    I just loved it when you finished your play-a-long demo at the end and the music fades out as you say, "OK, I hate to have to stop it but ta, the producer has indicated to me that it is time to move on..." just as the dog outside comes to the door like HE is the producer!!! LOL The timing was impeccable!!!

    Thank you for the amazing tutorial, it’s very helpful and easy to follow!
    I’ve realised that when I’m practicing the variation I was always missing the fourth hit. What I found helpful was using a talking metronome instead of a normal one, to make sure I’m hitting mute notes when he’s saying one and three, and making sure I’m hitting the low bongo on four (you can just search talking metronome on RUclips at it’ll come up).
    Also some more variations would be great!

    isn't the PA KU after the 2 of the clave? You were playing it after the 3. Your videos are
    really good. Really enjoy your teaching techniques. SALSA RHYTHM is a great App.

    • @Eddysuconga
      @Eddysuconga 5 лет назад

      Edward, as I say in the video, different people put that variation on different sides of the Clave... and further more, even the same player when followed thru the whole song may put it in different sides with in the same tune. I generally opt for the "Pa Ku" (as you called, and I like it) at the end of the 3 side of the clave, ending on beat ONE of the 2 side of the clave. I hope this clarifies. Thanks for your comments and for watching my videos.

    About 1970 I went to the Palladium Ballroom on Broadway in New York City (where I lived) to experience Tito Puente's band. My real motive was to learn how the bongocero played in a big band. I believe his bongo player was Dandy. What stuck with me the most was how he would mix in that hard left hand "crack". I don't recall Dandy picking up the cowbell. As a young white boy I was scared to death mixing in with the gentes negras. As soon as the band stopped I was outta there!

It will take a couple of minutes for you to figure our the application and how to use it., but it is a nice practicing tool. Much more fun than a regular metronome. Rafael D. , para serte honesto, no recuerdo a qué velocidad puse la aplicación “Salsa Rhythm” en ese momento. Pero es muy fácil para ti
      poner tu metrónomo (o cualquier aplicación que estés usando) a una velocidad similar.
      Simplemente: escucha la música y si tienes un metrónomo digital, la mayoría de ellos tienen un “tap the tempo” botón, identifica el tempo de la música que use yo, y luego
      acomoda cuál sea que tú estás usando a la misma (o parecida) velocidad. De todos modos: es una buena idea que anuncie en los videos futuros a que velocidad estoy tocando. Buena idea. Buen comentario. Gracias y sigue practicando.

    • @Eddysuconga
      @Eddysuconga 8 лет назад +1

      Kept67, you can buy the match to your Rumba Model Congas, if you do so, I recommend you change the skins and put Remo Fiber 3 bongo heads on both (or at least in the macho) or high drum. But if your bongoes happen to come with decent heads already, play them until they need changing and don't "mess" with them (-:).. Another good intermediate quality bongo would be the Matador Wooden Bongo. But there are MANY good quality and not very expensive bongoes out there. Good luck to you and thanks for watching the videos.

A very similar sound compared with the video bongo is: Another good intermediate quality bongo: "Matador" model Wooden Bongo. You would add (change) the usual heads that come in the bongo for the Remo synthetic (plastic) skins I have on the video. Good luck to you and thanks for watching the videos. Gracias.
