    You have delivered great reggae content in the past and sure you will in the future.
    I noticed that your bass playing is really good in all your videos. Reggae bass might be simple, but to get the feeling right is not easy at all. Many musicians underestimate reggae but they can't play it with the right feel.

    I didn't have a clue about your experience and journey, but now I understand why you are so interesting and precise Don, and I consider ourselves very lucky to receive your insights...
    We will never meet the masters of the past, because they (almost) all passed, but we have a connection with them thanks to your experience .

      Thank you for making the exception.Your observation is spot on. The masters are slowly leaving us and there are so many names that never get a mention. If I can inspire 1 person to go back and listen to the greatness from yesteryear or pick up an instrument and start a reggae band. then my job is done.

    Yes Sir nice insight into you pedigree we have a couple of things in common in that I grew up with Astro and was a founder member of the first band thst Pato was in . ( good friends) I watched all videos and even tho I know and play most of what you shared I have still learned something from watching your videos.. so I thank you for inspiring others to dig deeper into a genre of music that I love just as you also do., Big up mi Breadwin

    I just bought a cheap 5 string fretless!! (I just realized I've been using this 4 string for over 30 years - the only bass I've ever owned - man I haven't even had to change the strings! )

    glad to see you back. i can't believe anyone would say you don't need to understand theory to play reggae. it's a great goal as a musician to be able to read a chord chart and rip after listening one time.

      It has been mentioned a few times in my comments. " the great players just played by feel". That's fine but if you get called today for a gig happening tonight and you have never rehearsed with the band or not heard the music, great feel will not get you very far.

      @@donstrumental8905 for real. we are probably the same age. in high school jazz band all the horns had proper sheet music. i was given "the real book" and told to keep up. i will never forget the feeling of hot sweats and panic. i played with THAT feel for a while.

    Really good insight into your career up to now Don , I’ve been following you for a long time as you know, for me you are one of the reggae greats of bass players ,and I can see you going on to many more years of amazing playing
    If I was met by Duckie Simpson at the airport I’d have to pinch myself that I wasn’t dreaming 😁, black Uhuru are my all time favourite band

      Thank You. Duckie Simpson doesn't smile and wears those dark glasses so it was a bit menacing when I first met him. Away from the persona, he was one of the nicest and fairest people to work with.

    Interesting to hear your path in reggae.. and also that you play with Drumtan Ward.. for my money one of the best reggae drummers around.. thats a formidable rhythm section right there

      Drumtan was the first REAL reggae drummer I played with and he was already a veteran in the game when I met him. I learned a heap from his experience.

    The chance is big that I was at the SummerJam you mentioned. It was and still is a great festival. Reggae is the music of my live and the bass lines are the reason for that. Greetings and blessings to you from good old Germany!

    You ever play Dub Club at Echoplex in L.A.? I used to be foh there and got to mix with Scientist a bunch of times; several of the bands you were with came thru.
    Those shows inspired me to learn bass and reggae in particular. Got good drum tips from Squidly, but YOU are my guide into reggae bass and I can’t thank you enough.

      I never got to play Dub Club, probably because the majority of times I played in the U.S I was with Ali Campbell’s UB40 therefore we were on a totally different circuit.

      In 2016 I was playing in Carona California with UB40, I had no idea the headquarters of Fender were there. I was invited to the headquarters and blessed with the bass you see me playing. It’s the Elite series, Active and stock everything.

    13:27 Anyone who says music theory has no place in Reggae Music is pretty much insulting all the great Reggae musicians (bass and otherwise). I'm not fluent in theory but what I do know has aided me tremendously in all the genres I play, including Reggae.

    Hi Don. On the Scientist tutorial, you mentioned the Bass Pod XT live. I’m trying to find a multi effect pedal and the Pod XT live looks like a great option. What’s your take on the Zoom B1X Four as a multi effect pedal? I’m trying to find a bass pedal to add different sounds to my bass. Or what’s the difference between the two?

      It really depends on the sound you are looking for. I specifically went for the Bass Pod XT Live because of the 4 pedal options. I knew the sound I intended to create so it was just a case of figuring out how to create the sound. I also always keep a clean patch.

      ​@donstrumental8905 Seen ! I had no idea Chris Meredith was no longer w us, I met him in LA, he'd be on tour w Ziggy or be recording and we'd go around the music and electronics stores. Sad.

      @@ngolinyirenda6421I had sent him a message to confirm some of the bass lines he had played so that I could make a video. I never got a response. A couple of weeks later I got the news he had passed from a heart attack. Very sad indeed.
