It was because since no one was eagerly repenting of their sins, their hearts were hardened like stone, drowning in their own sins like a masochist diving head first into a pool of thorns because it was all he ever knew. But there were others who were quick to obey even in the Old Testament, and they were blessed and spared, so why would we be complaining about God seemingly "merciless" in the Old Testament when He HAS given them chances, but our ancestors were way too stubborn, since we are all bound by the original sin bore by Eve. If you think about it the mere concept of God is like cosmic horror level terrifying. Like imagine having always existed, before even time itself was created. How does one exist beyond time, and without being begun? And you're able to think in ways that are so unfathomably complex and intricate yet fully coherent. You have complete knowledge of every single thing there is to possibly know about the universe and beyond. At that point what do "thoughts" even look like? And you are so infinitely powerful and glorious that, if a human had the chance to lay their eyes upon you, they'd instantly evaporate. Imo it's so uncomprehensibly great that it's terrifying.
But what is good about God given his omnipotence and omniscience is that he created man to be able to pursue his infinite knowledge and creation and find joy in the constant discovery of new things

@@De_SelbyI'm not a believer, not because I think that a belief in a God is illogical or irrational, but simply because I dislike the idea. But I never understood people who hold your view on this. I had an experience after taking weed. I had a severe panic attack and I felt as if I was lifted up from reality and understanding forbidden knowledge. A funnel that I had to do the most to not look at or think about. I was dying, and I stopped seeing anything I thought was real even important. Pure terror.
I don't understand the point of this video. Can someone explain it to me? English is not my first language so it's sometimes hard for me to comprehend.
@@blackalpha8135I think the best way to explain it is that it is an existential horror video, which makes us question our own existence in a way that makes us nervous like the common sense that God would be in human standards (like in those representations where he there is an old man with a white beard). The idea that God is something so far above us that we can't understand him is unnerving, but to think that he is so close to us: “I don't watch the sky anymore. I don’t look up.”

I had a dream where a gray tall man stood in the doorway of my restroom and just kept looking at me. He had no eyes nor a mouth, and he looked like tv static with a human shape. Everything around him was dark and weird like lines and dots. I remember just feeling so afraid and terrified that I just repeatedly apologized in my dream, like I was fully aware of the man and everything that was happening. He didn’t say anything, just kept looking in my direction, and then I woke up. I laid in bed for about 30 minutes just petrified by the dream, replaying the dream over and over in my head trying to make sense of it. I have never had that dream again.
I had a dream once in which I saw God. It was like a planet, both the ground and the sky. Its skin was golden and it had eyes for mountains, mouths for valleys and wings for trees. It spoke to me, sounding like a train passing a suburban neighborhood and every day I regret not understanding what It was telling me.
You can ask him, he’s here. The God of the universe has died for you to live with him & wants to know you as a friend, just ask him to reveal himself and he will answer that prayer!

One man only pointed behind me at the large window at the front of the bridge. When I turned around to look, there were no stars, no nebula, nothing at all. All of it was gone. Where there was ambient noise of a working spaceship humming and footsteps on metal floors, now there was only silence. But it was if the silence had an overwhelming pressure, as if the silence WAS a sound. like a frequency that you couldn't hear, but you could feel resonate through you. It felt as if the void was rejecting us, or it was angry at our existence. It wanted the end of time and space to be complete and it couldn't tolerate us, and it wanted us to know.

We were not made to look up, to question our place in the greater cosmos. Look only down to the earth, for we are born of dust and to dust we shall return. You are not meant to hear the other side of the conversation. Return to sleep.
And from whence did the dust come, silly? Why, the sky itself. When one looks up, it's a clump of space dust gazing upon other instances of space dust to finally observe their beauty! Pretty cool imo
To reject the unknown is to reject your own humanity. Did the men of old extinguish their fires, because they did not understand them? Did they lull their children to sleep - silently - because they did not understand language? Did they not venture out into the howling dark, in search of food or water or shelter or meaning? To reject the stars is to reject your own humanity.
People seem to take this as some kind of incomprehensible horror, but I find it comforting in a strange way. The idea that God is an all-reaching kind of ethereal silence, something that if you were to stand along his side all you'd feel is this deep sense of nothingness as your very being itself is encompassed by his otherworldly splendor kinda soothes me. Once your time has come, you'll be striped of all the noise that's accompanied you throughout your existence. Be it noise of the mind, body or soul, all fades on the presence of this being of nothingness. And perhaps... that's mercy.

New testament: Jesus is such a cool guy!
Old testament:
So true
I think it’s also because god was less carefree he was like “THINGS NEED TO BE THIS WAY NOT LIKE THIS”
It was because since no one was eagerly repenting of their sins, their hearts were hardened like stone, drowning in their own sins like a masochist diving head first into a pool of thorns because it was all he ever knew.

God is not like us, more like self aware computer if you get deeper into the Bible. He knows everything because for Him everything already happened. God exists outside of time as we know. God calculated endless amount of possibilities. It is not that complicated if you think about it.

@@De_SelbyI'm not a believer, not because I think that a belief in a God is illogical or irrational, but simply because I dislike the idea. But I never understood people who hold your view on this. My understanding of the Christian God is that, he isn't just all knowing and all powerful and all present, he is all. He is everything, every object, person, every idea and concept. We are made in his image in the sense that we have the ability to comprehend this to a degree, and we have the choice to do with this knowledge and our lives what ever we want. Most suffering is man made, not all, of course, but we have the choice to end most of it, if we are being honest, it's just that we don't. If the Christians are right, I belive that our purpuse is to experience the work of God, or God itself because he is all, and that comes with suffering, but his love is that upon death we are reunited with him, once again made one with God, existing, not living, in an unexplainable bliss.

Where there was ambient noise of a working spaceship humming and footsteps on metal floors, now there was only silence. But it was if the silence had an overwhelming pressure, as if the silence WAS a sound. like a frequency that you couldn't hear, but you could feel resonate through you. We were not made to look up, to question our place in the greater cosmos. Look only down to the earth, for we are born of dust and to dust we shall return. You are not meant to hear the other side of the conversation.
Return to sleep.

That actually sounds pretty cool
I'll admit, to become one with silence is kind of a bliss
You're kind of mixing up rest or comfort with "nothingness". "Nothingness" isn't any closer to restfulness than to hectic unrest.
