I was mulling over this for the last few days. I own an FAL and I love this thing but the platform is still dated at it's time. DSA has done good to try to help it keep up but more can still be done. The main thing being that the FAL is still a weapon where you're either using iron sights OR you're using an optic.
You can't have both unless you change your chin/cheek welds. Simple solution is to raise the stock and the iron sights. I'm going to do a magazine + stock review in the next week or so but this rifle would benefit greatly if they raised the stock to be inline with the rail, put the iron sights on stilts and made them foldable to an extent, vis-a-vis FN SCAR irons. Idk why DSA hasn't done this or offered a DIY parts alternative.
IMHO, still an excellent survival rifle in the arctic, I know it's well outside winter in Alaska, but putting it through some of my tests in neg 33 and below weather it fairs surprisingly well over my AR10.
Also, how are you liking the trigger on that? I just bought a trigger upgrade myself that turns it down from a 8-10lb pull down to a 3-5 lb pull.

This thing is General Buttnaked AF. "Bring me the gun of Rambo". Sometimes it's best to just leave the rifle as it is.

Not an FN FAL, you bought the Walmart version.
