Theres so many mounds along the forked deer in Madison, Crockett , and Laudersale its not even funny. Pinson just gets all the credit. I know of a site off 54 that would blow your minds. Just off the cotton patch and into the bottom :)

They made mounds for many purposes. Long range observations, tracking the stars, and of course, burial mounds. In every case, there are only maybe 5% of mounds still undisturbed as in the 1800's, many were bulldozed and destroyed for the development of infrastructure. The remaining mounds need to be protected and studied. Walking on the mounds will distort and eventually, destroy them. That doesn't mean people shouldn't be around to tour and pounder these ancient structures. An implementation of walking platforms around the mounds where people can go and take in these sites without their presence affecting the structures themselves is what I believe should happen.

Without it , itd be houses or a mall. Its to save it for future generations and is honoring the people that lived here. 🤔

It’s very sad how they turned burial mounds into a park they don’t know anything about the indigenous peoples of Tennessee and it’s so sad

They all had burials, they were cleaned out in the early 20th Century and earlier.
They never even mentioned these in HS or College History, in Tennessee, and History is one of my Degrees.
They have totally altered the facts and destroyed vast artifacts (skeletal remains).
If it doesn't fit their Paradigm, it is discarded, ignored, or accused.
This is changing in the present era.

We would have more about this beautiful culture, if we didn’t do them so wrong. Disgusting.

its the left wing activists who force museums to take artifacts off the displays. The museum near me is almost bankrupt because native american activists from out of state came over and demanded the displays be taken down. Nobody pays admission anymore because theres very little left. No schools are taking field trips there anymore.

The vast percentage of mounds as you think of them, are not burial places/have no mortuary content. Take that in as some useful information.
