- Super easy and fun to make! Perfect for anyone in the family! This is a great first project if you are just learning to crochet.
I am dedicating this project to the Grade 7 "Fashion and Design Class" that I will help to learn how to crochet.
To the next generation of crocheters!
Written Instructions:
1 Skein - Any Yarn-150 Metres or more,
Main colour of Hat
(I am using Bernat Premium, Medium #4)
1 Skein - Any Yarn - Pom Pom
1 Crochet Hook - 5 mm (6 mm if using a chunky yarn)
Darning Needle
Scissors
Measuring Tape
Abbreviations:
Ch = Chain
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
St = Stitch
Ss = Slip Stitch
Instructions:
Chain 12”-14” or 30-36 cm (or longer for a slouchy hat)
Row 1 - Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, Hdc in each ch across.
- Ch 1 and turn
Row 2 - Working in back loops only, Hdc in first st, and in each st all the way across. Ch 1, turn.
(Be very careful not to miss the last stitch, and that you have the same amount in every row).
Repeat Row 2 until you have reached approximately 17”-20” or 44-50 cm
(Or until it fits around your head).
Stop at an EVEN amount of rows.
Fold in half
Insert hook into Hdc then into ch space, Ss into each stitch across.
Leave about 20” or 50 cm. Cut yarn and pull through.
With Darning Needle, weave in and out to gather top of hat. Pull snug and tie to beginning yarn. Leave this tail of yarn to tie Pom Pom to.
Make Pom Pom, Attach to hat.
To add trim, just put one row of Single Crochet around the edge. 😃 Хобби
Best I’ve seen. No annoying music. Calm voice. Excellent.
Such a good tutorial. I can actually see your stitches and exactly what you’re doing. So many videos they crochet too fast. Super helpful thank u!
Thank you for being so patient, love the calmness in your voice. I am a senior citizen and have been learning how to crochet, so far so good.
I was looking for a nice hat to crochet in my free time that I could crochet for the homeless. Thank you so much for the video with the instructions! Your generous sharing will bless the lives of others!
🙏🏼 Thank you
Lovely! Thank you so much!
What I most appreciate is no annoying background music.
It’s sunday afternoon with our first snowstorm, so crotchet hats it is😊
I have watched many videos to see which teaching style was best for me to learn from, I found your video was the easiest. You gave me what I was looking for step by step tutorial. Thank you.
You have a lovely clear voice. As a teacher I think you would read children's stories beautifully with your crisp pronunciation of all consonsonants.
Wow, thank you! That is a lovely compliment 😊
Very true 💯 %👍😍😍😍
You’re such a great person like a kindergarten teacher 👩🏻🏫 who explains everything in detail and clearly. Love 💕 you so much, thanks 🙏 a lot 😍🍫🍫🍫. You should create a story telling channel you’re simply awesome 😎 and amazing 💐💐💐
Wow, thank you!
Succesfully made my first hat from this video! Thank you for your excellent pacing and close ups, the chapter splits also helped when I needed to refer back
I am glad it was helpful 😊
AWESOME. Thanks for keeping it as simple as possible. 👍👍👍
Awe, I loved the one with the trim. How adorable.

TY for this Video Soo easy to follow !!!
Exactly
Thank you sooooo much for putting the pattern in the description! It’s incredibly helpful!!
Thanks to your video, I finished my "first" ribbed beanie today. I was pleased with it for being the 1st, but I can tell where my flaws are, and this hat will be my teaching tool. It's not as stretchable as I expected so I'll have to loosen up on my stitches. I had to replay the area where you do the slip stitch to connect the sides, and while my ends didn't match exactly, I was able to use the end that wasn't perfect to make the crown of the beanie. My husband was so proud for me when I showed him my finished product, but it will only be a model for future beanies. So for 2 days, I have been glued to different areas of your video, jumping back over and over again. While I've found some interesting patterns online, multi-colored and such, I'm going to stick to single colors for now. Thank you again for helping me learn more and more about crocheting that I never imagined when I was a little girl. Kathy
I am glad it is working. Thank you.
I like your way of teaching, very easy to learn , straight to the point you don't waist people 's time explaining non sense stuff. I recommended my friends to watch your videos 👍
I love the fact that this tutorial mentions that you can ose any size of yarn or crochet hook.
this was my first crochet project and it turned out amazing,i’m here for a second hat!!❤️
That is great😊
Nice job
I started the beanie using your Video Tutorial from my phone, it is great, but now that I have access to my computer, I discovered you have written instructions! This is just the best! THANK YOU, Stephanie!
I love how detailed your instruction is thank you😊
I can confirm this is ideal for beginners. I learnt to Crochet 2 months ago and I have managed to make the hat for myself. My daughter liked it so much, she wants me to Crochet her one.
Fabulous!!!
I have been crocheting for 7 years and I cant make good hats :( I do make intricate baby blankets and Granny square blankets :) so Im going to try this tutorial :)
This is my first finished and large/medium project and I'm really proud of myself, thank you for being so straightforward.

Beautiful hat the best instructions ever! Thank you so much!
I got started along w/your video.I have a problem crocheting an even line. The pattern is perfect for me and I love it! Thank You!
Thank you for your easy to follow tutorial! Thank you also for including inch measurements. I will definitely try this one!
Just finished this had for my grandson. Worked out well. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Why are these videos better at explaining on how to do a stitch than a video that’s meant to teach you that particular type of stitch?
Because Stephanie is an excellent teacher, her camera work and pace are perfect for learning something. The best!
Everybody's not a teacher
I love the crochet .Everything looks perfect .
Thank you! 😊
I love the hat, nice clear, concise instructions. I can’t wait to make a few.
I can make hats on a loom, but I started crocheting so I’m planning on making this, so excited to try this!
Thank you,for the good instructions, love your voice
I have managed to get it right..... so far so good. I am on row 7 ! 💖

You are so welcome!😊
Great video! Easy and clear to follow along! Thank you 😀😁❤️🌈
Great idea for the cold weather hobby people. Got some pure wool in bottle green which will be useful. Thank you very much.
Thanks for showing us. Its much neater to crochet the side rather than sewing up the side. Looks so easy .and perfect. I hope I can do this I ,can do other stuff relating to pins and wool, but not crochet. Thsnks again!!💞 👍.
Love this video. I will use this pattern to make a regular hat and also to make a cat ear hat
This is the best explanation of simple crochet. It's great! No hate toward other tutorials but this was just so clear, well lit and to the point
I tried making several beanies from you tube videos and ended up just pulling them apart and starting over. I just completed this beanie after a couple hours and must say, I love it! I like the way you gave the length of the chain in inches rather than chains, my hat fits perfectly, I made it a slouch hat, thank you for such a simple way to create the beanie! 😊
That is awesome!
Thank you! Finished my first one. It was practice but turned out nice enough that I'll wear it. I hope to have a few done by Christmas. Great video!

Excellent video. I'm a true beginner. Started knitting and crocheting a couple of months while recuperating from salmonella poisoning which went sepsis. I have watched many knitting/crocheting videos and have found yours to be the easy, most fluid to follow. Thanks for taking the time to provide these videos for a retiree who still is conquering new endeavors.

I think you will love it. I hope you get “hooked”😃
@@StephanieZed h
It was my first project too!
how did it go?
@@BlueePanties Good! I finished it awhile ago ago, I made it a little too small but its still wearable and its soooo warm! I used a pretty think yarn and I think it gave it kind of a chunky look so I'm trying again with a thinner yarn and I'm liking the neater look the thin yarn gives it!
i am almost done with my hat that i started yesterday! this pattern was easy to follow, thank you for making it! :)
just have to make and add the pompom
That’s great!!
