I heard this song from inside of birkenau with 10,000 other Jews and as we sang this song the clouds opened up and rays of light got through. it was one of the most beautiful and moving things I have ever experienced.

How can someone thumb down a song like this... I understand that this isn't everyone kind of music... But this is a poem/ written by a young woman that tortured and killed... If you don't like it then just let it be... You don't have to be negative. You can keep your opinion to your self... So respect for someone that died believing in such things.
I went to Israel for the first time on a tour in 1990. On the tour we visited Sdot Yam and this is where I learned about Hannah Senesh. Fast forward to 1994, I was managing a campground in Utah and two Israeli young men, fresh out of the IDF, were touring the US and they spent the night at our campground. We had a wonderful visit. I mentioned Sdot Yam and Hannah Senesh. One of the young men said he couldn’t wait to tell his grandmother that he had met an American that knew about Hannah. He said his grandmother had been her friend!
Tonight, December 7, 2013, I had the most amazing opportunity of meeting David Szenesh, Hannah's nephew who was born ten years after she died. I will keep this day forever in my heart.
Correction to text in video: She immigrated to Israel in 1939; she joined the agriculture school in1941.The text currently reads 1941 for both. Sorry for the error.
I like this version of the song best of those I have listened to on YT so far.. Sounds more innocent and simple, which was Hannah, rather than the jazzy and other more complicated ways the song is sung. One does not need to "decorate" what she has written or what her co-writer put to music. It's lovely and says so much just as it stands now. We can think of her words, her message, her life, and her example while listening to the innocent words she put on paper while still so very young, on the precipice of so much, and willing to give it all away to protect us.
Am on my way to my synagogue to mark the "international Day" for Shoah deaths where the date of death - therefore the "yarzheit" is unknown. We are gathering to commemorate these souls; sing ELI, ELI. & say KADDISH. This - with its powerfully poignant & tragic pictures - is absolutely marvellous - thank you.
Wow! What an amazing idea! She’s so embedded in my heart since I saw the movie Hanna’s War. I love her. Would you happen to know where or how I can get a copy of the movie? I ordered twice through amazon but they were very bad copies. Thank you
We enjoyed this hymn last week, Thursday 8 April. On R Mornings, Revelation TV. It was beautifully sung by the Pastor's daughter and the piano was beautifully played exactly like here. They showed lots of b/w photographs of the Jewish people and their children. My heart ached and I wept. I'm crying again now. LORD have mercy on us all, in JESUS' Mighty, HOLY Name, amen 😢♥️🇯🇲🏴🕊️🔥✝️
I went to a jewish summer camp as a kid. My bunk was named Hannah Senesh. I didn’t know any of this history when I was younger, Now it makes me incredibly glad to see my people keep her memory and story alive. 10 years later this song popped into my head and I didn’t even know it was by her. What a story she had. Very inspiring.
Blessed is her memory. I’m not Jewish but my heart beats for israel. I saw the movie Hannah’s War and she’s been in my heart ever since. Does anyone know how/where I can get a dvd version of the movie? I ordered through amazon but it was a very bad copy. Ty I understand there’s a monument for her in Israel. I’d like to visit there some day.
I am very sorry to say, that she was not killed by Germans, but by the Hungarians, in Budapest, in the Margit körut prison hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Szenes_Hanna I am a Hungarian...
@tkomic19, thanks for sharing this beautiful video. I heard the song by Topol, and it was beautiful, but this video is worth sharing. Hope more of us will remember the brave-hearts who ended their life for us, but has such martyrs been duly paid tribute?!
This song always makes me cry. Heard it in Hebrew school when I was in like Preschool and still remember it despite never going back to synagogue and I'm now 30 🙏

@badback22 It was part of a uniform. You know Marines carry swords as part of their formal wear. She was also part of the military and your quote from the Bible does not make any sense here. Abel killed Cain for essentially no reason and Hannah did not murder anyone. She was trying to save people. She is a hero and she is currently resting in Heaven. That I am sure of.

Holocaust deniers. Or people who have these videos recommended to them but don't want to see them again,
I was thumbed down for writing a friendly comment on an Arabic song saying the greeting is from Israel.
