Hi Jarrod I am trying to buy a gaming laptop. I am trying to decide between the Razer Blade 17 and the Auros 17. I am mostly using it for gaming but I want one that preferably has excellent colour gamut like 100% srgb, around 100% Adobe rgb and 100% DCI P3. Like a good content creator and gaming laptop in one. I've seen Vantage software as a purchasable option in the US. This is very confusing to me. Do we now have to pay for the software that controls performance or is it something else?
What? First I've heard of it, it's a free download, maybe it's something else they've given the same name. I see there's the "smart performance" option which is done through vantage, it's just some sort of extra automation feature you probably don't really need.
Hey Jarrod, I think the link you have in the description is wrong. It linked to the Lenogo Legion Slim 7i, not the regular Legion 7i, might want to look into that!
Hi👋, I want to buy Lenovo Legion Slim 7i. But I get confused with a memory board. If I’m not mistaken the laptop has only one slot. However, when I tried to customize, I get onboard memory: 8gb. And DIMM memory- 16 gb. I didn’t get what is DIMM memory. Could you clarify please? Thank you 🙏🏻.
The model comes with 8 GB soldered and an 8 GB SO-DIMM. Personally, I would either wait to see if a 32 GB model (16 GB soldered and 16 GB SO-DIMM) appears. If it doesn't or you cannot wait, just go for the Legion 7i or 7.

I've got the AMD Version with the highest specs. For the pricing it's better than intel/nvidia combo, if you only gaming without ray tracing. warzone at the highest settings 100 fps+. awesome battery Performance. in idle not too much noise and temps awesome. gpu doesn't hit the 82°C and cpu 85°C. I'm Impressed of this Notebook.
@@Hammy__75 Neither do I; I have the Ryzen 7 6800H & Radeon RX 6700M and apart from Ray Tracing, it could handle anything I threw at it at 1440p, even on Linux, just not ray tracing.
I can say the following about the AMD version (because I don't know if Jarrod is going to review this version): 1. There's no Smart Acess Memory, unlike what the website says. You have to reboot to change the GPU MUX (the iGPU was off by default). 2. The battery life can go up to around 8 hours with all of the tweaks: Hybrid mode enabled, screen at 200 nits, quiet mode instead of performance or balanced mode, RGB off, and the screen set to 60 hz via the Fn + R shortcut. That's great. 3. The Ryzen 6800H & Radeon 6700M GPU in my laptop is straight up great for Linux. And the gaming performance without using Ray Tracing is great. 4. There is one USB4 port on the left; the other is USB 3.2 gen 2, while the Intel version has both of these ports being Thunderbolt 4. 5. The Wi-Fi card on my AMD Legion 7 was so bad, I had to replace it with an Intel AX 210. There were so many random Bluetooth drops followed by system lockups a few minutes later. And Linux support for Intel Wi-Fi cards are far better than MediaTek (which I had the 7922) or RealTek. The Wi-Fi on both operating systems was faster and more consistent on the Intel card as well. So if you do get the AMD model, be ready to open it up and replace the Wi-Fi card. 6. I had a harder time prying off the bottom panel. Granted, I haven't done too many laptops, but I needed a pry tool to get it off and I was worried about breaking tabs. Though the upgradability is great. I think the decision between Intel + Nvidia vs AMD Advantage comes down to what you are doing with your laptop. Do you need the maximum performance in games and content creator workloads, or do you need the best value, good Linux support (Nvidia GPUs suck on Linux), or good battery life (I would not expect the Intel model to go beyond 5 hours with the same tweaks I mentioned earlier; AMD is just better and more efficient with battery life)?
@@Alyjaf I agree. It was so bad, and I didn't want to break the wires to the card, but the only place that would do it was all the way across the county from where I lived and it cost $100 just to put it in. Thank goodness I had a spare Intel AX210, or else it would be ANOTHER $20 - $30 just for a new AX210...
@@Alyjaf The only reason I can think of is to reduce reliance on Intel, but it's not a good excuse for the experience I mentioned plus a seriously glitchy BSOD on shutdown (that was when I decided I had to replace the card, and that fixed ALL of the issues)!

Hi Jarrod! I bought this same laptop and I’m really having a hard time just to play Apex Legends. Every setting default my Apex would make weird sounds and run sluggish when started. About 40 FPS in firing range. Could you please tell if you had similar problems? It’s really getting on my nerves as Apex is the first game I downloaded onto this new laptop but somehow this unexpected lag. Thank you very much for your time!
I didn't have any issues in the firing range with Apex. If the FPS are quite low you could check whether Ray tracing is on as that, combined with the higher resolution, might bring them down. With my 'min' testing, I set everything to lowest, but keep DLSS on and RT off.
@@JarrodsTech Jarrod thank you for replying! Now that this problem was solved--turns out when the laptop is on quiet mode it caps off the GPU so games won’t run at the GPU’s full potential. It was super frustrating considering this is a top end laptop and supposedly shouldn’t have problems like this. Hey Jarrod, can you review the Acer Aspire 7? I would like to know your thoughts on it.
I like these videos because at least it gives a good idea of a best case scenario spec-wise. It can’t be that far off with lower specs right?
Why my legion 5 pro Amd version logo light brightness is low compared to same legion 5 pro but intel version ??!!
It was a great video as always! Btw I expected Legion 7i to smoke the competition but it seems GT77 and scar 17 se are still at the top in terms of performance…
I expected the same
IMO, it performs great while still looking like a laptop, so I’ll accept a little less performance.
There barely is a difference in performance tbh. Nothing noticeable atleast
@@tysam5867 based on the latest review by Jarrod, this legion 7i is performing (on battery) poorly than a lot of others. For example its worse than the legion 5i pro having i7 12700h.
It's strange why Lenovo would limit the power of the i9 so much.🤔
Actually interested in using as a portable streaming laptop with vMix. As such, can the cpu clock speed sustain high (~3ghz) for long periods of time( >4 hrs) and, with dGPU mode enabled will both thunderbolt 4 connectors be able to support external capture cards (4pcie lanes each) simultaneously? I know these aren't 'gamer' questions but might be of interest to creatives as well as streamers. Thanks.
This is great performance for a laptop that actually looks like a laptop that you can use for everything including gaming. Some gaming laptops look awful imo, so I’ll take a little less performance. Good video.
I don't do much content creation also I don't play much shooter games so a slower screen like 144hz is fine. I mostly play simulation games which is at a slower pace than shooter games. What pick do you recommend I get?
Hey Jarrod, could you do a review on the MAG-15R from eluktronics? It's seems to be a good machine for its price but I can't find a good review on it.
There's a pre-configured version with i7 11th gen + rtx3060 + 1440p 165hz screen and more.
could you please review the new 5 pro amd version. i want to buy either legion 5i or 5 pro with rtx 3070 and i want to know if the €200-250 markup for the intel version is really worth it or is the performance difference not big enough to want to pay more.
as a general rule, go for amd if you're more on the go. If 80% of the time you're just at home then it's better to just get that intel version instead
Jarrod could you please do a video on the differences between total system latency on the laptop screen versus an external monitor. Preferably including the nitro 5 since it has had the worst results. I'm debating upgrading from one right now or later and if a better laptop would have lower system latency even if both were using external monitors I'd like to upgrade now. Thank you if you even see this.
I'm buying a Legin 5 Pro 5800h 3070, and I'm used to playing at 60fps so, it wouldn't hurt to play some games at medium in full 1600p with more than 60fps, it's awesome!
I have been using a 2019 Lenovo Y540 for about 2 years now and still love it, looking to hopefully get the 2022 version🔥
Only problem I dislike is I have the stock ram (16gb) and It gets used up pretty fast so I’d for sure upgrade the ram and get 32gb (for my personal needs). But not too sure if i’ll end up doing that for this laptop
Hello is this the one with mini led panels or qhd only?
How do you get this computer from the official lenovo site. Everytime I try to buy it it denies my credit card even though it works. Anyone else have this issue?
Jarrod! How long does it take you to test, film and edit? If it's anywhere under a week I'd be surprised. I'm really excited for the Helios 300 video! Also, if I got your patreon could I ask you for suggestions on buying a laptop?
I wrote a novel and then joined three intellectual influencers who I thought would be interested in it's Patreons. Not one of them replied. God knows if they even read the messages.

which one should we buy the legion 7i or the strix scar 17 se
YESS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THISS, IM HOPING TO BUY THIS IN BLACK MARKET DISCOUNTT
Seeing the Titan GT77 is a a thicc boi and that the size compared to the Legion 7i is like a couple millimetres thicker longer and wider, the Legion 7i does provide comparable performance to that machine at about less of the actual pricing and size.
I just wish we had a super laptop like the previous Predator 21X that can boost the TDP of the components even more. Still the Legion does sound like a solid offering compared to the Titan since it's much better portability wise.
Lenovo had last year's 3080s running relatively cool at 165W so it's not surprising that they had headroom for more watts.
Extreme does enable RT but only in the showroom ForzaVista, not in races
Jarrod you should test the Omen 17 with the 3080ti and i9 12900hx
what would you chose between this one and the 17 SE?
Bro, first time commenting and your content is great. But I’ve recently picked up the legion 5 pro with the ryzen 7 6800h and a rtx 3070ti 16 inch….. thus machine is crazy and I’m not seeing no video about it. Would love to know your thoughts on it #respect
This is all great stuff, but I’d love to hear about the fan noise of this one. I like the look much better than on the SCAR, but is it louder?
As always, everything else will be covered in the full review ☺️
@@JarrodsTech Thanks - glad to hear. Wasn’t quite sure if this counted as a review. Anyway, great content!

Great review. Do you have any plan to test GE67HX 3080ti variant.
No. it's unlikely I'll review the 3080ti version. My review on the 3070ti is here though: ruclips.net/video/Suf_mAYFVgY/видео.html

Does the Lenovo legion 7i 2021, also get the new Lenovo vantage version? (I mean with overclock, etc. What the 2022 model has)

Hi Jarrod, can you review Machenike S15 please? Thanks so much if you could do this laptop review~
Wait… 120 fps in Apex on high at 1440p seems rather disappointing, right? How much does desktop 3080 ti deliver with same settings?
I only use AAA games, should I buy Lenovo Legion 5 pro 2021 Ryzen 5800h RTX 3070 or Lenovo Legion 5 pro 2022 Ryzen 6800h RTX 3060? hope you answer.
can u suggest which one to buy "asus tuf gaming a15 r9 5900hx 3060" or "asus rog g15 r7 6800h 3050" . Im just a casual gamer and want it for college purposes .
He'll im about to buy the lenovo legion 5 ryzen 7 5800h rtx 3060. Is it good and how much fps will it get in fortnite warzone
Jarrod! what is the TGP for legion 7 gen 7 rx 6700m?? configuration
Hey please tryout vr games and other nlp and DNN workflows too!
Hey Jarrod, I think the link you have in the description is wrong. It linked to the Lenogo Legion Slim 7i, not the regular Legion 7i, might want to look into that!
Thanks! I have updated it.
Please test the new maingear vector pro. Micro center has them in stock.
I've been thinking for a long time to buy this one, it may be the best 2022 laptop but finally got a Scar 2021 with 70% rebates and no ecpu bullshit.
So don't forget to add Scar 2021 if you can 😆 I've special feeling for it and it's stills running extremely well especially with VBios mod.
Gonna cross check with your previous video to get rought estimation.
Did they fix the asus duo? Your high frame results numbers wouldn’t be possible with a 25w limited cpu right?
The results are what I got when originally testing it. They are going to send me one to re-test as they believe they've fixed it, but that hasn't happened yet. From the original video: ruclips.net/video/wkJF8YtmiKg/видео.html
im intrested in the full review of this laptop.🤩

What do you think of liquid metal for cpu & gpu? Is it worth it?
Yes. Apply it VERY thinly. As thin as possible and remember it's a liquid.
Noice review as always!! Please review the ASUS TUF DASH 2022,,, 3060 12650H
I have the i7/3070ti version and I love it. best purchase at $2450 a week after release. couldn't justify the $4000 for the i9/3080ti on release
Good move; nobody needs the i9 CPU and almost nobody needs an RTX 3080 Ti except for those who absolutely need the vRAM for creative work.
is it worth for 4k gaming?
Please review the AMD advantage edition as well (Legion 7 2022).
when is the video for the Lenovo legion 5 pro with amd processor?
Is the ram x16 or x8 ??
When is the 240Hz version coming?
No 14 games avg ? :(
Jarrod, i have this same model. I dont have the overclock CPU function on the Legion advantage. Same model except mine came with a 2tb in the ssd slot. Am i missing something? 7i 2022 model Legion 7 16IAX7
I'm not sure why it wouldn't be there if it's the 7i. It is how it came by default for me, so I didn't change anything to make it appear.
How do i turn on conservation mode on legion 5 pro R9000p the one that prevents battery from charging to 100% because when i open lenovo vantage i can't see it in there.
It's in Vantage in the System Tools area under Power
Thinking of getting a gigabyte G5 3060 is it good?
What about the more affordable option? (6850m xt)
I'm waiting for the 2022 legion 7 to arrive. I would like to know if Forza Horizon 5 is compatible with the pressure-sensitive wasd keys so I don't spend 3 hours figuring it out.
Is this the Storm Grey color?
I've been waiting for this oneee. Can't wait to see the AMD version too
Yes pls. Amd version

Witch 1 you chossssse?,
Thxxxxx a lot.
Jarrod, could you please review the AMD variants of Legion 7 2022 as well as Legion 5 Pro 2022.
I can say the following about the AMD version (because I don't know if Jarrod is going to review this version):
Thank you I have ordered the same AMD configuration. Why would they use a separate WiFi card in AMD vs Intel its a very stupid decision
@@cameronbosch1213 Wow, that is crazy, any idea where I can get a new AX210?

Would have been great if they sent you both the 3070ti version and the 3080ti version. I think the 3070ti Legion 7i gen7 is the sweet spot.
Same here. With the difference in price you could buy yourself a really nice monitor.
What's the difference between that and the 5i pro with a 3070ti?
@@DarkestKnightshade hardware wise, legion 7 has a large phase change material vapor chamber for cooling instead of standard heat pipes, the 12800hx cpu which is basically an unlocked desktop cpu with a thinned out die for space. More cores, more threads. 99.9wH battery. Other changes are more build quality/style. All aluminum etc. Both are fantastic. 7i was more my style
@@DarkestKnightshade performance wise? nothing, just a few degrees lower temps on cpu and gpu cuz of that vapor chamber, otherwise just the lil things. since the 5i pro is not thermally limited and doesn't throttle so vapor chamber is not needed, just a bonus. I'd say wait for the 40 series tho,
Is there a 7i pro?

Finally at last
That said I’ve encountered some other issue: I had problems logging into my windows account, as the OS sometimes just forgets your fingerprint and password, and the only option to log in is to verify your window account. It was super frustrating considering this is a top end laptop and supposedly shouldn’t have problems like this.
I did a clean windows 11 reinstallation trying to get rid of this OS issue and this happened: network driver isn’t working (so I cannot use Wifi) along with lots of unrecognized drivers in Device Manager. Looks like I’ve made life harder for myself. Do you have any suggestions to solve this issue? Thank you so much for your time!
