish they would have included the total number of weeks for each album.
Saturday Night Fever should be on this lost somewhere.
All of them are great i had them eccept for Eminem do not cate for him. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ love them!!!!!! The greatest hits are the best!!!!
Out of curiosity, what about The Beatles #1 hits album and Marvin Gaye's What's Going On???
Pink Floyd Love them 💓
HUGE drop-off from #1 to #2
Would be nice if you gave us the # of weeks. Just a little bit of pertinent info
У многих музыкантов в этом списке были сборники лучших песен, а у Pink Floyd просто альбом
Lots of babies were conceived on the Dark Side of the Moon.
A otro nivel
Oh yeah, Dark side of the moon.
I'm tyler ice swollen members battle axe warriors
The list might be more realistic if disallowed greatest hits.
I would have thought Eagles greatest hits would have been there
ITALIAN FAVORITES-Connie Francis hp#4 81 weeks in the top 100
Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon no surprise. Bruno Mars big surprise, he’s hanging with some heavy hitters.
Pink Floyd Forever ❤️
Pink Floyd is the greatest, ever. Period.
Tell that to the record companies. The category is "Longest-running album". Doesn't pick a genre or artist. In that case, Johnny Mathis, of all people, is still in the top 20.
Thriller was number 1 for years! And eagles greatest hits was number 1 for the century.
Billboard, Inc. is sorry to inform you that we have made a rather serious calculating error and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon only actually charted for three weeks. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you.
Creedence and Bob. Forget the rest.
Abba gol🎉d #1
Pink Floyd is "charting" again, adding to it's total. . . . .
Not a single one of those other nine albums comes close to the music on DSOM.
Except Marley
Wait, it isn't Bob Marley and The Whalers? That changes things.
What happened to the bee gees ?
The Pink Floyd and Thriller and Bruno Mars I understand... I always thought CRR had a cult following.
Saturday night fever, Tapestry , Eagles hits , Goodbye yellow brick road, rumors, Sgt pepper, all better than most of these
So what? This wasn't an opinion based list.
Dark side of the moon was charted for 100000 years
I like facts more than opinion
Carole King's Tapestry

Hard to believe MJ is only #10
Almost all of these releases are Greatest Hits albums and compilations..
Yes
My mom's favorite is C.C.R's.
Number one without a doubt
dark side was on the top 200 longer than all the others combined
Decades, Floyd never to happen again.
Agreed 👍💯
Kind of wondering where Bruce Springsteen The Beatles
How did not a single beatles album not make this list?
Not for weeks on the charts, Dark Side of the Moon was on for at least 12 years
Calling it Metallica instead of the black album just sounds cursed
Spider's from Mars David Bowie should be as WELL 💯 percent
Tínhamos música!
The video means nothing if your don't put the duration up.
