My dad sacrificed a lot to keep a roof over our heads. He was an immigrant, and was forced to learn the language of the place where he worked, cos the food was from that part of the world. Every time they gave him a reason why he wasn’t cut out for the job, he proved them wrong. He learned the language. He learned the food. He learned the preparation/cooking. I was 16 when I found out my dad spoke a 3rd language. He was 16 when he came to this country, and he was making enough money to pay his rent, buy his workout equipment (think No Retreat No Surrender era of martial arts), and he made enough money to send back home to his family. At 23 he had me. He held down a family, rent, food, and my grandmothers lifestyle, all on his income alone. I was maybe 6-7 years old when I’d watch him workout for 90 mins at a time (while he watched soccer games that were recorded on VHS tapes cos he always worked). This man was the definition of, “I’m not dead yet, and until I am, I won’t stop.” One time, I was angry that my friends had things I didn’t. And I resented him for it. I told him, “one day, I’ll be all you have; and I won’t be there for you.” That still haunts me, to this very day. Dads are important. I know not everyone has them. If you don’t, and you have kids, be the person you needed when you were a kid - to them. Once a man, twice a child. To the man who sacrificed his all, to give us all we have, I love you Dad.
How?? No one is guaranteed success. Sometimes hard work does equal success but take you comfort in the fact you tried. Having a strong family with values and principles is Success. Money can’t buy that!

It's not healthy at all to repress your emotions and to try to be stoic all the time. And I find it hilarious the dumbass implication that no man before now has ever cried for anything. That every man that ever lived before now was just a robot that worked and died without ever showing any emotion whatsoever. People like you disgust me.

Nah. I too think the commenter was referring to Deniro as "the one that cried due to the harsh words."
Then again, I too may be wrong

@keiwinnmitchell3212: I always remind people that the reason that the lights and heat and internet stay on, that the water is safe and indoor plumbing works, and most of the roads are passable late at night in all kinds of weather and on and on is because legions of hardworking blue collar people myself included, make those things happen all around the clock day in and day out weekends and holidays included, year after year.
@@dpeasehead And there's good money in a lot of it, especially if you get a good union.
This movie had a lot of gems
I used to live in NYC. I lived in the Belmont Arthur Ave area of the Bronx. This movie was made in my part of the Bronx.
What movie is this?
Deniro was on top in this role. 💯
It's weird seeing DeNiro as a civilian in a gangster movie
That’s a very patient father to not knock the living dog sh*t out of his boy after saying “and they died with nothing.” This was hurt me ina particular way bc my mom was left in the bathroom floor overdosed with just a couple dollars in her pocket and her wrist bands and a paper. That’s all my mom had on her. She was found a while later…this was a few yrs ago I’m 20 now and I still wish I had my mommy, there’s nothing in this world unlike a mother’s touch or love. Especially if it’s your own mother…. I miss that the most and her goofiness. Damn life Fckn sucks
Why did your mother take drugs if she loved you? Irresponsible.
So your mom DID die with nothing, ahahahaha
@@2mac_mini952 Yours will too one day. But ay, you just a punk, what the f do you know?

Today's generation needs to watch this and listen to Sonny
The working man is the only man that keeps this got damn country running i get up go to work everyday come home exhausted but i can feel good about myself at the end of the day.
Same here bro 🫡
You want this country to keep going? So you advocate for immorality and hedonism?
One of the only movies where DeNiro isn’t a shot caller.
The dark life ain’t worth it and truth be told a working man is never a sucker. It’s the peace and comfort of not having to look over your shoulder that makes it all worth it.
Grandpa always said nothing is as valuable as being able to sleep peacefully
@@estebanrodrigueznido1719absolutely

He’s not wrong about the working man getting bent over backwards for no reward
Powerful clip 💪💪💪💪💪
Both have a point ...
This man was the definition of, “I’m not dead yet, and until I am, I won’t stop.”
One time, I was angry that my friends had things I didn’t. And I resented him for it. I told him, “one day, I’ll be all you have; and I won’t be there for you.”
That still haunts me, to this very day.
Dads are important. I know not everyone has them.
If you don’t, and you have kids, be the person you needed when you were a kid - to them.
Once a man, twice a child.
To the man who sacrificed his all, to give us all we have,
I love you Dad.
If you have love, you have Everything ❤that is important!
Respect to the working Dads who sacrificed everything 💯
he's 100% right. adults dodge the truth they did nothing in their prime years amd try to tell their kids being a nobody is the norm
How?? No one is guaranteed success. Sometimes hard work does equal success but take you comfort in the fact you tried. Having a strong family with values and principles is Success. Money can’t buy that!
so the answer is to become a gangster?
the kid could work hard on a business or his studies, lmao. have you not seen the movie?

The greatest joy in a man's life is to have a child that's proud of him. 💯💔🤦
Dad’s are some of the hardest mfkers out there…don’t undermine what a father will do for his family.
I honestly proud of myself that as a teenager I’ve never said something like this to my parents
I can't wait till one of my kids tries speaking to me like this😂
Being a father is a thankless job and until you are you can never know the burdens we carry for our families. The sacrifices we make to provide. God bless all the fathers that are our putting in the work to provide and protect the ones you love.

Love this film
Hes not a sucker but everyone should deffinetly strive to make something of their own rather than work a puny job for someone with 10 cars and houses
You should have respect for anyone who gets up in the morning and goes to work at an honest job.
Not really he had everything he needed doesn’t take much to be happy
@@slightlySuperior Do you even actually know what a fascist is? You're using words you don't know the meaning to, making yourself look stupid. You should really learn more about history, and probably take some English lessons in your off time.

A son have to understand of how difficult when a father works so hard to provide for the family with food, clothing, and shelter.
Even if I made a billion dollars while my dad is broke I'd never talk to him like this

He was right. The working man is a sucker. If your following the mind set in 2024 that working for someone is and accomplishment with a cap on your salary. Then you will be working till you die. But if your working to put something towards your own goals of financial freedom you are wealthy
