  • In this video, GAT Puno Abundio Baet of Garimot Arnis Training demonstrates the native arts of Buno. Buno is an indegenous grappling art in the Northern Philippines. A fusion of the grappling arts of the Aeta and Mangyan tribes, GAT Puno's father combined the arts and the locking methods of Arnis to create Harimaw Buno.

    Thanks for posting! These are interesting variations of the BJJ versions of the positions, but much more street applicable.

      Not a problem. Agreed. When survival is on the line, anything goes. You don't have time to think, "is this legal or illegal?"

      In a street altercation it can turn to your disadvantage to lie prone on your back all the time. His rendition by staying on one knee is definitely a whole lot more street applicable.

      Gat Puno said as long as you understand leverage and concept/theory, you can create any submissions that can transition to other submissions. Since Gat Puno is also a chef, he told us that he experimented popping chicken joints with his bare hands before he cooked them. He just took that concept and applied it to the human anatomy.

      GAT Puno just turned 60 and he's still going strong. Many of the young call Arnis the old people's martial art LOL! But you can practice well beyond your golden years. You just have to find the right instructor and training group. Feel free to reach out to GAT PUNO Baet on Facebook for more information.

      GAT Puno told us that the grappling in Buno was translated from grappling animals when hunting. They couldn't kill the animal, so they had to capture it , tie it up and bring it back to the village. Reason being, is that if you kill the animal and drag it back home, the meat will most likely spoil during the long hike.

      judo and jujutsu may have some forms in dumog or filipino wrestling, but the art of dumog is an original art.

    First of all FMA is the best weaponry and empty hand method, it doesn't have BBJ concepts. It's been a cliche the past decades of styles claiming to have grappling, I don't believe any of them. Take that to the UFC and it will be embarrassing. Especially under whatever name. Stick to FMA.

    • @FMAPulse
      @FMAPulse  Год назад +1

      Every systems or art has their specialty and eventually has to evolve. Sambo for example is a hybrid of Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and wrestling and it's origins are from 1920's Russia. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, was developed in Brazil during the same time as well. All of these style developed outside of the original country and origin. Shooto came from wrestling and was developed in Japan. Southeast Asia has grappling in Silat which has been around for a while. Are you saying that another country cannot adapt a fighting style from another country and call it their own?

    • @FlipArt57
      @FlipArt57 Год назад +1

      @@FMAPulse That type of information is useless, other wise it would have adapted and commercialized with MMA practitioners quiet sometime like Judo BJJ or Olympic Wrestling. Lets' stick to our FMA cause we are the best in that concept. Don't take Filipino Grappling to the cage, it would be embarrassing.
