on relays which switch motors (fuel pump, window regulator, fans etc.) the contacts always wear, particularly if the motor developed a resistance e.g. due to corroded bearings, or worse if the motor completly stops under current (e.g. windows regulator). When the relay switches off, a spark burns the contacts. Congrats for this hard repair job! I would have used the opportunity to change all relays which switch inductive loads and also considered replacing the fuel pump to avoid a recurrance.

Hi .....can I pick your brain ? Peugeot 107 ......not my car ....but running fine then left 4 a good few days .then hire randomly sounded continuously until fuse was removed. Now no start turns over only spark at 1 cylinder of the 3 ..is this likely a repay ? Thanks
@Kevin Hancock I cannot imagine any fuse, which being pulled would result in 2 cylinders missing sparks. I would suspect the cables were bitten by an animal while you were gone, which may also account for the problem, you've pulled the fuse for. To check that, I would move the ignition coil and spark plug of the working cylinder to the non working cylinders cables. If there is no spark, the cables are broken. If there is a spark, the 2 other coils/spark plugs are broken. Good Luck!
@cyberbob I've done that already changed coils we even had 2 brand new ones in since sent back . Only cylinder 1 firing . I was aiming towards immobiliser issue but odd how the horn failed the same time maybe as u suggested something has been bittrn lots if cats in area etc
@@kevinhancock4064... the immobilizer would lock the ECU and result in no spark on any of the cylinders, i.e. can be excluded. The horn is wired from the fuse box at the left wheel dome, down to the left inner fender and may be coupled and now shortened with another cable (e.g. side indicator).

My dipped or dimmed headlights are not working. The main beam is working but the normal light for night driving is not working anymore.
Can I switch a LO4 unit with a LO3 unit?
Or which relay is for the dimmed headlights?

Thnx. =) I miss old Times when you just swapped faulty relay like a fuse and it was done under 5 minutes. It is insane to design things with built in relays.
korjasin oman vuosi sitten vasemman alakulman rele. pohja irti ja juota johtoja ja rele johtojen päähän. ei tarvi kumia kaivaa ollenkaan ei tarvi irrottaa. piirikorttia. musta rele vasen alakulma. mahtuu korttien välistä juottaa johdot kiinni ja normaali rele 12v johtojen päähän.

good evening, because I have encountered a similar fault in a smart 451 relay transmission, they are replacing the legs of this relay with the OMRON G8PE-1A4 if you want to try a better quality..

After having multiple electronic defaults I replaced my BSM L04-00 (citroen c4 phase 1 2005). 6 months later with new BSM the same thing is starting to happen again.
This issue is well known and ebay & co is selling this around 250euros right now .
I think by doing your method I could replace with a new relay with new contacts (from 2022) and not play russian roulette hoping I get a new BSM with not -too used contacts... hope this makes sense.

Je possède une c4 1.6 hdi avec un bsm d'origine l06-00, je l'ai changé car j'avais des problèmes de perte de puissance ( électrocanne pression turbo qui était mal alimentée) j'ai mis une version l11-00 ça a fonctionné 1 mois et maintenant ça recommence. Pensez vous que le bsm est réellement la cause ?

Sorry for delay for answer and thanks for feedback =). And what comes your question i dont know yet but a have seen that some other tuber opened just plastic can from relay itself and fixed the relay.. and offcource if abuse that plastic can on a top off relay then you can rip it off and solder wires to relay leftovers and put new relay to end off wires but it wont be pretty xd

In my module there was much more glue so it run down under the pcb and it was a real pain in the ass to get out so watch out, it might be a better idea to just cut off the back.
That is one way what o have also thinked trugh. I have one module waiting same repair and i will try to enter Back side off module... I'll post video from it when i get it done

I Have BSM L03 and i dont have comunication to Airbag ECU, according to schematic from autodata i think there is problem in the relay part of the BSM, and that it doesent supply power to Airbag ECU
In my quiq Google search i noticed that airag and belt pretensioning module is suplyed wia under dash fuse box. Fuse n.3. 5amps... So it might be nothing to do with your under hood bsm module. Are you sure that your airbag module is powered trough bsm module? If it is what is fuse number?

Relay was that OEM relay witch are onboard and i only fixed it but i can try to find datasheet for it

On a citroen C4 B7 1.4 vti 2011 the injector number 2 is always working and spitting fuel onto exhaust, I've replaced the injector but it does the same and on whichever injector I plug in number 2 connector it does the same, verified the wiring and it isn't that either but the signal on the white wire from injector 2 connector is continuous, does anybody have any idea?
If i have to guess i would put my bet to shorted and faulty injector driver mosfet on a bsm module.. if i got your fault diag right. So yours injector is always open when power is turned on?

Le problème est que la voiture ne démarre pas à cause de contacts de relais défectueux.
Le relais est vraiment difficile à changer et les modules de remplacement usagés ne sont plus disponibles. Cela signifie que la voiture est une poubelle si le relais n'est pas changé

I have doldering station with integrated desolder gun like link above. fi.farnell.com/proskit-industries/5ss-331-dg/spare-desoldering-gun-140w/dp/2474821. It will usually do the work but gets easily clogged and needs maintance. I prefer solder wig always when it is possible. It will do the trick and dont get clogged

Well done,I just sorted problem with my BSI ,the same type BSI as you have on video. Problem was : when I use remote control and locked the car up,than antitheft lock didn't let me start up later. I managed to reboot BSI and just can't use remote to lock the car up,just key old-fashioned way. Engine start up,all works.Will leave like this till further problem. F...k the remote.Thumb up. This is not the BSI in the video. The BSI lives behind the glovebox inside the car. This is the BSM or on the Peugeot/Citroen wiring diagrams the PSF1.
How did you know that F5 does not receive power? 🤕
Fuel pump not work and when measured voltage both end off fuse while cranking.

Hi, could you explain, what tools You are using and why you each step of you repair work.
In future mabye but now afterwards on this video it might be to difficult to re-edit whole clip. But first i cutted Back off case open with dremel multitool but it was fail because you cant repair unit from Back side. I pryied with knife that mould open that i managed to get pcb.s out off case. And then i used desoldering hun and also hot Air soldering station to seperate pcb.s. and after that again deloldering gun to desolder relay.
Relay i fixed with knife and cutted melted plastic away from connectors and then just putted everything Back togetger using soldering iron
There is kinda way to fix that without removing pcb.s when you pry The relay on topside of pcb and solder Wires directly to leftovers on pcb and another en off Wires you can just put standardi relay
I hear a sound in the bsm as sound of relay and missing electricity because drain the battery car. could be a relay??? or something else? txs!!
As i show in first video there was not broblem with driving relay. Broblem was bad solder joint witch prevents 12v power getting to relay and relay itself had bad contacts inside of it. And if you hear relay clic it can be that another relay witch connects power to ac unit.
And usually gentle tapping of screwdriver handheld part helps to diagnosing relay contact failure. They usually kinda will contact if mechanical vibration is aplied to relay . It is not permadent fix but maby gives you hint what is causing no start state. Check my new video. There i show way to fix that relay with new external relay

Hi.do you have xenon lights ? Because xenon lights fuse was only what i could quic inspection found.

@@ElectronicMechanicFinland the trouble is that my engine compartment fuse box has only 14 fuses, exactly the same as the fuse box on your video, hence I thought you might have some knowledge about fuse assignment in that fuse box.
It seems like my fuse box is a rare exemption, I will check each fuse with an electronic gauge and see which is gone. Anyway, thank you very much for your help, your effort is much appreciated. Kind regards

I'm going to change all the relays for future near breakdowns. This product is no longer manufactured and I cannot find it.
it is preferable to fix it before you buy used
You will need Powerfull soldering iron. The relay acts as heatsink and i was in trouble with 90w iron.

Yes this car is fixed. But i cant stop thinking to do same fix without soldering. I am pretty sure that this broken relay or bad solder joint is repairable by just adding new relay or and jumper wires on a top of bsm
i soldered cables to the backside of the relay solderings and put a new normal 12v relay to the cables no need for remove of borard. only make a hole in the blackbox corner. lower left corner. then close it with silicon glue

@@ElectronicMechanicFinland HI. Inside the Siemens control unit there are 5 relays. One powers the air conditioning fan but I don't know which one it is. Do you know what each of the 5 relays powers?

Hi friend. This module what i am working on is difrent and there are 13 relays=( but i watched that My video and you can see fuse F11 40amps and it is for Air blower- Air conditioner. The fuse is located near by 30A fuse and relay what is directrly under IT IS that what powers The fuse and Air blower.
In My video Time stamp 14:51 you can see empty slot in left down corner what is for ecu and Fuel pump. Right next to it on right side under The 30 and 40amp fuses IS The AC blower relay

😁 Thank you for the detailed video. Today it helped me repair the BSM L05 00 in Peugeot 607 module. I confirm, there is no need to unsolder the entire motherboard. In my case, it was enough to cut the housing in the places indicated at the end of the video. The relay leg looked the same as in the video. There is enough space between the boards to improve soldering. In addition, I also had to get to the relay itself to clean the contact and bend the plate for better contact. A sharp knife was enough to cut off the plastic cover. Thank you again!

In my 207 the climate Is dead,not working, The pump and the electromagnet are ok, but I don't hear the climate relay working after pressing the climate control button. Where Is the problem? if i connect the pump to 12v, it works. Help
Are refregant amount checked? If too low amount refregant in system then lowside preasure switch wont allow magnet clutch to switch compressor on?
And usually there are also outside ambient temperature limit witch disablesbac unit if to cold outside.

I dont know. Is your climate control mechanical manual or electronic? And are The fault codes readed? If electronic ac then eng managment can disable it if coolant system has anykind trouble?

as a German and automotive hobby mechanic, servicing french cars I can say that french cars are brilliantly engineered and that crabby fuse box unfortunately is a german product by Siemens.
i hope got an peugeot 307 sw , is a pain the remember relays are build in. and not easier to change as used to do before on old cars.
im having an silly issue with the headlights.
when i switch to high beam. i see he high beam outside but on the instruments keep showing me the green light meaning low beam. and dont showing the blue light meaning high beam.
im suspicious if maybe something about the bsm ..

Hello.. first thing what comes in My mind is that are your instiment cluster theese old kind replaceble backlight Glow wire Light bulbs? Because then you propably have replaceble light bulbs also in all Instrument cluster indicator light places.
