Hey Carolin, wildllife rehabber here. When they won't eat, i play them their species flock noises or parent noises to stimulate feeding response. You may need to take it to an avian vet for a few crop feeds, mate.
PLEASE keep us up updated 🙏!
I really hope he is doing well xx.
It might just take him a bit to “understand” what you’re doing and giving him. Very different food and environment from what he’s used to. He is very lucky to have you in his corner caring for him.
Good luck Caroline I know it all will work out I have faith in you
Wow the ambience with all the bird sounds in the background is amazing, wish I had this much parrots in the house.
You are such a sweetheart! He may imprint on you, and you'll have to keep him, lol... Crows are very smart, and similar to parrots in many ways. ❤
He looks to be eating ok when you feed him. Try a mash of organic baby fruit puree and mealworms mashed together, and make a foraging tray with worms 🪱, any slow moving bugs and vegetation so he can forage, and try waving food in his face with forceps. A fake 'beak' sometimes helps a lot. All the best!
YES! 💯
Maybe try playing crow calls it helps someone times
Hope the cat food helps!
I am right now feed a baby sparrow the same thing
Carolin read this and feed it to him
Crows are omnivorous birds that eat almost any edible food, including plants and animals. They are not picky eaters and their diet can vary depending on what is available. One study found that crows' diets are 72% plant and 28% animal matter. Some of their favorite foods include:
Plants: Corn, other grains, wild fruits, unsalted peanuts, apple pieces, grapes, and blueberries
Animals: Insects, spiders, snails, fish, snakes, eggs, nestling birds, crabs, crabapples, frogs, carrion, squirrels, beetles, and grasshopper
And worms.
I had an office and there was all kinds of crows around. The had nested in one of the trees than when they grew they were in the brushes below. As I watched them they were feed by their parents in the bushes.
Beautiful
I think you have to feed him with more natural food Carolin. Try worms, and ask the petshop what theyr natural food is. He used to get this from his mum, and that is why he doesn't accept the catfood. He must eat something soon, because otherwise he get weaken, and then he wont fly anymore. Then you have a pet. I wish you good luck, maybe you can bring him to a bird relief centre, we have such centre's in the Netherlands for wildlife. Well, I hope he will fly soon, so he can take care of himself.❤😊
Chat with a wildlife expert to find out what their natural diet would be and try to keep it in line with the seasons. The main thing is to trust your gut instinct
Any update?
That food is not adecuate por crow, he need formula yet, you can buy live tenebrios and live mouse for feeding him, a greeting
Am thinking about how I had to handfeed a bird that was ousted by it's parents... I used that babyfood you used when you just had Love, perhaps a seringue might be usefull in this case?
Maybe you have some leftovers for Love from back in the day? Else make a fine grinded mashup of your bird food, egg and some veggies you have around your house ;)
That’s a worry, I know almost nothing about feeding baby birds, could you ask a vet for suggestions maybe? If it was me (thank goodness it isn’t) my first thought would be to use something like a syringe with very wet food in it, but I am not in any way qualified , just my instinct for things that need feeding 😢
I hope you get him to eat Carolin! If anyone can do, you can! 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️☀️💙
