Love this channel so much got myself a 4ft tank been great fun, just having trouble with my tinfoil barb's. They seem to rip everything up or eat it, any suggestions on what plants to get or what I can do to make it more natural in there
Have you read the terms.. I would love to donate but being in Canada the percent on payments is 3 % and if I wanna leave the fee is crazy. If it was just a dollar a month and i could stop payments whenever, I would, but that contract :/
Can I just say that I’m so pleased that you’re interested in and pursuing goldfish for your tanks! I really love their look and they can be a very entertaining species to keep. Yet, it seems hardly any RUclipsrs like or keep them. Keep on keepin’ on! Going to donate to your patreon, would love to see more Goldie content
I enjoy many of your projects, but this is the first one I'm genuinely jealous of. Love the fish and the aquarium. Hope you keep us updated on this one.
Ranchus are usually kept in such terrible conditions because people treat them like they're not worth bothering for. They look so much more beautiful in a planted tank, thank you for sharing!
THE BEST goldfish scape I’ve ever seen...practical,yet natural...with no substrate,it’s the best of both worlds...all your tanks look great...you have the ability to create aesthetically pleasing, natural scenes in your aquariums...it’s excellent, tank after tank..!!! Please continue to amaze us...THANX..!!!
Aw, you don't understand how happy I am to see this video!! And thanks for adding the Duckweed!! Goldfish love snacking on it, so if you have an endless supply and you need to get rid of some, put it in the Goldie tank, and they'll love it as a nice, healthy snack! Also, for me, I always add some Romaine or green leaf lettuce, and use the Omega One veggie clip to hang it on the side. And Goldies LOVE grazing on lettuce, spinach, blanched zucchini, green bean, pea, apple, etc!
They're so cute! I'd keep goldfish, if I didn't already have dreams of a huge community tank. Guess I'll live vicariously through others. Thanks for posting. 😊
I am just setting up my first planted ranchu tank after 3 years of tropical fishkeeping! I am so excited to delve into goldfish and your video has been a great inspiration for how to set their tank up.
This is my favourite set up of yours. You've done a great job at making the fish the focus. However, the actual aquascape is stunning, beautiful, and soooo natural. I love it.
such cuties!!! my abuelo used to call my abuela “como un pescadito” bc he said she looked like a cute little fish. i never got it until now seeing these cuties hehehehe
Looks Fantastic, I tried with River Rock and Java fern it was ok they did batter the fern and they really don't appreciate the light so like yourself I added duck weed and they were eating it quickly, soon out grew my 135L tank and squabbled constantly...I ended up building a 1000 gallon pond and put them in there. I wish you good luck because I really like goldfish and plants, keep us updated, lovely job I'm almost tempted again. on one note you could place the intake a couple of mm the floor of the aquarium, that's where I'd put it should catch most of the mess they make. GL best Lee
So many comments - congrats! I cannot go through all of them so probably many already mentioned to put some sand at the botton of the tank. Yes, as a keeper of goldfish for more than a year I highly recommend this. Goldfish love to dig into the sand. Obviously this makes some mess sometimes but you have your tank planned very well and I do not see that big issue in your case. Try it and make them more happy! :)
Greetings from Oregon! I am setting up an aquarium for ranchu goldfish right now! They are so cute, I absolutely love them and have wanted some for years. This gave me a lot of inspiration and insight. Looks awesome, great job!
I have been taking care of Goldfish for most of my life. I've always loved them with the long ribbon like tails. I have 6 total, 1 Pearlscale, 1 Red Cap, 1 Ranchu, and 3 Orandas! Love my fish💜💜💜 My Ranchu swims around like a tank.
i just bought a 55 i haven't set up yet to upgrade my pair of goldfish from their 30 gallon tank and have been looking for scape ideas, i might have found my inspiration here!!
Aww they look fantastic in their new home! So awkward, wobbley and weird that they become just adorable. The island look fantastic and the black bare bottom make it look like a green island above an abyss, super cool.
This is really inspiring. I just inherited two goldfish a little unexpectedly but they were in such a small tank. I want to do something like this for them soon
my daughter and I thank you for making a really cool video. We really liked the part where Chocolate, Pumpkin and Ghost went into this amazing space 🍀🐟🐠🐠🍃
it really helps if they can swim trough it and behind it that gives them much more space to play ore just be a second away from the other goldfish. then they leave the plants much more alone. i do planted tanks with my goldfish and i found out that works really great because they leave your plants alone. you do have to change it up in the so much weeks to keep them triggerd.
I am the one who likes your video before watching .. I also have a dream to build planted tank but I can't afford right now 😊😋😋 because planted setup is very very expensive in India.. thanks for Inspiring us ♥️♥️ love from India ♥️♥️

I can't imagine that. 😂 I was looking for information about gold fish about one hour ago. I jumped on the YT and I see your new video added one hour ago. Magic! 😍😊😂
I am in the very, very beginnings of setting up a Ranchu tank (because, ermagherd!!! they are so cute!!!). It will be my first "larger" aquarium and THIS is incredible! Thank you for so many great ideas!
Oh man it is amazing! I have been checking my RUclips three times daily waiting for this video since you announced it! As a fellow goldfish keeper, ( 17 over 6 tanks 😬) it’s so great to see them showed so beautifully and that you can have goldfish in a beautiful tank with plants! Love love love this build!! ❤️
The tank looks really great! It is so nice to see goldfish being kept properly 😊 You are such an inspirational guy, I just love the "simplicity" of the way you're thinking and doing things! 😁
This is so wholesome 😊 also for some reason I thought the fish were much bigger but then they were so tiny when u held them! I love goldfish but I don't know if I'll get more I don't want to go through watching them get swim bladder issues like my first one.
I agree lol. I can’t help but roll my eyes at myself because I see all the other fancy goldfish and I feel bad that they were bred that way but then I see ranchu and I’m like 😍 must have someday
Hi, wow I learnt a lot especially how to fix the moss on the rocks. Aquascaping is something you really do show your education within. That tank looked amazing. The fern was a game changer. It brang height and a focal point. My other points, there are two... You really don't need to do the silly take parts.. I watch you because you know what you are doing and talking about. All the tanks quality of clarity shows off. and the fish show they are happy. Second part is I am sorry but I have a favourite. Hi there ghost. The problem is the old days of win a fish has downgraded goldfish, I haven't had a tank for years but I am seriously thinking about starting up again.
I've been planning for a long time to aquascape my goldfish tank but I want no substrate and quite simple and also nice to look at. What you've made is a GREAT example. Thank you so much for sharing your art. Its really beautiful.
Gold fish are awesome! I have them for 12 years now in A 800l tank. I have all kinds of them and they became huge. They all ave their own character, are very tame and when I walk near the tank they all start to beg for food. They could eat all day if I let them :D They really watch what is going on in the livingroom. They love to eat the plants as well lol, so I have to buy new one pretty often. They are tiny cute garbage tanks. I really love my goldfish
Pebble mountain is looking fantastic. 👍👍 Please give them a gravel bed. Use black shrimp gravel 4mm: It will block the reflections of the glass bottom for the camera, does not add nutrion like soil, and the ranchu get something to chew on. A layer of 10mm will do.
You got amazing skills, very creative, I love goldfish and planted tank but was not aware we can have both together, thanks for this video, The audio, video, it’s timing and the steps you explained are of perfect quality. You made my day, thanks again
I do live the look of this tank never thought I’d like a bottomless tank but you’ve smashed it 👌 but personally am not a goldfish fan I think some shinners in there would look stunning 👀😂 but nah it’s what you want and like and good job bud
Those plants don’t need sand or anything to anchor down on? I wanted to do something similar to this with plants for my betta but I thought they had to have substrate.
I have a local aquarium shop that sells rocks. They're really expensive! 3.99/lb doesn't seem that bad until you realize a pound was a lot lighter than you thought it was😅😅 I may or may not have accidentally spent $20 on four small rocks the other day. Good thing you can find them in the woods and disinfect them :D
There's sceptics and 'experts' for every hobby. There can be problems with keeping Goldfish, many overstock, overfeed etc. You have a huge knowledge, and you've applied it well to this ,often seen as tricky, area of the hobby. This method looks awesome, and no doubt others feel the same, I see this based on the fact that, at the time I'm writing this, you have no thumbs down! So if anyone can disprove the rule it's you. Keep up the good work Bro.
Just the vid I was looking for. I have a java fern but wanted more green with out having to use substrate. Basically as low maintenance as possible so I'm not put off the hobbie. Thanks for the ideas the tanks an fish look great 👍
Man.... what a master piece.... did you ever think about entering in some competitions? There’s money to be made there... but most of all, recognition.....
Tank looks brilliant! Nice to see someone doing something with their goldie tank, bare bottom is definitely the best way to keep goldfish I think with how messy they are.
The first time I got some Ranchu fry I was so annoyed since they we're a rejected ones from my uncle's friend. The guy doesn't know what to do with the fry since he doesn't want to cull or throw them he just decided to give them to some who are willing to take them. As I researched and care for the fry (juvenile now) I found them so tame and really want to swim around my hands when I do water change they are chubby and very curious little cuties. Now I really fell in love with them.

How many litres for 1 pair of gold fishes?
Nice video what do you recommend for led lights for 55 gallon fish tank?
Hey m.d did the ranchu crew ever eat the plants / moss. I have 3 gold fish and would love to recreate this. But am wary. Thanks x
Those fish must be thinking they died and went to heaven.....love the tank..
I hope so :)
I might be getting a goldfish
Got to convince mum and dad
MD Fish Tanks my mum and dad once put 4 fishes in a 5 gallon until they died (I was like 5) rip
when the spawning chase begins, that female wll face death from exhaustion. I hope you have a tank for her isolation

nice alanna. Thanks for the donation when you get time...I think im hooked on goldies!!!!
The tank looks fantastic! And the ranchus are like cute chubby hamsters.
yeah, or water puppies :D
I'd say cute chubby Ratties!! (I don't like Hamsters very much...)
You've done it, I'm getting them for my next tank.
Yea exactly like my hamster when he turns info a fluffy ball
Exactly
the goldfish have such innocent looks in their eyes. I'm happy they have such a pretty home

Yes of course :)
Ranchus are usually kept in such terrible conditions because people treat them like they're not worth bothering for. They look so much more beautiful in a planted tank, thank you for sharing!
Never been a fan of bare bottom tanks but this one is beautiful. You’ve changed my mind. And, of course, with goldfish it makes a lot of sense.

well thank you very much :)
This is my favourite set up of yours. You've done a great job at making the fish the focus. However, the actual aquascape is stunning, beautiful, and soooo natural. I love it.

Yup that is true!
Beautiful goldfish tank. Those goldfish probably believe they are in heaven. Gorgeous tank.

What's not to like about goldfish. They're so darn cute and vibrant.
Greetings from Oregon! I am setting up an aquarium for ranchu goldfish right now! They are so cute, I absolutely love them and have wanted some for years. This gave me a lot of inspiration and insight. Looks awesome, great job!
Judging by the behaviour of your goldfish the white one is probably a male and the orange one is most likely a female
yes.,....that's what we were thinking...sniff sniff lol
Caviar
Can confirm - I have had the same behaviour and had some fry on Spring (but it was not intentionally).

That tank looks big enough for two more fish, so peaceful to watch your vids, helps me sleep.
I have been taking care of Goldfish for most of my life. I've always loved them with the long ribbon like tails. I have 6 total, 1 Pearlscale, 1 Red Cap, 1 Ranchu, and 3 Orandas!

It’s lovely to see goldfish in a planted tank, liked! I also love the half naked tank idea, looking neat! Now I want some ranchu, lol

I've been planning for a long time to aquascape my goldfish tank but I want no substrate and quite simple and also nice to look at. What you've made is a GREAT example. Thank you so much for sharing your art. Its really beautiful.
I LOVE the goldfish and the tank. Perfection. Thank you for testing all this out for us. When we move in a few years I’ll be copying you. :)
thats great. You wont be disappointed
That island scape is AMAZING! Absolutely love it. The chunky monkey lil goldfish don't look half bad in there either 😜
👍💕👍
they are so cute arnt they.
Pebble mountain is looking fantastic. 👍👍 Please give them a gravel bed. Use black shrimp gravel 4mm: It will block the reflections of the glass bottom for the camera, does not add nutrion like soil, and the ranchu get something to chew on. A layer of 10mm will do.
yes, i was thinking of adding the black gravel :)
Turned out great man!👍 Those Goldfish look great in that Tank, their color really contrast nicely against all the green!
yeah i thought it would :)
They will get big quickly if they eat all the duckweed you can provide. Glad you went with the big tank from the start.
brilliant. And i will upgrade if i need to :)
Get some archer fish for those flies :P
ahhhhh...thats a great idea!!!!
Yes
Unique setup, I like it. Canister filter is definitely the way to go for a big freshwater tank like that.
I really enjoyed this setting. The final result is simple amaizing. The idea of an island works great with goldfish. Congratulations...
i agree (of course lol) it gives the fish lots of room too.
You got amazing skills, very creative, I love goldfish and planted tank but was not aware we can have both together, thanks for this video,

Thanks for a video on the goldfish. I'm a big fan of the Oranda's. I've had many tropicals in my younger days, I just enjoy the beauty of the Orandas.
On the bright side u can just feed all your extra duckweed to the goldfish
thats the plan
Oh gosh they are so cute, fish tank looks superb
Those plants don’t need sand or anything to anchor down on? I wanted to do something similar to this with plants for my betta but I thought they had to have substrate.
Brittney Nolan i have some slate-like stones and my plants do so well without sand or dirt. :)
Kira Champelli oh ok thank you!!
This is fantastic. I am planning a large tank with Orandas and Ranchus. I am inspired by your video to experiment a planted tank with Gold fish.
Anyone know where I can get rocks like this? looking for medium/large round-ish boulders
Keep up the good work Bro.
haha. well there are now. Some people thumb down for the music...you cant please everyone.
@@MDFishTanks Haha true! my mate has a youtube channel and his kids thumb him down, and they get their friends to do it too!!😂 keep up the good work!
"NOW THERE'S TWO!!" Ahahaha!
Love the names you gave the goldfish. They have a beautiful tank now.
I cant get enough duckweed for my goldfish they just eat it
Or is it getting sucked into the filter?
@@pepsi7223 nah man they hungry little duckweed goblins
My babys are also little pigs they eat every plant like candy
Just the vid I was looking for. I have a java fern but wanted more green with out having to use substrate. Basically as low maintenance as possible so I'm not put off the hobbie. Thanks for the ideas the tanks an fish look great 👍
I think I missed this, how many gallons is that tank :o?
It's 140 liters
I’m so glad you’re keeping goldfish now, as I love goldfish! Your ranchus really are adorable.

WOW I'm inspired. always a fan of gold fish even the colorful feeders but never scaped for them

The tank looks fantastic. They all look like they're enjoying their new home. And pleased Chocolate is doing ok 😊
thank you mandy :)
Man.... what a master piece.... did you ever think about entering in some competitions? There’s money to be made there... but most of all, recognition.....
Well. All you just need is a bench infront of that tank and a cup of tea. Chill af.
I am a newbie and your enthusiasm is AWESOME!! Thanks for great content!!
Scaping skills are hella perfect
Holy molly fish you work so neat.
Tank looks brilliant! Nice to see someone doing something with their goldie tank, bare bottom is definitely the best way to keep goldfish I think with how messy they are.
certainly easy to clean
@@MDFishTanks my thoughts exactly!
I was about to give up in my bare bottom goldfish tank (48 gallon) and have full planted one with betta sorority but this video came in time.😄
