I’ve been angry on a game before. REALLY angry. But I’ve never felt the urge to break something, especially something expensive🤨

I was in the same state, when absolutely everything in game made me mad. Especially when it comes to competitive games.
But it was never the games.
Of course, some do this only for the stream and just act to be angry, because it´s funny to watch.
All of these guys have massive mental problems. They hate the world and losing at a game - especially against other people - makes it far worse.
To play different (not competitive) games would make it a little better, but over all they need to get their private shit together...

The knowledge that some of these guys drive cars on public roads genuinely scares me.
What's sad is this (sort of) tame. The old WoW forums were saturated with tales about people doxing. someone or trying to "name and shame" . Some of those guys went to jail over polygons. Some guild that basically would speed run that game got so obsessed that they ranged from wirefraud, traffic, electronic breaking and entering, and I think one of the guys in it went so far off the rails he was wanted by interpol for extortion and embelselment plus a long list of petty theft.
Before the rise of Amazon, gamers spent a lot of time and money in electronics stores and emergency rooms.

Back in the day a nerds native habitat range extended from 7/11, the library, electronic gamer monthly, Nintendo power, best buy, Hollywood video, and then down the coast to goth bars, and fries electronics. In my immediate social circle: Geeks were frequently being picked up from urgent care. Two idiots had a nerd rage moment over fucking magic the god damn gathering! Tod and Fred, arm wrastled for: who was right about something in everquest, and also who got to use some sort of cheesy magic the blathering rare, misprint, still in the sleeves card deck of DAS UBER PWNG JA!! Like you said: both went to the ER. Tod cheated on the arm wrestling match and put all of his overweight 500lb body on Freds arm, who spent a long time in a full body cast and had a spiral fracture and dislocated elbow and shoulder.
