A slightly belated comment with thanks for posting this Jamie. I really enjoyed it in terms of the content and the high quality of your production. I've done the Way a few times and one useful tip for people to note relates to something that you noticed. There were a lot of people at Beinglas on the Tuesday night and elsewhere on other nights even though you weren't walking in high season. One reason for this is that there is a bulge in numbers every week. Because of the way that our working lives are organised most people start the WHW (and other longer trails) at the weekend which means there is a bulge in the numbers heading north, putting pressure on facilities and accomodation. If their schedule allows I really strongly recommend that people start on Tuesday or Wednesday so you are part of a much smaller cohort making your way along the trail. It makes life much easier.
Thanks for kind your comment! You made some great points that others reading these comments should take on if they plan to do the WHW. It was a great hike and I'm sure I'll be doing it again sometime :-)
Just enjoyed your video to revisit and relive the WHW. I finished last friday in 9 days and you are right, the weather makes all the differece. I camped the whole way and had much rain all the time, hailstorms and galeforce winds the last three days. It was brutal, espacially the parts where you are all exposed from Rannoch moore onwards. But nonetheless it is an experience of a lifetime ad I would do it all over again! Have a good time and safe travels!
Thanks for your comment. Glad to hear you had a great time. Yes, the weather makes so much difference! I suppose with walking in Scotland, you never really know what the weather will be. Safe travels to you too! JG
Fantastic video! I enjoyed your adventure. Good advice about getting an early start. My husband and I are coming from the US next April to walk the WHW, and I so hope we are as fortunate as you with the weather! Thanks for sharing!
Love the video , and love the WHW, drymen pronunciation sounds like (drimen)👍sadlely the people that give up are always the ill prepared especially on conic hill , congrats on completing this wonderful walk to fort William , sadley beinglas campsite had since been 🔐
@@jamies_adventures Thanks for the tip. I'm actually hoping to move to that part (my family are from there) so that's good to know that it's the best bit!
@@jamies_adventures I left Glendale ski centre at 6am to try and beat the forecast rain to Kinlockleven, over the devils staircase, arriving just as it started so I beat it and a dry final day to Ft William, cheers and happy hiking.
excellent, thanks for the video, enjoyed it. I'm more tempted to take camera equipment , but that's probably because you had good weather, I'm sure if its chucking it down it would be another story
I was lucky with the weather for sure. Others haven’t been so fortunate. Definitely take gear that’s ready for rain. It is Scotland after all! Have a good trip! :-)
Thanks alot for your nice comment! Good luck on your trip, i'm sure you'll have a great time. Thanks for subscribing too, more videos coming along soon. Have a great day. JG
Hi Jamie great video by the way I’m heading there with a friend 9-13 sept, can’t wait, what pitch number did you get as we would love to crash there for the night
Just watched this. Great video and thanks for all the tips. Planning to do it next September but being a wimp and booking accommodation and baggage transfer. Which drone do you use for the footage? Definitely investing in one of those for the trip
Thanks! However you do it, you'll have a fun one! I use the DJI Mini Pro 3 drone (it was the Mini 2 on this trip though). But any small drone will be handy to have. Have a good one!
Great video. Thanks for sharing💚 Is there any free parking near Milngavie or Glasgow for 8-10 days? Like going back to the car after Fortwilliam from Glasgow. Thanks
Thanks! I just googled the permit bit at Loch Lomond and done it all online beforehand. In the end though I just turned up at the campsite next to the Loch and paid. The rest of the sites I just turned up too.
yes yo have defantly inspired me as i am approaching 60 and i would love to get sponsered for a charity not sure which one yet lol thank for this as i have not camped in my life ,but always wanted to do this for experienceof the outdoors. Not sure if it would be safe as a female doing this alone x
There were plenty of female solo hikers doing this. But I recommend to do a few trial runs (long walks / camps) nearer home before you take on this trip.
Hi there. Great video! I will start walking the WHW in two weeks. You recommend to get up early. At what time did you usually start walking? You said at sunrise, but could you specify the time? Thank you in advance! Excited to start walking.
Thanks for your nice comment! I got up around 5am. I think one day was around 4.30am. I just recommend getting packed up and going early to miss the crowds (plus it's beautiful that time of morning). It worked for me a treat. Enjoy your trip, you're going to love it! JG
@@jamies_adventures Thank you for your great tips! They were really helpful. I just finished the WHW in six days and it was awesome, although I must say the weather was really nice.
Hi. Sure. Thanks for your comment. Day 1: Milngavie to Drymen (12 miles) Day 2: Drymen to Sallochy Campsite (near Rowardennan) (14 miles) Day 3: Sallochy Campsite to Beinglas Farm Campsite (near Inverarnan) (16miles) Day 4: Beinglas Farm Campsite (near Inverarnan) to Bridge of Orchy (19 miles) Day 5: Bridge of Orchy to Kinlochleven (20 miles) Day 6: Kinlochleven to Fort William (15 miles)
Hello, thank you for the video, I also want to do the trail in 6 days in June, would you raccomend booking the campsites in advance? I’m not sure if l want to do it all wildcamping or not since I’ve read that in some places is forbidden.. Thank you in advance 😊
Hi! You're not aloud to Wild camp along Loch Lomond, so probably a good idea to book a campsite along that part. I managed it without booking any other campsites, I just rocked up and got a space every evening. Although I can imagine if you go in the mid summer it could get very busy. Also, the campsites are all "wild enough" to still have a great experience. Have a great trip!
Hi. Yes, I bought 5 meals in advance. There is food along the way, but I was glad to have my pre bought meals for the evenings. I had Real Turmat (they are really tasty) meals purchased from Base Camp Food (basecampfood.com/). Thanks for the comment. JG

How easy is it to get supplies? Are there plenty shops along the way ?
Yes, there are quite a few in the towns you go through.
Thanks , hoping to sort it out for the end of May ,

how do you go about booking the loch lomond side camping spots?

How much was the taxi from fort William to the start?
The taxi was quoted at £180. But in the end, luckily, I managed to share it with 2 others. In the end I payed £70. It took about 2.5 hours.
@@jamies_adventures I take it there was no trains for you.
@@sbc1t You can get to the start with a train. But it took too long and too much hassle for my plans.

What tent are you using is it the hillaberg akto?
Hi. No, it's the fjallraven abisko lite 1.
