I've just been asked to do the 3 peaks with a friend. I will need to train, being 69, but relatively fit. Your video was great to get a feel for it, and I appreciate your advice. Cheers
Thanks for your kind comment, and good luck with the training! :-)
You’ll be fine as long as you pace yourself and remember to eat and drink. Sounds silly but you’d be amazed how many people I come across on my travels who are struggling to reach summits and they say ‘I only had a banana this morning cause I wanted a light breakfast’ etc tc 🙄🤦🏼♂️
Big bowl of porridge with peanut butter, honey, a sliced banana and some protein powder in - the best breakfast I found to have before a long hike. And bring lots of water, sugary snacks and beef jerky 🍻
@WeRemainFaceless Great advice :-)
Great video, thanks. My wife and I are taking on this challenge at the end of April this year.
Thanks and good luck. It’s a great day out! Enjoy! :-)
Enjoyed this video, very much. Very scenic, everything is s green! New friend here.
Thanks for your nice comment. Much appreciated!
an enjoyable watch. congratulations to the both of you.
Thanks!
@@jamies_adventures your welcome. nice to watch an easy going , honest, organic kind of video with nice story telling.
Always a good idea to check the weather forecasts - mountain forecasts (MWIS or Met Office) give a lot more detail than normal forecast. You're right about the temperature difference between valley and top. You're lucky having Sarah with you to remind you what the hills are called 🙂.
Yep, I’m terrible with names!
Great video, top effort on the hike in windy conditions by the looks! I’m taking on the 3 Peaks in a few weeks, looking forward to it.
Thanks for your comment. Have a great time when you do it, it's a great day!
Very good, Jamie. Enjoyed your experience. Excellent information and advice. Well done to you both!
Thanks! :-)
Great trip out for you. Famous route that is well looked after. Pretty good conditions. Best wishes on the next. First time watching.
Yeah, it was a really great day! Thanks for your nice comment. JG :-)
Thank you for this - I am ‘support vehicle’ for
my husband and daughter today and just
met them at Philpots farm. I wouldn’t have known it was there (lovely coffee and flapjacks).
Great! I'm glad you enjoyed the flapjacks! Hope everyone got round ok. Well done! JG :-)
Is that farm on the route or do u need to break off??
The farm in the video with the snacks is on the route
Well done Guys
Ive done it myself a few times but perhaps 20 years ago.
I watched with interest as im attempting it this week 😂
Really enjoyed your film
Tony
Good luck and have a great time! :-)
great video explaining the route and very informative
Thanks for your kind comment! Much appreciated :-)
Helpful video, thanks. We are attempting this challenge this coming weekend so a very useful video to find.
Thanks! Have a great time :-)
How did it go?
Well done. Perhaps a future challenge ? - came down that path on Ingleborough last month and it is pretty steep (part of the Dales Highway). But when you think that the fastest time for the Yorkshire 3 peaks is about 2hr45min - they must be mad!!
Yeah, some people are made from different stuff huh! Thanks for the comment :-)
Great guide, Jamie
Thanks. Appreciate your comment! :-)
Great effort guys congratulations 🥳 good achievement this 1. New subscriber here
Thanks! :-)
My tips: do a recce so you know where the water is. It's a limestone landscape so surface water is less available than you'd find in the Lake District. Also perhaps leave a vehicle halfway with useful stuff such as clean socks, water, food etc. The less weight you carry the easier it will be.
Great tips! Thanks for commenting. :-)
Great video guys! Could I ask, is there an opportunity on the route to get more water?
Thanks! There’s a burger van near the viaduct that may do water, but not sure. My advice is take plenty of water!
Yes there is a drinking water tap at Philpin farm barn where the snack shop is, it's at the back of the barn near the lockers and is open 24/7. I walk the 3 Peaks every year and it is very useful as I now only need to take 1 litre of water for the first half of the walk and then top up another litre at the barn. And I get a cup of tea at the barn as well 👍
Nice vid ,with good info..😊 thanks
Thanks for your comment! :-)
I'm about to do it for ,bit of a warmup for ultra.what time did you roughly do it in?
We walked it in 11h30 (ish with some stops) I think :-)
Done it 6 times mainly for charity it not to be taken lightly l now do one peak a time more enjoyable great video
6 times is amazing! Awesome :-)
@jamies_adventures We've just completed the 3 Peaks, looks like you had better weather than us, wind like no other on the top of Ingleborough! Lovely area though, enjoyed it, but a real challenge!
Well done! Weather makes such a difference on big walks.
Doing this in July. Beats walking on water!!
It sure does
Nice vid, in 2020 we managed it in 11hrs 9mins. We tackled Whernside last and that steady uphill from the viaduct for 4 miles almost killed me off.
Its defo a challenge not to be underestimated, and I must be mad considering doing it again with a different group of friends in about a months time
painkillers for lunch i think
Ha! It is tough huh! Good luck when you do it again. Hopefully the weather is good for you :-)
Great vid dude
Cheers! Thanks for the comment :-)
Is this " shop/cafe/toilet " more or less on route after the "wernside" descent ???? Thank you.
Yes, it's on the route. You walk right past it.
Hi was the vending machine cash only? Thanks
No, I used my watch to pay. So any contactless would work fine. :-)
@@jamies_adventures much appreciated Jamie.. doing the route tomorrow with my daughter and didn’t want to miss out!
@@philjeffrey1691 have a great trip!
Tackling this September. Great video
Awesome! You’ll have a great time! Thanks for the comment :-)
How possible is it to get lost without a map ??
Well, anythings possible. I always say have a paper back up. But a phone based map is also good to have. Although, there are plenty of signs along the path.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
