Organic cold pressed coconut oil added to fresh foods such as eggs, pasta, rice, ect is a life changer for birds and feather issues. I believe this vet knows his job. Just keep this vet for a while. Please when you get the medicine for the bird make sure you read it carefully before giving it to the bird
He is a very he is a very good vet. At least he sounds like it. I wish we had one close. There’s none in Wisconsin north east.

I’m in my 62th year in this world but I learned in my 20s how to take care of birds properly. It’s difficult sometimes to find an avian vet. You’re a great bird parent who takes everything into consideration, and I’m sorry for what you’ve been put on the defensive.

This vet is an older man with a lot of experience, and I think that you can trust him. It is, as I already thought, a psychological thing. He also took some blood to be sure that Star is physically all right. I think that the main problem are the strange feathers you gave him, he doesn't feel a conure anymore, and that is the reason why he is plucking. I hope that their own feathers will grow back soon, and then everything is going to be o.k. And because Star is vulnerable on the moment, it is better to seperate them from the big birds.
I don’t think the strange feathers are the problem. Otherwise he would have chewed them all off. He likes them and preens them and cares for them. I think he has a lot of anxiety because of the big birds now.
The imp feathers helped him fly and get away. He has his own choice. Before (when he was clipped) that was worst.

Hi Caroline , please don’t give him the Haldol,that’s a major tranquilizer. They gave Haldol to my Mom for her ocd’s and she had a bad reaction. Not only my mom , but bad reactions from quite a few people. You can use essential oils, or natural products like Bach Flowers to calm him down. I just have a bad feeling, and I love Star and Sunshine.They r so beautiful. I have a friend who works for Doterra Essential oils will ask her for more information.
Natural remedies r the best, not chemicals.
@@rosadibenedetto I think if it was my birds, I would try all the practical measures first that he suggested and not use any medication unless nothing improved over a period of weeks, I think he may be right about it being an emotional/stress response, birds are such complex animals I find 😞
