  • An experiment with AI. Not perfect. I left in the mistakes. Brian model by Mike LeRoy.

Would love to a version with Dennis on lead.

Oh, my goodness, this is so realistic and mesmerizing! Is there an actual song by Brian of this title. I saw Brian and his band some years ago. I'm blown away by the BrianBrainity of this track. Good grief I can hardly believe my ears!

OK... I just wrote an entire paragraph and RUclips decided to delete it for no reason, mildly infuriating, but OK. In short: This was written by Brian and Beach Boys' band manager at the time, Jack Rieley in 1971 for the album "Surf's Up", a really good album overall that I suggest listening to. Jack sings lead on the original, but it was initially intended for Brian to sing it, but I am unsure why he didn't end up doing it.

@@Providence..He might have not felt up to it, or gave it to Jack because he thought it suited him. He gave God Only Knows to Carl just because he wanted Carl to have a lead on Pet Sounds

Why such an overwhelming version didn't appear on the feel flows bowset ? I sometimes think that awesome gems remain hidden for some unforgivable reasons.

This is an AI created vocal, not an outtake.

Yes, this is AI. I don't think there is a surviving tape of Brian singing this, unforunately.

@@biscuitwarrior There are several stories about why Brian didn't sing this. Mostly, that he really didn't want to, and when Jack Rieley would push him to do the vocal, Brian would ask Jack to sing the lines for him to give him an "example" of how it should be sung. Jack did this with each passage. This went on for a few weeks, until Jack had finally sang the WHOLE song. Brian pieced it together and there it was. Brian sort of tricked him into doing it, as Brian thought Jack had a better voice for the song, and his voice had more of that "dying tree" sound....I think I read that somewhere!! Anyway, it's always been a favorite, and when I tell other Beach Boys' fans this, they think I'm nuts. Well, maybe, but an emotional tidal wave of a song!! Dig, DmGrk
