I landed a 48" Grass Carp 2 weeks ago at a local pond on one of my Cicadas. I did not go out to catch anything this big and was out with my 4wt. The Carp weighed in at 47.76lbs.
I started fly fishing after coming across this channel and I am eternally grateful for that! I don't think I'll go back to fishing with a spinning rod unless I'm fishing super deep out in the ocean. Also managed to catch my first fish on camera which has added to the channel for me to look back in in years to come. Thank you Brian!
I'm SO jealous. I've had precisely one carp take on the surface in my life. Oddly it was a cicada type pattern in a non cicada year :-) The carp must have had a fond memory of meals past. Nicely done Brian. Wonderful video.
Wish we still had cicadas in my area. Hands down the best experience catching carp on dry flies. Hooked into my PB and ended up breaking my 7wt. Now I just us a 9wt for carp
The video production is really good. Brian's knowledge and teaching style are great and the humor tops the cake. Move over Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston, and Roland Martin... Brian may let others run the company and have a whole new career as a youtube star.
Wow what a great day on the water,, burn that one into memory. Striper fishing in the Cape Cod canal was a little slow by comparison. Like the tee-shirts I think k I am going to add one on in the next order I need a lucky tee-shirt for the rest of the summer. Wish the fluke in the Nantucket sound would take a fly but at 60 - 80 feet I would need a serious sinking line 🤣. I am looking forward to seeing the great Jeff Daniel's star in the next great fly fishing movie "the Butter Melts Through It!"
Fun times sir. A while ago I watched your old series on fly fishing for carp. I am still getting started and learning but I had a pretty fun day last week catching carp at Muzzy on berries. Bass, too. But its hard not to catch bass there lol. I will upload the video to my RUclips if you're interested. Next goal out there is a grass carp on the fly but I need some more skill for that lol
When talk started about the coming emergence of the cicadas, I wondered how the fly fishing would be. Now I know and am not surprised. We don't have cicadas here in the northwest and would have liked fishing them. At least I got to see the solar eclipse two years ago.
Do "LIKE BUTTER" T's help with casting technique and prevent wind knots? Lol What a great video, really enjoyed it. So, how long of a 0x leader did u make? I'm new to fly fishing and simply in love with it.
Does anyone have information on the handle on his nautilus ..is it aftermarket or option from factory I have a x series xl and was interested in that handle. ?🙏🐟🎣🪶
Can you believe this video has 6 thumbs down!?!?! Why is there even a dislike button on youtube? Never have I once saw a thumbnail I like and decided not to watch the video because someone else disliked it... never! Such a waste, only thing its good for is giving trolls a tool to make themselves feel better.
Well.....at least we are doing them some good. Trolls need to feel good too! They are an unfortunate part of our business....but like you, we don't pay much attention at all. Thanks for watching.

Wow....that's a feat! Thanks for sharing.
Thats a massive fish. Well done!
Best line ever: “tying on a new tippet is always good, it’s like (subtle pause) sushi.”

Thanks for watching. Spinning rods are cool though....we don't discriminate.
@@Madriveroutfitters yeah, same boat there!
There is absolutely nothing more exciting than carp feeding on the surface!
We'd have to agree with that!
Man I'm so happy Brian isn't going to fire Brian.
We are too! Thanks for watching.
Bass fishing on a fly rod is one of my favorite things to do!
Ours too! Thanks for watching.
Enjoyed the brief but funny David Attenborough impression...and oh yea, killer carp fishing on the ugly bugs...
Thanks for watching!

No periodical Cicidas in Colorado 😟. Next brood I'm driving the family out there! That Mirror Brian caught in the last video was a beautiful specimen.
Thanks for being here.

Take me with you!
Call the shop and get a trip booked?
Where are some of your favorite places around Columbus for carp?
You'd have to check with the shop directly with that question. Give them a call or send them an e-mail and they will be happy to help. Thanks.
Do you ever use poly leaders for bass fishing? I’m thinking of giving them a try but don’t have any experience with them.
Check the previous "Cicada Mania" video. You can also call the shop and chat....they have experience.
Do "LIKE BUTTER" T's help with casting technique and prevent wind knots? Lol
What a great video, really enjoyed it. So, how long of a 0x leader did u make? I'm new to fly fishing and simply in love with it.
If worn correctly.....yes. Feel free to contact Brian at the shop with your questions. He can be reached via e-mail or telephone. Thanks.
Great video! Could you please tell me what rod and fly line Brian was using? Thanks.
You'd have to check with him on that. Call him or e-mail him and he'll be happy to answer. Thanks.
Carp ? 1 never thinks dry flies 🤯 amazing, noticed the knob on your reel what is it ? I like the size of it & looks cool tight lines & bent rods 🤙🤘
Thanks for watching. Here you go:

What weight rod is Brian using?
Sorry but you'll have to check with him on that. You can call him or e-mail him at the shop and he'll be happy to fill you in.
What rod are you using?
You'd have to check with Brian directly on that. He can be reached via phone or e-mail at the shop. Thanks.

You could try contacting him? admin@madriveroutfitters.com or 614-451-0363. He'll be happy to help.
Is that handle on your fly reel a small or large?
You'd have to check with Brian at the shop. Not sure.
Change your frock... the dude kills me. 😂😅
Thanks for watching.
The guide doing documentary voice………..bahahaha
A second career for Josh?
Hoping there are still cicadas for my 7/1 trip with Josh. If not, I hope the fish remember how well they taste. 👅
You'll be fine. A day with Josh is always fun.
@@Madriveroutfitters He says the Cicadas are done but he's taking me Pike fishing which sounds like fun!

That's a Green Sunfish not a Warmouth.
Yes, he corrects that at the end of the video. Thanks for looking out though.
I cut it right before haha.
If Brian got fired it would leave more time to fish.🤔
But no money to buy flies.....
