      Where did you get the piece to ground it for your camper power adapter to work.

    *Fantastic little **Generater.Systems** ! I have a slide in camper on my truck and this ran for at least 14 hours on less than a gallon of fuel mainly running lights and water pump. With the small load it had no problem running in eco mode and was so quiet we had to listen close just to see if it was running.*

    I bought this 2 years ago after the 2021 Deep Freeze hit Texas. My house was without power for 4 days and the temperature dropped to 15 degrees Fahrenheit at my place. Anyway, since buying this, it just got me through Hurricane Beryl. Here in Texas, Beryl left about 2.5 million homes without electricity. After a week, there are still over 400,000 houses without electricity. This one is quiet, is really convenient, and kicks out more power than the Honda EU200i for a lower price.

    Thanks for telling me about propane not needing a re-jet! I'm nearly sold now. Going to be doing a lot of traveling between a ton of different elevations and don't want the pain of changing the jet all the time

    Looks like pretty clean ground your on there but fyi, the air intake is down by the stowed handle under the operating panel. Keep a 4×4 sheet of thin plywood or something similar handy form useing undernieth. It'll help prolong the life of the filter and possibly prevent premature wear of engine internals. Just my $0.02

    Very nice. I bought the same generator for the same reason. I’m really happy with it.

    Scott, for safety you might want to purchase a diaphragm regulator in the event the generator should shut down it will stop the flow of propane to the engine.

    • @totallyfrozen

      There is one already in the propane hose that comes with the generator.

  • @dalp6657

    Is a good idea keep one propane tank just for the generator, you have plenty space to have an extra tank.

    What kind of propane hose did you buy for your grill attachment? I’m trying to hook up to my 500 gallon propane tank and can’t find any hose with the fitting for the generator.

    How long does it run on 20lb propane and when propane runs out does it auto switch to the gas staying running or how do you switch back to gas?

    Thx for the review.
    Trying to decide between this one or the champion 2500 dual fuel.
    It will be for off grid use in my Intech Flyer Explore. It will run an 11000 btu ac and heat strip. And maybe some lights plugged into exterior outlets. The battery powers most of the rest. Unless I’m mistaken on how it works etc.
    I know that the 2500 will run the AC/heat strip and I can turn off the AC of course to brew a cup of coffee in the morning - BUT would the extra power of the 4500 be worth the extra weight and space ya think? Wonder how much louder it would be in a campground?

    • @ScottAllison
      @ScottAllison  Год назад +1

      It really comes down to a calculation of how many watts you need. Since we have a few nearby campground at over 8000 feet that was the main reason we got the size we did. But if you're not planning on going to high altitude a smaller lighter one is probably the way to go as long as it covers what you need. Both for running and starting watts

    • @totallyfrozen
      @totallyfrozen 5 месяцев назад

      If you can afford 4,500 watts, why buy only 2,500 watts?

    I would buy one if they would have remote start. I have the old 3100 with remote start and love it but wish it was propane now that gas prices are so high. I’m probably buying the Westinghouse 4500 next month because it’s propane and also remote start.

    • @ScottAllison
      @ScottAllison  3 года назад +1

      This was my first generator...I can definitely see the benefit of remote start! But are there any risks with that? The manual to this generator says you should never stop or start it when something is plugged in. Is that really a concern or are they just covering themselves?

    • @offgridliving4128
      @offgridliving4128 3 года назад +1

      @@ScottAllison just covering them selves. I currently own the 3100 remote start. I’m full timing in my RV now while setting up my off grid property. I leave my PowerMax battery charger plugged into the generator all the time. I Remote start it when the solar can’t keep up, In the mornings or late at night to top off the batteries. It starts then waits a few seconds then starts the inverter. This way the motor is up to rpm. I don’t know why Champion don’t have remote start for their duel fuel line. Been looking at the Westinghouse line and the reviews seem good. I do really like my Champion generator and it’s treated me very well just over 225 hours on it with not a single problem.

    • @Edwardsjourney
      @Edwardsjourney 3 года назад

      Its my understanding the reason Champion does not have a remote start generator is because you have to manually close the tank valve to turn it off.

    • @offgridliving4128
      @offgridliving4128 3 года назад

      @@Edwardsjourney makes sense as I don’t believe they are using the proper propane regulator for a combustion engine.

      @@ScottAllison I haven’t heard of it happening, but they say it can lose its magnetic field if it’s turned off with a load attached. To fix it you use a drill. Yeah sounds crazy, but look it up. I carry a drill anytime I have the gennie with me for this reason. Like I said no idea if it’s a real concern, but having a drill with you at all times isn’t necessarily a bad thing is it?

    It may not work off your bbq line on the side if you have 2 regulators connected the pressure may be too low ....over regulated.

    • @ScottAllison
      @ScottAllison  3 года назад

      Yeah I know that would be an issue so the line I have for it is just a straight line with no regulator. It's weird because it worked fine the first time I tried it, then subsequently it didn't, except with a warm start. That did work. Cold start though was no good. I might try a different line in case that's the issue.

      After teeing my bbq line with propane hosing and used no additional regulators except the O.E. travel trailer regulator at the 20lb bottles on the trailer tongue, my permanent mounted champion model 100204 generator would be hard to start and would run too rich over time and load up with too much fuel.
      I took the champion regulator that came with the generator and removed the large “acme” nut that is for mounting to 20lb bottles. I was left with M12x1 female threads in the champion regulator. Found a brass adaptor bushing on amazon to go from m12 to 1/4” MPT which is common pipe thread found on the gas lines of travel trailers in the US.
      Travel trailer regulator is still used at trailer tongue. Runs much better regulated with the champion regulator permanently mounted at the generator and adapted to work with “hard pipe” instead of a 20lb bottle. Just sharing my experience 😎

    Did it run your AC on propane without issue?

    • @ScottAllison
      @ScottAllison  2 года назад

      Yes, no problem at all. At 8000' altitude its output is 2.2kW on propane and our AC is only 1.1kW when cooling. Highest consuming device we have is the microwave at 1.4kW
