Did 10 Cloverfield Lane *really* spark controversy? The only complaints I remember were about the fact that the aliens in this movie were different than the aliens in the original Cloverfield. And personally, I loved the ending to 10 Cloverfield Lane. Just when it seems like Howard was just plain crazy and Michelle is free, we find out the aliens are real. It's a great shock - and her experiences in Howard's bunker have prepared her to deal with it. Everything fits together perfectly.
10 Cloverfield Lane was actually awesome from start to finish. They didnt have much fat to cut off aside from that sitting around playing board games montage. The ending was so dope! The only problem it had, is that it wasnt longer. If you didnt like that movie, you have bad taste in whats a good or bad film, and you probably leave bad yelp reviews on B rated restaurants.
The ending ruined what was one of the best thrillers I've ever seen. It's like when the monster is revealed in a movie, it takes away the fear because now we know what it is. The fear of the unknown is the greatest fear of all, but JJ couldn't have an open ended movie cause everyone needs a bow to wrap up a story.
I just recently watched The Interview the other day, and it wasn't as bad shit crazy as I originally thought. It's not good don't get me wrong, but the acting was solid and there were parts I genuinely liked.
10 cloverfield lane ending was GREAT for me. Did not know anything about the movie before going in and it is awesome to find out that the bad guy was actually right the whole movie.
Even though I didn't watch it at theater. George Romero's classic *Night of the Living Dead* Ben getting shot at end!! NOOOOOOO!! Why?! My reaction was why after EVERYTHING Ben went through... The Good guy gets Shot?!!?!!
Regardless of the "socio-political" influence, I liked that ending because it fit in with the world and style of that film. Grim zombie apocalypse? A happily ever after ending doesnt really fit for that. That's what matters, more than if a movie's ending has "social/political" influence or that it follows the good ol "and they all lived happily ever after".
@@MRJTD99I agree that a grim ending fitted that grim story, but there's no worse form of disingenuousness than inverse snobbery: of course the socio-political significance (not "influence", I sadly doubt it went that far) of the ending matters! The black man who's been the hero of the hour only to get mindlessly gunned down by police? That was a powerful and devastating thing to depict at the time and it still has resonance. Don't be so dismissive of something's relevance just cause you have a bug up your ass about the language used to describe it - I don't doubt you're bright enough to include the significance of the ending in your appreciation of the film.
I never knew that 10 Cloverfield Lane had any controversy... for me it was a enjoyable movie, sure her destroying a space ship was a bit over the top but still enjoyable, I definitely enjoyed this much more than the first one, wich is also a enjoyable and good movie, but I never was a huge fan of that found footage shaky cam.
The thing about the movie The Interview is not only would it not ever be shown in North Korea, but the North Koreans would never have heard about it. The North Korean regime tightly controls everything that comes into their country so nothing that might be demeaning to their leadership would not be heard by the average North Korean. So this was all just pointless.
I thought Cloverfield Lane was a great movie. The ending was not out of place for me but the way it arrived so naturally rather than with many predictions showed a realistic climactic ending and that is what I respected about it. Also the heroine was genuinely likeable and she did not try but she just is, which is something you cannot fake. The casting was great in that way, I thought it was an impressive film : )
The Interview was actually a really good movie. And frankly if Kim felt so seriously about a film, I'd have too say they depicted him perfectly in the film.
Spock's "death" was only temporary. Any Star Trek character that dies can always come back as long as: a.) the fans want it and b.) Paramount wants to make money
I remember watching the devil inside on my birthday, about 10-15 people total in the theater. I remember when the car crash a guy shouted "Nah, that's it", all of us walked out disappointed!
I don't understand the controversy over 10 Cloverfield Lane, it's got Cloverfield in the title so we knew going in to expect aliens & plus Howard was warning her about everything (she just didn't believe him) so the ending wasn't a plot twist. I liked the kidnapped part of the movie & the mystery of trying to figure out if Howard is the telling truth or just some old conspiracy theorist gone crazy. I also enjoyed the suspense & anticipation of waiting for the aliens to enter the film, plus the set up for a sequel. I think that the people who didn't like the "surprise" ending are people who don't like their predetermined movie plot expectations to be challenged. To me it would've been controversial if the UFO didn't show up! BTW John Goodman is a great actor considering he from Dan (lovable TV dad on Roseanne) to Howard.
10 Cloverfield Lane was great, and deserves a sequel to expand the universe. Cloverfield Paradox should never be spoke of again. The Wrath of Khan ended perfect as it should have, it is the best Star Trek movie to ever hit the big screen.
6:45 - Actually, the reason Sony had them change the ending wasn't because of the gore. It was because the original planned scene looked too similar to a scene that was in another property.

Originally, "10 Cloverfield Lane" had nothing to do w/ "Cloverfield", but was ultimately linked to it, w/ the goal of selling more tickets and filling more theater seats, etc.
4:20 - Yeah, when you said, 'found footage film', that immediately killed any chance of me ever seeing the movie. I can't stand that genre, because every cameraman in the entire found footage genre seems to spontaneously develop uncontrollable tremors the second they turn on the camera.
The 'found footage' genre, might as well be called the 'can't see shit' genre, because you can't see shit in those movies. Worst of all is every fucking movie thought this was great and started doing this. It's not 'intense' or 'immersive', it's irritating and the day I see another movie in theatres is the day Hollywood stops doing this.
10 Cloverfield Lane should have ended when she climbed onto the car and sees the alien ship. What she said next would have been perfect last words for the movie! "Wrath of Kahn" had it right killing off Spock. Too bad "Return of the Jedi" wasn't as brave, as they should have killed off Han in that one!
Safe haven was really beautiful. I read the book and i was in tears when the letter came along. “There where no supernatural” watch thirteen reasons Why
I really hate when people want every movie to have a happy, hollywood perfect ending where everything is fine and all the movie's info is spoon fed to their toddler little mouths. this is why a ton of people dislike found footage type movies (unless they get motion sickness, which i understand). whats wrong with a not so happy ending? as long as it makes you reflect on what happened and not some cheap gut punch for the sake of being sadistic, whats wrong when things don't end happily ever after? whats wrong with an ambiguous ending? do you hate thinking so much you want every little detail explained to you in a coloring book? those people piss me off.
Miguel B I am one that seeks out happy ending only movies. I am in social work and I prefer my escape from reality to have a happy ending. I admire the art of a sad ending, but prefer not to engage in viewing at this point and time. That being said, some stories need to be told and they don’t have happy endings, I’d just rather not view them 😊 My work is like the sad ending to some of these movies.
The Interview was funny to me. I thought the whole bit where SEAL Team Six came to rescue them was hilarious especially when it was what Franco mentioned earlier in the film.
10 Cloverfield Lane was not originally supposed to have that ending. It was made into a Cloverfield movie later and the ending was tacked on to tie it together. And it would have been way better without it.
There are so many TV shows and movies where a mother is murdered needlessly and he goes straight to thee plot device. The movie monster had a reason to bait but you can understand why she became that way.

what? that 10 cloverfield lane ending was amazing, like the whole time we're like wondering if there's even anything going on or if this guys just crazy and after spending the whole time making us think he's probably just a crazy kidnapper holy shit he was right the whole time. who wouldn't love that?
The Interview was amazing
10 cloverfield lane's ending was awesome... I don't understand critics? Lucy was an awesome movie but got 6.something on iMDB?
8:45
Is that Martin Lawrence?? Spike lee put a lot of people on
And Breaking Bad's chickenman
what happend to inception? and shutter island the endings in both of them films was confusing
Why Spike Lee started a riot in New York? You guessed it... Frank Stallone!
I loved all of 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Some thing make people either mad or happy but one thing is for sure everyone must show respect
10 cloverfield sparked major controversy? It has a unique and exciting ending. I loved it.
Edgy and intense from start to finish. Great cast too.
The Last Jedi ending with luke Skywalker dieing ?
Yeah... But I don't think it was just the ending that was controversial...
@@williamphillips2671 Thank you. English is not my native language. But it did sound a bit off.
LuigiTheGamerGuy y Why would Luke Skywalker dying be controversial?
@@SonicSP well ....many fans what him to fight kylo and save everyone (in person)
and all he rest of movie was garbage
i enjoyed it for what it was
It’s Dying.
The ending to 10 Cloverfield Lane was a big surprise for me and i loved it!
10 cloverfield lane ending was GREAT for me. Did not know anything about the movie before going in and it is awesome to find out that the bad guy was actually right the whole movie.
Cool, now I don't have to watch it. LOL! 😍
I forget which one, but they had ,before the movies release, a Plastic cup that had "Spock Lives" 3. Still have one of those somewhere
30 years after Do The Right Thing....and we STILL haven’t understood the message as a country
Care to explain it?
The *whole frigging point* of 10 Cloverfield Lane was that it was scary *because* the psycho conspiracy theorist was RIGHT.
Even though I didn't watch it at theater. George Romero's classic *Night of the Living Dead* Ben getting shot at end!! NOOOOOOO!! Why?! My reaction was why after EVERYTHING Ben went through... The Good guy gets Shot?!!?!!
That ending had major socio-political significance, both then and now.
Yes
I saw "The Interview" in theaters as an act of resistance, not because I was interested in it. It was entertaining.
I kinda liked the 10 Cloverfield Lane and Safe Haven ending!!
10 Cloverfield Lane was brilliant. The twist ending makes it!
The peasantry have a black market for DVDs
schizoidboy it’s like China
In 1988, who thought the Berlin Wall would fall the next year?
I thought Cloverfield Lane was a great movie. The ending was not out of place for me but the way it arrived so naturally rather than with many predictions showed a realistic climactic ending and that is what I respected about it. Also the heroine was genuinely likeable and she did not try but she just is, which is something you cannot fake. The casting was great in that way, I thought it was an impressive film : )
It wasn't that great.
I loved Do The Right Thing, still gives me chills. I cried.
10 Cloverfield was a great movie and both Goodman and Winstead put in great performances...I agree that the ending was a crazy left turn
I felt sad when Kim died at the end of The Interview. Kim was just unloved by his parents. He became a party guy to makeup for his childhood.
The Interview was actually a really good movie. And frankly if Kim felt so seriously about a film, I'd have too say they depicted him perfectly in the film.
I loved the ending to 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Spock's "death" was only temporary. Any Star Trek character that dies can always come back as long as:
a.) the fans want it and
b.) Paramount wants to make money
I remember watching the devil inside on my birthday, about 10-15 people total in the theater. I remember when the car crash a guy shouted "Nah, that's it", all of us walked out disappointed!
Movie ending controversy is always fun haha!
It sure is
I cried when Spock died, and the New Star Trek did a switcharoo that was cool.
Cloverfield lane part 2 will come dude, it's my gut feeling
Why anyone thought making a movie about killing the current dictator of North Korea would be a good idea, comedy or not, will always boggle my mind.
Jacki Nicole I think there are movies like that, but throwing a hissy fit would only bring attention to it
Two words: First Amendment.
10 Cloverfield Lane was great, and deserves a sequel to expand the universe. Cloverfield Paradox should never be spoke of again. The Wrath of Khan ended perfect as it should have, it is the best Star Trek movie to ever hit the big screen.
The Interview was awesome.
Meh. I thought it was a puerile film trying to be a better one, but to each their own...
6:45 - Actually, the reason Sony had them change the ending wasn't because of the gore. It was because the original planned scene looked too similar to a scene that was in another property.
Do the Right Thing; burn down a neighborhood business, the owners don't rebuild and leave to open a new business in a more welcoming neighborhood. The residents in the old neighborhood are left to wonder why they are so few businesses in their community. Makes sense.
LoL wrong video?
I watched 10 cloverfeild on my 9hr flight to London and all i was doing is screaming and jumping from the suspense. Lol i tried my best not to disturbed anyone
Very edgy and intense.
It's not 'intense' or 'immersive', it's irritating and the day I see another movie in theatres is the day Hollywood stops doing this.
.....that's kinda the point.
The Rossi Files website doesn't even work anymore.
The only thing that annoyed me about 10 Cloverfield was that is was NOT connected to the first movie, Cloverfield, like a lot of us all thought.
I loved the ending of 10 Cloverfield Lane. I'd love to see a sequel with her fighting in the resistance.
Did Spike Lee compare his movie to an Arnold movie????
I'm pretty sure he's said a South Park episode
Who cares?
Spike's made a great living doing what he enjoys regardless of whether or not anyone else approves.
We should all be so lucky.
@@corlenajames1381 so did Hitler
LMAO I Saw The Wrath of Khan and I was, indeed, one of those that came out cussing and swearing and just down right pissed!
The interview was awesome
10 cloverfiled lane ending was the best I’ve ever seen to me. I never expected it worth my money for that.
For the clover field one, the ending was made like that to set up the sequal
10 cloverfeild lane was perfect up until the end but saying that i think any ending wouldve been underwhelming seeing how the movie played out
Michael j fox leaving spin city because of Parkinson's
John Goodman's character acted with complete rationality given the situation.
There are so many TV shows and movies where a mother is murdered needlessly and he goes straight to thee plot device. The movie monster had a reason to bait but you can understand why she became that way.
at the end of 10 cloverfield lane, the spaceship had a mouth?
also bones to spock - "Are you out of your Vulcan mind?"
High Tension? Alien 3?
I am so sick and tired of movies like 'High Tension' using that overdone twist.
high tension was good
I loved 10 cloverfield lane and wasn’t that satisfied with the ending at first, but now I kinda like the whole idea of her knowing what she’s getting into before going right to the aliens. Though I would’ve preferred a creepier ending, like maybe she doesn’t know about the aliens at all until she hears it on the radio, and it’s left ambiguous whether she actually goes to help. Idk lol
CURIOUS FACT:
Leonard Simon Nimoy (SPOCK 2:54 ) is ethnically Ukrainian.
His parents are immigrants from Iziaslav, Ukraine.
I went into 10 Cloverfield lane expecting that ending since the title could be related to the 2009 movie.
Feast ur eyes! The Interview is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. So many good one liners...
I liked Safe Haven. I had a feeling she was a Ghost by the end. But I don't see why anyone wouldn't like it.
I’ve never been as angry as I was at the end of 10 cloverfield lane, it could have easily been a stand alone movie without pulling the alien cars and I would’ve loved it!
