- In this episode we head over to the Eastern Sierra to take on a route that we turned back on 4 years ago, the East Ridge of Mount Russell. I was lucky enough to have perfect weather and sent the Ridge without any problems. It’s super airy and exposed but the moves are mostly 1st and 2nd class. Make sure to watch the full video as the trail running at the end was one of the funnest parts! Thanks for tuning in and don’t forget to subscribe to the channel!

Gotta love Russell, a fun 14er for sure. 2× for me and probably a few more since planning on doing a few more routes up to that summit.
Excellent Video Dude!!! This video is a going to be a great resource for my upcoming Russell attempt. Great job! Great footage! Nice Work Man! Thank you for posting this phenomenal write up!!
Right on! I got lucky with good conditions and had a great day! Thanks!
Really nice video. One of the best I’ve seen on Russell. Amazing that you did in such short time, congratulations
Thank you John, I really appreciate that!
DUDE!!!!!!!! YOU’RE ON A WHOLE OTHER PLANE!!!! I WAS HAVING MY HEART POUNDING IN MY THROAT AND COLD SWEATS!!! MEGAWATTS CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ON ANOTHER FANFREAKINTASTIC EPIC ADVENTURE 😍💪🏆🎸🎊🎉!!!
Thanks Jennifer, always good to see you in the mountains!
Love watching your adventures Chris. I'm impressed that you do all of this while holding a GoPro stick. Great balance.
Thats great work.
Thanl yoh for sharing.
Amazing dude, those views are stunning!! Love your vibe, high energy and enthusiasm for the outdoors. Good to see the leave no trace bit at 0:42.
Keep an eye out on my channel over the course of September for my week-long trip into and up the Scottish mountains, hope you will drop in and join us on the adventure. All the best Chris.
Any comparisons with mount williamson? I’ve sent Williamson first T, heard this one is more sketchy, though. Sick vid
Technically Russell isn’t harder than that last chimney on Willy, but it’s way more airy and exposed. Thanks Man! 🙏🏼
@@mountainhighadventuresyo dude, I’m headed out to give her a shot next week! Any reason you decided to downclimb easy ridge instead of the other route?
@@ObscureOdysseys hey, I went up and down the East ridge because it’s the classic scrambling route. There are many other routes up and down that mountain.
Bro... those views are incredible. I love those lakes in the high mountains. That looks like a fun hike!! Awesome video 👍👊
Backpacking With Jason thanks Jason! I got lucky with the weather, it was an awesome day in the alpine!
You're a beast bro.. I'm looking to do Russel then Whitney and Muir in one day maybe next week if I get a permit
That would be an awesome link-up!

Planning on going up east ridge next weekend - is the trail well marked from bottom? i've heard folks losing the trails below boy scout trail?
Hey man, the trail is not well marked. No signage. The E Ledges are a bit tricky, and getting to upper Boy Scout Lake can be tough too. Do lots of research and follow a gps track. 👍🏼
@@mountainhighadventures thanks man! Yeah - have downloaded alltrails maps on the phone so hopefully that will help us stay on track. Been watching all the videos on the trips but there are no tips on the trail marking and ledges part. Most focus on the knife edge
4:45 to the summit of Mount Russell? And to think that I thought my time of 5:56 to the summit of Whitney was actually decent!
You scare me. But I enjoy your videos! 🤣
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Nice one man!!
Thank you!
Amazing footy Dude. I have 1 failed attempt on Mount Russell. Hoping to go back soon. Question, overall how sketchy was it? I’ve done a few class 3 routes with exposure but nothing like east ridge. Any beta would be much appreciated.
Deadringer thanks Man! The beta is pretty straight forward once you get to the East Ridge. When it gets too thin there’s usually a work around on the right (North) side of the ridge. It depends on your level of comfort really, I didn’t think there were any hard moves, barely even 3rd class, but the exposure is huge! It’s mostly mental, as long as the wind isn’t howling.
Christopher Gorney Thanks so much Dude! Found your IG. Following ya.
