A beautifully made film: unpretentious and honest with a self-effacing, reflective and informative commentary by Louis. Such a nice guy who just flows on rock plus he's a great communicator. The camera work really captured the beauty of the Japanese landscape balanced against the urban shots. More of the same please from the same team. A breath of fresh air. Perfect.
Wow, one of the best climbing documentaries I've seen so far, so relaxed, laid-back, aesthetically well done - I feel like I have a very good idea how it is to boulder in and around tokyo due to the great camerawork - and louis is such a cool guy, well spoken, great climber and overall a refreshing, positive person dang it, now I'm even more hyped for climbing and austria is in full lockdown mode :D
Every climbing tourist is humbled immediately by the train system and then humbled later on by the level of climbing everyone is able to do in the gyms! Amazing place.
OMG this is amazing! Makes me want to pack my bags and go to Japan. Great outdoors shots!!! Funny to see Louis being nervous to talk to another climber 😂😂
This was such an incredible film to watch! I loved every bit of it having lived in Japan for a year. Thank you EpicTV for producing this fine work of art!
There is that thing where you spend time climbing with someone that you have never seen before and you bond in some amazing way. And then you have to part ways knowing you will likely not ever see that person again. That’s a meaningful human experience.
Another epic documentary with and about Louis. So nice, when he got starstruck meeting Yuji, being humble as always ;) I'd follow his climbing adventures around the world at any time✌️.
Amazing video. Wonderful direction and you can feel Louis’ love and respect for the country. Makes you want to get up and get out there to find your own adventures
My experience in Tokyo boulder was insane. Everyone in the gyms are amazing. Also, Mitake was like an hour train ride from Nakano and 10 minute walk from there to the bolders.
What a great, great video. Loved it! I really enjoyed Louis commentary. It's so cute to see him fanboying really hard in the end there … I should remember that, if I ever run into him and can't get out a word. ^_^
The trains have different tunes and sounds playing depending on which station you're at, so you can listen for when you're arriving at your stop, once you're familiar with its sound.
Awesome job guys! That was an well-made and very atmospheric short-film. Loved the editing as well. May i ask what camera you used? Combined with a gimbal or camera-intern stabilization? Thanks and keep up the good content :)
As the World Champs have just shown, the Japanese are very very strong.I used to go to a wall in Nagoya and they were campussing on crimps with 10 or 15 Kilos. You can get to Ogawayama from Tokyo by train and bus.Thumb or walk the last 2 miles You will probably need a Japanese speaker, but maybe you could do without.Take food for the off season, and warm kit. There are also trad climbs ,good quality.
Get an ic card next time: instead of buying a ticket, you spend like five bucks to buy a card that you can simply tap on the gate to get in. Rechargeable also at the same stations you buy tickets from.
Honestly, the best part was watching Louis be utterly gob-smacked looking when he met Yuji Hirayama a legit legend of Trad, Sport and Bouldering. Show's that Louis is well grounded and appreciates the "real deal" when he has a chance to brush with greatness ie he's not just some (strong) bouldering twit.
This is so rad. I’ve never really had a desire to go to Japan until now. My question is I’ve been climbing for a year, if my top grade is v5 in door does it even make sense to go to Japan?
Because the grade doesn't matter! I quite liked not having text with the grade or the name of the climb pop up. Made the film feel really flowy and pure.
So Japan is clearly not a place to boost your ego...
👌😂
Remember what happened to daniel woods when he went there... boy came back and started working on his footwork.

Plus, no grades!
This film really hit the spot, part of it was Louis´ great commentary.
There is no border in the rock and climbers. Thanks for visiting Japan and introducing our local climbing culture!
I want to one day get to the point where light climbing for an injured finger means a crimpy v8
Did you get there? I too want to get to that point
my finger was feeling strange so i thought i'd take it easy and I got on a chris sharma problem...
"I thought I'd do some light climbing... so I got on a Chris Sharma problem..." 🤯🤯
This was so great guys! Louis getting to meet Yuji was so awesome
Awesome film ! Following Louis was so much fun, he’s such a nice and humble person, his commentary was the bit that really made this film standout
One of the best climbing films out there. Love to see Louis crushing it as usual.
Great video! In my opinion, this type of content is where you all shine. Keep up the great work!
Louis seems to have developed Schrodinger's mustache. It is or it isn't depending on lighting and angle.

Really enjoyable documentary, thank you so much. Awesome seeing Louis meet Yuji
Great film. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Hats off to David for great footage, best film yet I think. Loved it!
So fun to watch Louis fan boying !
Awesome video !
"So you do a V9?"
"Yes. I'm Japanese"
Damn asians with their high standards. It's amazing really.
V9 outdoors after climbing 5 years is impressive. my friend got an indoor v11 in his first year. and he happens to be Asian.
genetics leading to ideal body composition and that ol' east asian work ethic really can work its wonders.... hah!

日本だ!!
強すぎるし、連続で登っていてすごいです!
またいつか日本に来て欲しいです!
4段や5段に挑戦しているのを見てみたい(`・ω・´)

Louis standing under an umbrella: "It's not perfect conditions..."
本当にクライミング好きなんだなー、って伝わってくる!
I'll be going to Japan at the end of October and this has me even more psyched than I already am!
How was it???
How can ya not like Louie? I would definitely watch a series like this 🤙
That was so cool to see Louis meet Yuji!
That's your best video EVER Louis. Keep travelling!

That slab finish with no spotter! You have mad gutz! Also you seem like such a chill person, very different feel to this video than most I've seen!
I really enjoyed this
Loved it, music, edit, Louis, everything! Great documentary!
What a great, great video. Loved it! I really enjoyed Louis commentary.

V11 slab!
It's remarkable just to dare!
Love all this documentarys! Keep them coming👌
This was lovely, thank you :)
Realy nice film David! I like it a lot! :)
Wow, that is a great video.. yeah we met Yuji on our trip to Tokyo too.. he's a legend and so are you Louis Parkinson..
The trains have different tunes and sounds playing depending on which station you're at, so you can listen for when you're arriving at your stop, once you're familiar with its sound.
even the bouldering pads are neat and orderly
Without this orderliness there would be no sushi
Louis let the others try the boulders too. ;P
Fantastic documentary, very nicely made.
Louie is the man. Can watch him climb all day...
I move on after 34 minutes
28:56 coolest start to a boulder problem.
Great Rockumentary ! I have to go there too I think ...
Great video, gets me so stoked to go to Japan!
Enjoyed great.
great editing and narrating.
Cool flick. More please!
great video!
Great film!

なんかめっちゃいい。
30:18 I’ve also heard them referred to as “thumbderclings”
Sam Sheesley ah i see you are a man of culture as well. Bouldering bobat? XD
Those pockets look so dope!!

EPIC DOCO GUYS!!! LOUIS! WELL DONE
So beautiful
Would have been nice to have had the boulders names and grades pop up as he climbed them
it's funny, i see him many times when i climb, never thought he was a famous sorta person
Great content!
That was EPIC!
Awesome!!

Michael Jarman yes!!! 100%
Awesome
what shoes are those at 18:24?
1'40" Louis I think you sat in the ladies only carriage..
"I wanted to do some really light climbing so I hopped on a CHRIS SHARMA problem called "Two Monks"" lol
bouldering every day for a week sounds intense on the fingers
Great movie! Song at 30:00?
Beautiful 😍
What is music at 12:00?
Why not put the route name and grade on the screen?
Because the grade doesn't matter! I quite liked not having text with the grade or the name of the climb pop up. Made the film feel really flowy and pure.
Lol the dude at 21:02 literally said 'I don't understand at all'... just normal English would have served better xD
Brush pole on the pad whilst climbing bad spotting. But great film
26:06 some might say it’s a bit of an anti ‘climb max’…
23:06 PANC in Japan
12:40 what problem is that? That one to the right of the famous "Banshousha" (V13): ruclips.net/video/_KJ9PzHwEVo/видео.html
19:03 this made me sad. :(
It was only a tearful moment because of how great the days before it must've been.
He was stronger in that video from 7 years ago
Really light climbing. Two Monks is V10...
EDIT: I guess it's a V8, not that that would seem any lighter to the likes of me.
Cool to see more male climbers going for the Women's Solutions. Guess they are officially unisex after Ondra and Luis ;D
I found Waldo
so Louis has a gigantic Ape Index
The correct term is spider index!
Spider* index. He used an outdated term
His ability doesn't transfer outdoors then....
huhn... not even the slightest "gamba"? interesting...
34:42 someone please tell me what kind of chalk bag is that
Louis bleeds purple blood
14:50 is for the haters
