I retired last year as a 911 Dispatcher with 27 1/2 years service between State and County. I personally want to thank you for giving the Dispatchers the accolades they deserve. We rarely receive this. Again, thank you. I can only imagine how critical this situation was and people do not understand that we dispatchers job is to make sure our community is safe, and to get our 1st responders home safe after every single shift. We MUST have “Radio Ears” and multi task to the highest degree. Like I said, our priority is to get ALL of our first responders home safe. That includes, but not limited too, OUR OFFICERS, DPS, FIREFIGHTERS, EMS and as you stated sir, ALL of the people behind the scenes that most people do not know about. Jailers being one. I would also like to say thank you for doing all you can to direct your wonderful hard working officers to handle this violent situation. Freedom of Speech is an integral part of our Country as a whole. However, when your citizens are being harmed, things, sometimes, have to be handled differently. The 2 officers that were injured but did not want to leave their brothers and sisters behind, are very commendable. Your city is in a tough situation right now and I’m proud to say I was a part of that for so many years. Not in your city, but, mine. We are all one big family, no matter where you work in America. I retired last year as a 911 Dispatcher with 27 1/2 years service between State and County. I personally want to thank you for giving the Dispatchers the accolades they deserve. We rarely receive this. Again, thank you. I can only imagine how critical this situation was and people do not understand that we dispatchers job is to make sure our community is safe, and to get our 1st responders home safe after every single shift. We MUST have “Radio Ears” and multi task to the highest degree. Like I said, our priority is to get ALL of our first responders home safe. That includes, but not limited too, OUR OFFICERS, DPS, FIREFIGHTERS, EMS and as you stated sir, ALL of the people behind the scenes that most people do not know about. Jailers being one. I would also like to say thank you for doing all you can to direct your wonderful hard working officers to handle this violent situation. Freedom of Speech is an integral part of our Country as a whole. However, when your citizens are being harmed, things, sometimes, have to be handled differently. The 2 officers that were injured but did not want to leave their brothers and sisters behind, are very commendable. Your city is in a tough situation right now and I’m proud to say I was a part of that for so many years. Not in your city, but, mine. We are all one big family, no matter where you work in America. Thank you to the reporters that reported properly. I love the pride you show of your Department deeply in your face and eyes. God Bless you all. Chicago will be much safer under your watch Sir.
