    Hello, do you siphon your gravel? Thanks :)

    • @ShrimpMania
      @ShrimpMania  2 года назад +1

      Hey, no I don't siphon my gravel because I only have a thin layer. I move the soil sometime from the back to the front of the tank and if any mock end up in the tank normally filtering with the sponge filter

  • @shinucafe
    @shinucafe 2 года назад

    Is there a way to instant cycle a shrimp tank using a established sponge from a cycled aquarium? Like using the filter media inside of dat sponge filter which makes the water cloudy

    • @ShrimpMania
      @ShrimpMania  2 года назад +1

      Yes of cause you can use filter from establish tank to seed some beneficial bacteria it can speed up your cycle. I just prefer to do it naturally

  • @edspicknupcichlids7506

    So when you mix your shrimps do they cross breed and come out with different colors and not breed true?

    • @ShrimpMania
      @ShrimpMania  2 года назад

      Yes they come out with different colors, when they breed they again through out some different colors and patens which is is quite cool. I don't really mind them to do so. It's always exciting to see what babies they'll make. I don't normally sell my shrimps I just give them away so I don't mind them to be not pure lines

  • @superjaz1810

    I have exactly the same algae in my tank which has almost finished its cycle. It's mainly covering my moss and It looks like fluff/fur but it is hair algae. If you wave a wooden skewer near it, you can break some of it loose from your moss and then start wrapping it around your skewer like candy floss 😉

    Great video my friend, My thoughts on the tank with the algae is the lighting. I have two tanks sharing a long light over the two. One get’s a ton of algae and the other is fine. I blocked the light with a rag with the algae. It seemed to help. Might want to try to cut the light back. Just a thought to try.

    • @ShrimpMania
      @ShrimpMania  2 года назад +1

      Hey Steve, I agree the light maybe an issue and 12hours/day a bit too much. Thank you for the tip!

    • @SteveHinrichs
      @SteveHinrichs 2 года назад

      @@ShrimpMania they way I have solved mine other than a rag. I put black tape over the LED lights blocking some of the light. This way I did not have to change my timer on the other lights. Putting taped over 40% - 50% of the light right on the lens helped a lot. Just something to try.

    • @ShrimpMania
      @ShrimpMania  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the tip. My lights are on dimmer so I don't need to use tape😉

    The planaria at 8:22 🤮🤮

    • @ShrimpMania
      @ShrimpMania  2 года назад +2

      It’s not a planaria😂 it’s detritus worm and this worm is good sign of well established shrimp tank. You wont find it in a fish tank because your fish eat them.

    • @ShrimpMania
      @ShrimpMania  2 года назад +1

      What is plenum tank?

    • @Ttblondey
      @Ttblondey 2 года назад

      Plenum is what you use a UGF and add substrate on top of it. Just like what Dr Kevin Novak implement in his RUclips channel. It's an Anoxic filtration. Sorry I thought it was you who made the Plenum for shrimp keeping. Can't remember who made one.
