In his brain it really disappears, it makes a confusion on the brain, some people feels sick for that (vomit).
Not gonna lie, first time i played in a room where i couldn't walk around in, i really struggled to stand still the first few plays. You get used to it pretty quick, but it's not surprising that this happens the first time, as your brain get very easily tricked in VR if you're not used to it.

I love seeing all the parents upset by broken tvs but not saying anything before hand. Our whole family plays VR and we hear "Hey youre a little close to a wall/the tv, back up a few steps" all the time. The first step is to always use a boundary, but if you're gonna spectate, be helpful.

That part. When I spectate for my vr headset I'm always warming people who uses it but as soon as I get on( since it's mine) I have no one to help. I learned my lesson so when I'm alone I'm only playing golf lol

beyond what everyone mentioned, its crazy how often people will literally stare and watch the person playing get closer and closer to hitting something or falling or whatever and say absolutely nothing. I work at a vr arcade and I've had parents literally watching their kid play and say nothing as they slowly inch closer to the wall and then punch it and get hurt

It’s crazy how easily the brain begins to think that the vr is actually real due to how well they made it! How so many people react how they would in real life while seeing the virtual reality, making them run into walls.

ive been on vr for around 4 years at this point, your brain does eventually believe its real if youre on it for hrs a day every day. but surprisingly ive never experienced a lack of spatial awareness.

@@yoboy128 Absolutely not. The Quest 2 is a tank, Thrillseeker put it through a dryer, scratched the lenses with sandpaper and repaired them, bashed the controllers full force against a granite countertop, and it still worked perfectly.

And that is why I always use my valve index and not my quest, bc I hate how the cord is just hanging on the side of your head on quest. At least with the index the cord is behind you.

10:14 One thing I felt helped the immersion of Saints and Sinners is having a chair to sit in. Although I played it mostly standing, it felt nice to take a seat in the bus or on the boat, especially after long missions. I hope I can get my hands on a Quest 2 + appropriate PC upgrades. Probably will happen this summer.

I believe that even despite crashing into our TVs or accidentally swinging an arm and yanking the headset off of our heads, we can still enjoy the time spent in Virtual Reality.

You must have tried a cheap, shitty one because it’s really easy to imagine yourself in the game, especially since that’s literally how they are designed. If you wear the headset and earbuds, you have complete immersion and it’s incredibly realistic.
@@markus7166Been playing vr since the cv1. Ive never started running or trying to jump o to things in vr. It is very cool. Im never convinced it is reality. The relatively low fov, clear computer imagery etc all causes this. I think it is so.ethong to do with how some perceive and react to what is around them.

@@markus7166 It is very cool tech with some great content. However its content is to limited still which is why it has huge retention problems. The first vr device I used was the oculus dk1, first I owned was the cv1, and ive used many others like two vive vr headsets, rift s, tried some windows mr headsets, the quest 2 and 3 and im probably forgeting some.
The narrow fov, and that everything is around I believe 8 feet focal distance (could be wrong about the exact focal point, but until multifocal lenses becone a thing it is one set distance), combined with games that look like games (not an insult most game even those that we say have a realistic style are still stylized, and not trying to look exactly like reality) means it doesnt fool me that the room im in dissapears when im in vr or that what im seeing is anything but a game in vr.
Personally I dont want it to either. Im quite found of reality and enjoy many flat game, movies and vr games etc all the same.

When I started playing vr I was blown away and I couldn't understand why more people weren't playing it. After seeing this I kind of get why some people are nervous to give it a go.
I'll admit I wasn't prepared. I had been watching videos of Half-Life Alyx for nearly a year or so and finally decided to get a Valve Index to play it. 5 minutes into being just blown away by how immersive you really are, I tried to look over a wall and fell flat on my face in the room! It dawned on me that although it gave feedback to the controller that I had touched the wall, there was NO WALL to brace me in real life! My "there is no spoon" moment, I guess. Yes, you do need to work at getting 'vr legs', and it takes a good week to do it.
for the love of me I can't get into VR. Nausea, face, neck and eye strain, even for the really chill nature games. It just aint right. And I want to too. vr rollercoasters gave me like 3 days of lingering nausea.
@@grimbles39 what headset you have matters. Things that I have found to affect my nasea factors are the adjustment that affects the distance between your eyes (IPD?)... Had to play with that by standing in front of written words and adjusting it until it was clear and felt natural. The other thing was refresh rate. Anything below 100hz and sickness occurs for me. I have mine set at 144hz on the Index and I'm good. You have to ease yourself into it I think.
@grimbles39 it's called getting your VR legs. Some people start off with getting pretty bad motion sickness but you can over come it. When you feel yourself getting sick stop immediately don't push through it. Over time you'll be able to play with little to no sickness
@@francischambless5919 the term "VR legs" has nothing to do with being able to stand in VR lol. It's a term used to describe ones ability to play fast paced high movement games without getting motion sickness as virtual movement creates a disconnect in your brain and can make some people (a lot actually) get very sick.

I punched my TV playing VR and I feel both good and bad that I didn't damage the TV at all.
At first I was like "you should be glad it didn't break" then the oh... you found out your punches are that weak...
I'd still call it a win, I mean its VR, you were holding back those punches so you didn't break them into pixels, yeah, we'll go with that one. Haha, I would recommend clearing a bit more area out for it if possible, round two you might have improved that right hook!

What’s crazy is that my uncles best friend was the creator of Richie’s Plank Experience! I’ve meet him in person, and went to his house where I experienced vr for the first time ever. Back in early 2022, we were talking about the future of Richie’s plank and future games he was planning (AKA the Christmas updates).
