  • In Today's Tattoo tutorial we will be going over how to make a tattoo stencil with Procreate. In order to use procreate (which is an app) you will need and Ipad that is compatible with an apple pencil. You will need and apple pencil and lastly you will need to download procreate. It can be pricey but for me it was worth the cost. In this video we will briefly go over how I use the app to make my stencils on the Ipad and simply print them off when I am ready. We will be going over what techniques are possible when making the stencil and the ease of use.
    Hope you all enjoyed the video and if you did give it up a thumbs up and consider subscribing!!

      Thats awesome that you are able to do it freehand on the skin. 👍👍 I free hand a few little things here and there mainly just some extra stuff I want with my stencil. But 99% of the time I use a stencil. So learning to use a stencil and what no on top of your ability to free hand on skin then you should really be rocking in rolling!! Before you start to stencil you can change the opacity of the reference so that you can trace it with black and still see through any part of the image you are tracing. To change opacity click the image layer and the little n icon and the settings will come up to change opacity. It helps a great deal with fine details

    Like your set up been thinking more about digital art editing and stencils. With this inkjet stencil printer system makes the printing easy. You will have to. Try different applications of stencil stay or Right guard. Because I'm getting durable stencils. But think the Right Guard might be the best out the 3 different I used. Keep rocking.

    H.E. double hockey sticks YEAH MATE!!! 🤩👌(90s kid slang haha). When you print it off and run it through your stencil machine, do you need to trace over the lines again with pencil? Or are you just able to print and the stencil machine will automatically detect the pattern to print? (Sorry if this is obvious but still learning about stencil machines 😰🤦🏾‍♂️). Thank you always for these videos mate! Smashing that like button to shut the haters down and show you the support you deserve 🔥🤙💯🔥🤙💯

      No you don’t need the iPad Pro. As long as the iPad is compatible with a Apple Pencil than that iPad should work perfectly with procreate.

    Ok so I'm half way through the video and realizing I would need an iPad for this app which I don't have nor can I afford at the moment. What other ways can I do stencils without hand drawing them? Especially when I don't have a current set up. Meaning I tattoo a lot of friends and in some cases I travel to them. Perhaps other app's ect... Any information you could give me I'd greatly appreciate! Thank you! 🤘🤘

    At the end there you mentioned you would resize for your client. Can you elaborate on that? Do you resize via the app or have to use like a scanner on PC/ Printer? Thanks for all the great advice. I’ve watched this Vid like 10 times. Finally got a tablet and pencil strictly for the procreate app and practice, lemme tell you that thing is not easy. But every day of practice works.

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  4 года назад +4

      I print the image off and then yes I will resize it using a scanner. then when I have the size I want I run it through the stencil machine. Maybe I’ll make a short video about that in the future in case anybody has that question. And yes it takes time to get used to using procreate and work with the layers and what not. But keep practicing with it it will get better!! 👍👍🤘

    How do you resize it to the desired size? Do you just print out dozens of copies until the client finds a size they like or I’m assuming there’s an easier way?

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  4 года назад +3

      Yeah I just print it at whatever size it comes out. Then I up the size or lower the size on the printer until we get the size we want. At that time I will make a stencil out of it. So yes at times I may have to print the piece several times to find the right size. Hope this helps Nicholas.👍🤘🤘👍

      i had an ipad 2 until i just bought a new one and here’s the work around to getting procreate! you have to find somebody with a newer ipad absolutely anybody! then have them “gift” procreate to your icloud account email address this will allow procreate to automatically download but it will be an older version of the app. I have to say it is much better to get a newer one just because of the apple pencil is really what makes this app holy grail. The older ipad won’t have palm rejection ( where it doesn’t sense your hand and still allows you to draw) , how much pressure creates a different line, etc. i got an ipad 8 from target for $299 and apple pencil was $100. i know it’s a lot but it’s one of the cheapest yet newest ones you can get and it’s def worth it. If you’re really tight for cash the method above is feasible and I would suggest using an Adonit stylus as the regular styluses weren’t that great using the program!
