Vince, 1) I love storytime, dont ever stop it if you have the opportunity to do it! 2) Lorewise I now believe Zenestra is the reason 'Pushed into Battle' was removed from the Skaven as even the Rats aren't as crazy as she is based on your summaries. 😉
As a destruction enjoyer I hope Kragnos gets either sacrificed to Khorne or evolved into Kurnos

Not sure if is source of idea but Dark harvest definitely shows the second could be possible, although evolved is rather too gentle to describe Allarielle's process
Out of curiosity, is Kragnos really unpopular? I was just listening to Garagehammer's summary of the book and one of the hosts seemed to _really_ dislike him, and that along with this post just made me wonder what the general perception of Kragnos is.
Never been a fan either honestly. Model is cool but he just doesn’t fit in with any of them. Deff not gitz, not IJ, not really kruleboyz. I guess if you did some conversion work to make icicles on his horns and make the model look winter themed he could fit with BCR but that’s kinda it in my view
@@sterlingwynn3190 not sure, to me he never really fit destruction, which I don't think helped. While he had potential to be an interesting character from back story he never realised that potential. He even falls short on the love to hate scale, he just is ....

Personally I hope they keep and update the Bonespitterz side of Warclans. They’ve shown through the Underworlds warband that they can design cool savage orcs and bonesplitterz add a primal element to GA Destruction that is sorely needed.
I love savage orcs, have a large colletion of old 90s metals, but it feels kind of inevitable that AOS will move on from bonesplitterz now. If they hadn't added the new kits to the Ironjawz I might have seen a refresh of the bonesplitterz possible, but I think it's more likely they add a few kits to the kruleboyz - in particular a mounted unit (maybe dual kit) and something akin to the wurgog prophet, an 'elite'(ish) combat unit wouldn't go amiss either.
One thing I would have liked for you to mention about the Blacktalons is how the unit and their associated Regiment of Renown could work in IDK. When the Warscroll became free to download on Warhammer Community, there was a Regiment of Renown for the Blacktalons that gave them a 6+ Ward when allied into another Order army. It's not a massive bonus, but it's a decent one.
Although I wanted to call out IDK specifically because of Lorai. On her Warscroll, she has the IONRACH keyword. Which means she can use the Heroic Action the Ionrach Subfaction grants, letting you pick a unit to run and charge or retreat and charge as if affected by their associated effect in the Tides of Death table. I think that's some kinda interesting tech personally. Plus, you can still do Isharann Rituals with her if you dont have any other Isharann units in your list for whatever reason. You still get Neave and the Blacktalons, but Lorai gets to have a much more impatful role if you ally them into her army, instead of bringing her into an SCE army.
I'm not an IDK player so maybe these interactions aren't as good as I think, but I think it was at least worth a mention in the video.
I hope old world does so well it becomes a mainline cycle game so the cycle can go to 4 years. 40k and AoS would really benefit from a 4 year cycle.

I absolutely 💯 love " story time with vince" you need to do like a test show where Vince reads a full AoS novel and summarize in like 20 minutes with all the sound effects he makes and sarcasm. The fact you, Vince, have much more recently got completely onboard to Ironjawz with so much history in wargames and in AoS specifically gives me a lot of hope I'll find my army as a hobby magpie.

I would watch a Statler and Waldorf style show where Vince and Doug (2+ Tough) go through AoS lore.
I'm in UK and via the stormbringer subscription, have been building out an entire Kruleboyz army, stormcast eternals and in the process of building gloomspite gitz by doubling (occasionally quadrupling) up on key issues, lots of bang for your buck if you're strategic!
I really wish the Vulkyn Flameseekers had either the droth taxi or the 5+ ward ability on their warscroll. That would have made the unit so much more interesting in normal FS armies.
The Ogor AoR is soooo bad. Feels like a throwaway thing from a White Dwarf in early 2016.
The most underrated AoS fiction is the novella The Red Hours by Even Dicken

To answer a question about Vandus’ Dracoth mount still being alive. When Stardrakes & Dracoths die they bolt up back to Azyr to be reborn again. That’s what inspired Sigmar & Grungni to make Stormcast Eternals in the first place.
(To a lesser degree also happens with Seraphon. When killed and a Slann has a good enough memory of them they can be reborn as a Starborne again that way, though features may change over time as the Slann slowly forgets details. It’s the running theme with Azyr beings that they’re immortal but the void slowly fills them to replace what’s lost with each resurrection)
Loved the rib cage lore and we get to see the Green Torc again! That was awesome stuff back in the 2016 Godbeast campaign when Archaon was trying to use that floating continent as a collar for Behemat to try and enslave him.
Last bit is on the Deepkin, from others I’m hearing from(my book is still in delivery) Neave also has them acting as Vanguards for the Aqshy crusade to scout ahead(and get first dibs on souls).
Also cool the Ghyran marshal is also a jade magic user. Reminds me of the 2019 Realmscape rules which had those Realm Commands which included commanders being able to use Ghyran Thorn Shield spell even if they weren’t a wizard because of how innately overrun with cascading life magic the Realm is.
Vince story time is the best of times
I just started a similar hallowed knights type scheme to Tyler and found a good tip for speed painting them is to do them all silver first and then paint the trim with skeleton horde contrast and it makes a nice old gold that is a lot quicker as you don’t have to be as neat

Great show as always. I can't wait for my dawnbringers box sets of the stormcast & sylveneth sets this weekend. I'm still painting through my cites stuff, then its some of their new stuff also. The big one is yet to come through the new FEC & sun king will be an awesome release, I hope, lol. I dont get to play much as it's tough to convert some 40k & historical players at my club. I keep trying, though, and it doesn't stop me collecting & painting my favourite setting & game. Weekly content from you guys & other Aos content creaters keeps me in the loop & hype of this awesome game.

i think the real test would be to see how much this new slayer AOR stands up to armies that do not have any monsters of any kind.
Between the troop transport, +5 ward saves and 2+ ward shut down abilities.......it....could be possible? Perhaps.....

Pretty simple to address Starborn I think. Change 2 main things.
1.Make cleanse the realms cost 20 CPP
2. Change Celestial Resonance to once per turn.
That'll do it. Doesn't break the army, just reins them in. No crazy 6 CPP from 1 unit per turn. And the big bomb will only really be realistically used once in a perfect situation. Still usable and available, but much more situational.
34:13 i still go back to Vinces video on bases (for skaven sewers) just to brush up on how to make simple but striking bases using cheap and easy materials! 😊

Definitely! Once I have some semblance of a plan + materials, the next plan is to assemble and test on some Liberators. These plans will be followed by additional plans, which will be further adjusted by future plans.
Maneaters are not gutbusters sadly. Love the roving maw.
Since 3rd I've low-key been hording some stormcast and am half wayish through the stormbringer subscription (uk) and the Blacktalons animation made me pull the trigger. Maybe it's because it's an AOS thing but IMO the best thing on warhammer+.
As a ogor and orruk Warclans player, boy do I feel lucky and not let down at all to have these army of renown....

My friend got the Stormbringer magazine and enjoyed it, although him and his wife had a baby during that time period so theyve not painted any of it. One issue came with a nice mug that i jealously eye up when he uses it at work.

For me the Blacktalon are meant for Warcry, their rules and abilities in that game are truly something special. Even the whole idea of what they’re about fits so much better in the skirmish style game of Warcry.
I am just going to use the new model to represent Neave herself in games and the old model to represent the generic Knight Zephyros
Can Ionus use Translocate? I thought you can’t take anything out of the Stormcast book.
He can’t take it if you’re using the Draconith Skywing AoR, but he can if you’re playing regular Stormcast.
We're talking about using him in a normal SCE army, not the AoR. :)

Likely a Morathi high oracle situation who kept Khaine’s heart a secret and said as high oracle only she could talk to him(thus absorbing all the power of worship that would’ve gone to him and now keeps him dead as she takes it all, especially as a goddess)
Gob is the only one who can translate for Kragnos and the rest of the Kruleboyz and a good portion of Ironjawz truly do worship him(to where Soulbound notes now when Ironjawz do drum beats it syncs up with Kragnos’ heartbeats, before that was only Kruleboyz)
If Gob can destroy his physical form and become the defacto channeler of Kragnos’ immaterial form(basically kept as a rampaging spirit) then he’d have entire Waaaghs of orruks eating out of his hands as what Morathi was to Khaine.
Despite look at ogres had to grab Belthanos, stunning model. Guess I am painting 2 armies. Appreciate the lore, although the side bits are often so much more intriguing than the main story. The side stories going up on warhammer community are interesting, more hits of kurnothi there and Belthanos transforming humans into kurnothi if I read it right. Stuff in dark harvest on how Allariele created Kurnoth in the mortal world shows some real dark story potential

I'm here with you on Blacktalons, Vince. There's some play with Neave for sure, but I just can't see the whole package for 340. 3 Annihilators with GH + Imperitant is 340, and I think they will get the Neaves job done better than Neave and her crew every day of the week. It feels like they lack something.. specifically the ability to take Neave on her own for 110-120 points tops.

I think some of the best stories from AoS have been in the more recent novels they've released. Godsbane provides a compelling story about the mortals in the Realms, and without giving too much away, their beef with the God's in general.

When the Fyreslayers burn the IDK mist away with their rune...do the flying eels and sharks and turtles just drop unceremoniously out of the sky? Flopping on the ground like...well...beached fish?
And a lot of people say their like CoS because of the idea of 'A mortal man with nothing but a shield and sword facing down the horrors of the realms!' and then you hear this story and...no...the mortal man with a sword and shield just dies uselessly, gets dragged along by a bunch of stupid cultists undermining any chance of success and flees across the realms being rescued by the actual competent people again and again. Cool. Let's undercut that player fantasy at every turn.
No, it's just the mist itself, not the aethersea, so things still float, but it was mostly Namarti attacking. Totally agree to your second point, normal humans, even well armed ones, just end up dying to the monsters.
Two of the AoR are almost completely from Warcry.
Now the important question is: Does Belthanos count as a „Kurnoth Hunters unit of up to 3 models“?
He has the „Kurnoth Hunters“ keyword, he‘s a single model, RAW you can summon him via Alarielle.

I enjoyed 40k magazine subscription. It is about done in couple of months. The value is great for what you get if you are into both factions.
Alas _for me_, AoS one has Kruelboyz. And I have negative amount of interest in them. So it drags value waaaaay down. Still on a fence about it.

Why in the world do orcs need to be combined ? Gives them each their own book for the love of Gork and Mork. Enough of this racism.
After what happened to 40k I think they're seriously trying to limit battletome bloat. It will help in the long run, but I do agree that Big Waaagh is an aesthetic mismatch that should not be encouraged as the standard way to play the book.
I'm not excited about it, I am IJ for life, but I think it's going to happen.

Do y'all think we are getting Kragnos' race as a fifth destruction army in the futur? So Kragnos would be their big center piece without retiring him, and the orruks and gitz would go back being about Gorkamorka instead of him?

I can't help but feel that all these asides could and should have been told in the battletomes and that these campaign books should focus on telling the main story and making it good. It sounds at this point like they're trying to do too many things at once.
I wonder if GW has a special tax for SCE. Ionus is a good model and 400 is maybe too much if their estimate for Belthanos is 360
As for the Blacktalons, 340 might be too much. 300 would be a sweet spot for them

Slayers getting done over again. Finally get a new unit. But it is terrible in the main book, ok in the aor but the aor is generally bad unless playing a monster heavy list.

Not through the whole video yet but I’ll say that after Story Time started I have totally stopped watching The Kardashians, this is my favorite reality show now.
I am hoping they learned from the rank and file games that have come out since then. Hail Caesar, Conquest, and other games have made the format much more enjoyable and less tedious. Making this effectively WHFB 9 will be, frankly, disappointing.

Im going out on a limb here and saying the Ogres update in this book was practically a complete bust. The gorgers are a cool unit aesthetically but they don't pack a punch for their pts (9.5 dmg on 4+ sv and 7 on 3+ only if all of them get into combat on 50mms and 6+ sv probably not). The AoR is wayyyy to complicated for the little benefit you get and you lose the best piece in the army for it (Frostlord). All the while, the mawpit might be a viable alternative to the mawpot, but the fact that it wasn't even released for this game but in a box with models for a different one speaks volumes on how dogwater this update has been for the ogres. I looked at IJ's AoR and was like, "Man i hope at least my ogres will get something better." Boy was i wrong lol. Loved the show but see ogre rules spread amongst other armies and still getting shafted, i just pray that the FEC update will take me out of a depression spiral of all my armies doing poorly.
Separate note Tyler trust everyone that is saying that you wont even notice your first model by the time you finish your last bc you'll be so happy with the project being done. ( Even if you do then hey its just one model not the 40 in the army so you can just repaint the one.)

After seeing how badly written those ogre rules are I'm starting to understand why GW don't credit their rules writers...
