I want the next BF game to not kill the franchise and extinguish all interest in it. BF4 needs a living franchise when EA pulls the plug on the servers, the more people who join the future community servers the better.
It doesn’t matter what the next game actually has in it, I’m not buying it anyway. It just has to not immediately repel 99% of gamers again like 2042 did.

    I'm not holding my breath.
For me, I've been waiting for a Battlefield game for nearly 6 years. I loved BF3 and BF4, they were my introduction to the franchise, after playing CoD for a few years. They were larger scale battles, with more variety than "run around this tiny map and shoot everyone." You had medics to heal and revive dead players, engineers to repair or take out vehicles, support gunners to suppress fire and provide ammo, and snipers for recon and making sure the enemy has to stay in cover. I was hooked and never went back to CoD after that. Between BF3 and BF4 on both PC and consoles, I have a couple thousand hours of gameplay.
... But then BF1 came out, and I liked it, it was fun - but I just don't like the historical shooters as much as I like the modern ones. So I played about 100 hours of BF1, but always found myself going back to BF4.
Then BF5 came out, and I played it for 20 minutes, and I went back to BF4.
Then 2042 announcements starting coming out. "Back to basics, back to our roots, traditional Battlefield". I was ecstatic, the prodigal son returned - but... then it came out. I tried, I really tried. I hated it. It's terrible. It wasn't fun, it wasn't the Battlefield I remembered. This wasn't "back to basics" or anything like we had on BF4.
So no, I'm not holding my breath for Battlefield: CashGrab 6. EA burned me too many times. They can EAt my backside.

Even after some re-works the spawn areas may change but the problem persists.

    • @pituguli5816
      @pituguli5816 2 месяца назад +1

2042 has big open maps since the maps were designed for a large battle royal type experience initially, destruction would be good, squad play yes but strong anti cheat? Like what? More kernel level root kits? They don't work never have worked and never will work. What they need is to allow communities to host their own servers and let them moderate them instead of charging hundreds a year to host your own. I play BF1 in a region specific server, they have mods watching the matches constantly and cheaters get yeeted in less than a few minutes. EA would never fork out the money required to have mods watching every match on DICE hosted servers so they employ root kit AC that don't even work to appear as though they are doing something about it.
AC's don't work mate they never have, the AC's mine your data and the corpos then sell that data onto other corpos, I've never encountered an AC that actually stops cheaters in all my years of playing competitive FPS games. Truth is there is no way to stop them, if mods watch the matches and take feedback from chat they can make decisions on the fly after viewing the evidence before them. There isn't another way to limit it, I know the mods and owner of the largest two BF1 servers in my region and their way actually works. We don't need more AC root kits we just need them to allow communities to host their own servers and allow them to mod them.
Will this happen? No. Its all about engagement now and macrotransactions, they employ the best ways to get you to open your wallet, that is all that matters to them. We will never see those old gem games we grew up playing and enjoyed ever again, those days are gone.

We don't know exactly why Letho left, from everything shown it actually sounds like he left for personal reasons but didn't expect EA to outright close the studio he founded and let go most of its employees.
My thing is what did he expect? I'm pretty sure EA solely built Ridgeline cause of him to begin with, now that he gone they probably figured no one there could carry the torch or they were just expandable. Not uncommon to see many studios in the past close right after key staff member left.
Now I find it very interesting that so many studios at EA are basically focusing on the next Battlefield, it should be taken as good news but the same scenario happened with 2042 yet here we are.

  • @UberGrunk

I'm oldschool, i remember a time when i loved both Battlefield and CoD because they were such vastly different games. But then CoD became more popular and started pulling ahead and Battlefield made the big mistake of trying to become more like CoD.
What really pulled me in to the early Battlefield games was the massive scale that had never really been seen before where you had land, air and sometimes even sea battles going on in the same game, on the same map, at the same time allowing players to control ALL the equipment on the map, including massive aircraft carriers while CoD was (and still is to some extent)
focused on smaller scale, mainly infantry fighting, higher pace battles.
So to me, Battlefield going "back to its roots" would be going back to that combined arms, massive scale style. Maybe letting it be a bit slower pace but a completly different game experience from CoD.

What Battlefield 'is' has been a changing identity on what core beliefs to go by. I have started from BF1942 (1942 Wake Island Best map iteration for all current Battlefield), played peak BF2 (Loved PR Mod), Favourite Battlefield is BF2142 (Titan Mode, Best Game Mode for Battlefield), and the guilty pleasure of BF3.
I preferred battlefield when it was exciting the mind of creating immersive places to fight wars regardless if based on real or fiction.
Where strangers could work together and grow that when battlefield could backup the boast that the core was teamwork, then being optional since Bad Company with everyone not talking, focusing on their personal assignments since BF3 then playing the objectives.
I've past the stages of grief for a longtime that accept it will not come back have not spent a dollar in 2042 only tried it out when free no regrets. Even when they say going back to roots it means nothing to me because they cannot make rewarding promises, I had concerns of 4 classes in 2142, still think BR is too late a PVE extraction like Helldivers 2 better suits Battlefield, and beside from Decent stories from Bad Company they have not made any great or memorable stories (Only prologue to BF1 is only memorable thing).
I hoped Battlefield would learn it's lessons and improve, it hasn't for a decade and even with disagreements with the community on different aspects, I wouldn't have wished for any including those I disagreed to receive a 2042, especially not again, give them Bad Company 3.
Overall, I don't have any expectation of a redeeming franchise, but as with games if your still having fun with battlefield I hope you still pursuit playing where you enjoy, as for me I'm playing Helldivers 2, for Managed Democracy!

I wish I even cared about Battlefield 2042 being over... I tried it out twice, but it was just the most hollow BF experience ever. The graphics were great, the guns were good, the classes and "abilities" were innovative and fun after some updates, in a vacuum. But the total experience was about as fun as doing the dishes. And that's not just me being old and jaded, seeing as I've been around long enough for BF1942 to have been one of my first experiences of proper online gaming. I still enjoy gaming, just not trash like BF2042.
The maps were unnecessarily large, felt dead and disconnected. Plus, the size made it hard to feel like you could actually make a difference in the outcome of a game by hitting objectives, or thwarting enemy advances - I just couldn't get around fast enough, or rely on teammates caring enough to do objectives instead of just racking up kills without a care for the team result.
There will likely never be a good BF game ever again. At best, we will get more BF titles with amazing marketing prior to launch, followed by a dogshit end product. All hype and gimmicks, without substance.

People rag on V or Hardline but in spite of their flaws, they still felt like Battlefield and they still brought their own improvements and ideas to the table. 2042 threw it all away, and so even after...2, 3 years, it feels so far behind older Battlefield games. It even feels far behind its competitors. I don't think this will kill BF. So long as CoD exists, EA will still try to compete with it. But I feel like the next Battlefield will have to fight even harder to win back trust. Doesn't help that the old guard is now their competitors too

I see a reoccurring theme here with EA and the developers working for/with them. DICE devs bumped heads to EA higher ups which 2042 was the result of that messy situation and now this fiasco with Ridgeline studio and the head bumping heads with EA. It may just prove the point that the higher ups are ruining things for Battlefield. When you have the bad ass DICE developers who made great games step away from EA and make their own studio because of bad blood with the suits and now this news, things seem to be pointing in that direction. EA is shooting themselves in the foot from the looks of it.

Battlefield 1 was the last true masterpiece Battlefield game. Battlefield 5 had amazing gameplay though and had potential to make a comeback and become one of the best WW2 games ever but they just decided to abandon that opportunity and then they had Battlefield 2042 which the trailer got us hyped and the setting is such a cool idea and feels like a possible near future scenario with World War 3 and climate change but then of course they messed that up to and didn’t live up to the hype and they had a chance to redeem themselves and the game felt like it was starting to make a small comeback and then they pull the plug now. I fucking hate EA so damn much and how much they fucked over DICE and the Battlefield franchise. I fear that DICE and Battlefield will never be able to make a comeback.
