I find that making it look easy is actually a problem because it doesn't teach you problem solving. If you try something that doesn't fit his exact example it can be difficult to figure out how to make it work.
Hey would you be interested in doing another episode where you take a few viewer’s beat and “fix” them? You did it once and it was really helpful so I’d like to see you do it again. That G-Funk episode I recommended would also be cool.
its pretty crazy that iv been using FL studio since fruity loops 3, put this video on not expecting to learn anything, yet you have casually pointed out some shortcuts that i have never known existed in over 15 years of using FL lol. so many things iv done in such a more time intensive way. great video
Learn from the greats. Rebuild beats. Learn the dynamics of your favorite songs. It will carry over. You don’t need any knowledge of theory to make good beats. You just have to know what makes a good song at the most basic of levels.
Dude this is sick! Ableton did something like this but obviously not available for everyone and it also detected accidental notes too. Looks like you’ve fixed that too. Good work!
i learned music theory by making beats because i had a very simple understanding of music and just made whatever sounded good, then when i did more research i realised i already knew a lot
My biggest challenge in beat making has always been adding new instruments and figuring out how to put notes in piano roll and avoid clashing between sounds. When you said that you don't know music theory I was shoked because I had thought that you must be good at music theory that you easily add new instruments to your beats and all of them sounds good. Thanks Navie for this video. *Sorry for my bad English
2:10 PAUSE!!! 😂 I started creating in GarageBand from my now second phone, the iPhone X! But since February last year I moved up to the MPC Beats using my MPK Mini 3 then eventually my MPC Live II!
that's crazy I just started making beats with no music theory in GarageBand and honestly loops is a great way to get adapted to it coming from video editor I got my first song I produced dropping in a couple hours
As a classically trained pianist trying to get into making beats... I creamed my pants 58 seconds in, as soon as you started talking about stacking building blocks vertically,
I know you probably want see my question so like you put the snares on the 2 & 4 like that how would you do it for trap beats that the snares going on the 3 & 7 and you only using a 4 bar pattern length
Yo so since trap is a fast BPM your right the snares would go on beat 3 of the first bar and then you count to the 7th beat and place a snare, a easy way to think of it is put the snare on beat 3 for each bar and the pattern is 2 bars long hope this helps!
You've been producing for 15 years and claim to not know a single thing about music theory? I've been watching for a few years now and am going to have to call BS on that.
this is hand down the best channel for beatmaking , he really does a great job at making it look easy and mapped out for you , Thanks a lot man

We need a breakdown of the new JPEG album. It feels like he learned how to play the guitar and made that his personality.
You should only have one or 2 sounds in the verse and let it build the put most sounds in the hook and bridge but good tutorial I’m learning a lot

If I had to attribute one person to my journey in beat making. It would have to be Navie D. Thank you so much for these videos.
