    Thanks for bringing up the ‘side lean’ to wipe! I have a standard toilet so it’s low but I’m 5ft1 barely. We did buy the arms. Arrived today and I was so relieved as I had no way to get myself lowered or rise without putting myself in danger. This is a hip revision I just had after a hip replacement was done in March! I’d had 2 dislocations in between. Everything’s terrifying me to death now, and…. My shoulders and Left knee are replacements as well. My surgeon and team say, ‘no restrictions’ ( anterior) but how can that be?! All I read is don’t do this, don’t do that….. the side lean is appreciated thanks again!🙏

    Your videos are very informative. I've been needing a total hip replacement since 2019. I didn't get this done because of Covid-19 it wasn't done. Now, I'm struggling a lot more with my walking on my right hip. Now I'm having a problem with my left hip acting the same way, starting in 2023. It's very hard for me to lose the weight, when I'm struggling with pain all the time. I'll be seeing my doctor in March in hopes of getting this surgery done this year.

    • @EquipMeOT
      @EquipMeOT  3 года назад +2

      I’d need a bit more info on the type of diagnosis or what physical limitations are present. If they require moderate assistance, I’d bet they need someone to provide a boost when coming to a stand which would require a gait belt but also added height and hand rails or grab bars if they have enough upper body strength to assist. A caregiver training video would be a good addition to this library!

    Interesting, I'm going in for hip replacement in 3 weeks, was just looking at how things will function after.
    Curious about the extended leg vs bending your knee and having reduced angle with knee below the seat, I have a short rise at home. I'm 6'1" and it's currently painful for hip to be less than 90 degrees, haven't been able to tie my shoe on that side in 15 years. I'm sure I'll get added info both pre and post op, but thought I'd ask for your input. I'm sure it's not as possible for shorter people and perhaps it draws the tendons in the hip too much and won't be possible post op?

      It is my understanding that most bilateral hip replacements are done in a way (anterior versus posterior approach) that does not include the same level of strict precautions. You will need to clarify with your surgeon, but I believe you will still benefit from some raised height of seated surfaces for comfort but don’t have to be quite as diligent about preventing bends beyond 90 degrees.

  • @jamic6351
    @jamic6351 9 месяцев назад

    Great video.
    It points to not seeing what is perfectly obvious. The lack of assistive props is glaring. You laud the stable hand rest sink. That thin pointy thing?
    All throne side sinks should have carved wood grips.
    Use pool noodles or pipe insulators…split and mounted over that granite.
    Make two tiered, chose the height for where you feel like gripping.
    If you are renting, you don’t want to go through walls, but a freestanding handrail can be made. Vevor has well made handrail. Attach to 2 x 4 mounted to floor stand which can be moved later.
    Says here, too far away from the wall for a safety grab bar. No.
    Use another kind. Often found for hot tubs or pools, the curved safety handrail will work. These are pricey, but buy it once.
    We are so pathetically behind on these home accommodations. No forethought, no design. A simple ballfield injury, we all need an assist.
    It wouldn’t be an assist if we built it right with good design.
