A ride on Birney tram No.302 - Bendigo 12/6/17

A ride on Bendigo Tramways' 'Birney' car No.302 bwtween the depot and North Bendigo. In amongst the Talking Tram commentary you can hear some great sound effects from this tram.

Great video. It demonstrates one of the reasons why the Birney cars quickly fell out of favour in the US; the jerky, jolty ride, resultant from having four wheels instead of eight!

that tram has the older controls found on trams starting at Y and ending at sw4 yet birny 217 at hawthorn has diferant controls did bendiho ask for different controls when they orderd theres

I'm afraid the tram's noise drowned out the recorded narration on the on-board audio PA system. If anyone wants to see a Birney tram close-up, #11 is on display at the Sydney Tramway Museum, Loftus, NSW.

the birny tram 217 orderd by the MMTB is at the hawthorn depot so there is a nother birny on display
