I am 80 years old and have driven the Alaska Highway enough times to want to do it more, but at my age, I’m not able to do it anymore, so I especially appreciate being able to follow along as you go on this adventure. I’ve driven the highway in every season, and even almost ran out of gas on January 1 in the early 90’s. It’s such a wonderful adventure, especially if you’re going it alone! I have some great memories!
I've NEVER sat through 2 hrs and 32 minutes of anything on you tube or any other electronic social forum since their inception 😱 . Besides the views , the sites , the cooking and the van , what showcased it was your voice. There's no screaming, babbling or just carrying on irrelevantly. It was concise , smooth and informational. It was like I was sitting on the passenger seat with you. Thanks for taking the time and going through all it takes to record, edit and post your experiences and sharing them here. And yes, by all means, keep em coming. You have a new subscriber 😉👍💪
Ryan, I live here in Chugiak, Alaska. I just wanted to thank you for having taken the time to document your journey through our beautiful state. I also want to commend you for the way in which you you've described your experience along the way. I can honestly say that you, as a visitor, have set an example for the way in which, we, wish that all tourists would behave and conduct themselves. (We, meaning .... Us, residents of, Alaska) Thank you for having expressed the utmost respect for the environment, the wildlife and all my wonderful Neighbors. It seems as though you had a great experience on your adventure traveling the "Haul Road"... a.k.a. The Dalton Highway! You are lucky for having survived that highway without having had any major problems along the way. Our first experience with the Dalton Highway.... we drove all the way up to the city of Wisemen, having started our trip in Anchorage (roughly 700 miles). On our return home, the brakes on our Toyota failed. And as you are fully aware, the only place to get car parts that far north is in Fairbanks. I had to drive the "Hell Highway" from Wisemen to Fairbanks with absolutely NO brakes on our Tundra while pulling a trailer....hundreds of miles of dirt and pure stress. Anyway, thanks for the video... it allowed me to see all the scenery that I had missed on our return drive home!
My family drove the AlCan highway when I was nine years old (I am 71) now. The road was not paved. we stayed at campgrounds where we had so much fun with the Canadians. So good to see what it looks like now. Much gratitude to you so I could see it
I took this very same trip that you're taking but I started in texas. Drove from Texas to mi 0 of the Alaska highway then I took that all the way through Canada to Anchorage AK and out of Anchorage where I stayed for a while. Then I took the Eagle River Highway up to Wasilla where i connected with the Parks Highway that took me to Fairbanks. Got on the Dalton Highway and drove all the way to Purdue Bay. I went up there on vacation, loved the beauty of its nature, the different ways of the people, and the peace and quiet that I so needed at the time, and ended up living in Alaska for 14 years. That was before social media so I used a book called The Milepost and a map. So when you see the beautiful things along the highway, and I am watching, I'm seeing them again and it is wonderful. I left my front license plate in Watson Lake. 😊 Safe travels!
You are a kind man… never change that about yourself. I like how you cook healthy meals . This is a really good detailed trip going up to Alaska . I have a van and I’m ready to do this trip soon.
I used to drive the Dalton for work for many years and knew every corner. I’ve driven every month of the year during the day and night. I wasn’t a trucker but drove a few hundred thousand miles on it. I also have driven many miles on the pipeline right of way. I’ve driven from Prudhoe to Fairbanks in under 9 hours. I also flew around the pipeline and to mountain tops in helicopters. I did this for 15 years. It’s cool to see it again. It’s been 10 years since I worked there.
Oh my! I can’t believe I actually watched the entire 2:31:30 of your journey! New to exploring van life for me as a solo female. Those mosquitoes had me relive recent bee swarm attack, rushed to ED. Buggers even went inside my pants, blouse, facial bites everywhere. Doc’s removed several stingers back of my thighs! Gosh never saw the swarm! However, survived, yet, I’m a little leery re being bitten by flying insects! After viewing this episode, there’s much to prepare to explore U.S.A. Will have to take shorter trips for sure. I know my spine would not have allowed me to reach the point you did. Thanks again for the experience! You accomplished your goal in style. Great job!
I’m in the same camp as many other commenters in that I have never! ever! ever! watched any youtube over 10 min. I like short and to the point. But for some reason I clicked on your video thinking I’d check out 4-5 minutes, get bored and move on. But that wasn’t the case. I got hooked. The scenery, the cooking, your odd but interesting town stops and your voice….yes your voice is smooth & calming. And also love your curly hair. Adventure On, Be Safe! Thanks for sharing.
Watching now. We are off to buy an adventure van this weekend and watching this answered so many questions I had about the reality of van life. I indeed felt like we were on the trip with Ryan. Don't let the length discourage you. We didn't want to miss a second.
Hello Ryan. I'm from Southeast Tennessee born and raised. My first time seeing your channel. What a trip you had. I loved it. I lived in Key Largo 13 years and my sister lived in Islamorada 30 years. I'm back home in Tennessee. I think this was the most fun ever watching you. You're a good cook too. I love your van. Even though I'm older now, I think I could do many road trips like you. Ha., especially since im used to these mountainous country roads. I just need a perfect van like yours. Great job on building it. I can't wait to see more of your adventures. God bless. Happy trails.
I really enjoy watching you. I am a heavy traveler myself. I’ve been every state in the US and all over Europe central and South America and beyond so I love to watch the adventures. However, I thought it was cute when you said you were back in the United States, since Alaska has been, part of the US since 1937 Keep up the adventures these days traveling is the real way to enjoy life for many of us! One of these days unless you already have and I missed it you need to travel the Hawaiian islands. I would love to see a video of you taking you a ride up highway to Hannah, it’s a thrill and quite memorable.
Watched every vlog as it came out, but in the last few weeks I’ve been laid off and the new job opportunity I’ve been working on just fell through, so this long format video has allowed me to just disconnect from the issues for a bit before dusting myself off and pursuing other opportunities. Thankful for this content. 😊
Don't know where you live but you could consider the temp service and may soon find you a well paid permanent job if nothing comes up. I done that when covid came along don't think I will go back to commercial plumbing unless I do some residential house side work.
It never gets old to watch someone experience the Beauty of British Columbia.. Best province in Canada by far for this beauty. I am blessed. You need to see Jasper, whistler, Summerland...
I watched every minute of this two-and-a-half hour vlog - and it was worth every second. I'm happy for you that you got to realize your dream to drive to Alaska. I loved the scenery on the screen, but I can honestly say I appreciate the city more than ever. Great job!
Wow! Just got to the end of the video and it made me sad that it was the end. 😢 This video was so enjoyable to watch; the narrative, the scenery, the adventure… it was all amazing! Thank you ❤
That was amazing! I watched it at night and kept falling asleep and finished this morning. Ironically I have friends who just flew to Seattle yesterday for a cruise through Alaska. What a fantastic trip. It had to be lonely, thank you for a terrific adventure.
Oh my gosh! Have been through that same highway, Fairbanks, Whitehorse, Denali, on up where there was no stores, people drove once a month to the store. Stayed 2 days in Whitehorse. Took the transport to Walmart where there is camping. Great memories. Was on a tour bus, hit every chug hole, hope you see Tok and North Pole! Be safe
Ryan, I absolutely love this! I recently moved to Key West back in September from Dallas TX. At first was living on a sailboat, I am now building a van to take me on many ventures with my pup Jax and explore just like this! These video you make have helped me through so many lonely and homesick nights while I ponder about my purpose. Keep on truckin' as Mav says
Bro your so blessed to get to do something like that most of us well never get to experience. Thank you for showing your experience Alaska looks beautiful.
Watched this through its entirety -- and thoroughly enjoyed it. I drove roundtrip from Maine to Oregon and back during Covid in a similar rig: a 2019 Promaster 2500. I was surprised at how well it held up--no issues, not even a flat or a crack in the windshield. Look forward to future posts of yours-thanks!
Thanks for checking on the pronunciation of Atigun Pass. I watched this mainly because I've lived in Alaska for over 35 years and this can be a very dangerous trip.
Dope trip! Also, I want to say thank you for helping 6.2k viewers to our Alaska video. This is the range I wanted to see, but we had to head back to the lower 48. 😫 Your Van looks dope, too. We hope to cross paths with you one day. We've been on the road for 4 years and can't wait to get back to it. Hahaha, yeah, Canadian tire is one of the pride and joys for Canadians. I'm wondering if you come across Paco our dog on the pump at the gas station on the Dalton highway 😂😂😂 That Artic circle camp ground is beautiful. ❤❤ Great video and congrats on making to the Artic Ocean and actually swimming in it. 🎉
Wife and I just watched the whole vid..Great work you have inspired us to do this trip In our retirement. which is 7 yrs away. guess we start planning now... much Respect to you on your journey
Buckle up Buttercup. I have absolutely enjoyed your journey. I have laughed and I have cried. As a child my family drove from Jacksonville,FL to Alaska. 7 of us in a camper-5 children. In the 60’s none of the hwy was paved and all the windows had to be covered with cardboard. I was one of those children. Oh, did I mention that our families had just met. This was our bonding trip-again in the 60’s. No cell phones, tvs or Xbox. I just need to point out that you need to slow way down. There are so many great hikes, swimming holes, fascinating historical sites. We met Klondike Mike and panned for gold with him. We spent a lot of time with locals. Caught our own salmon and crabs. There were two 9 year old girls that wondered off in Dawson Creek and got lost. I was one of them and my brand new sister was the other. We put a fire together and waited for help to arrive. My 13 yr old brother hiked Mt Seward alone. The other 9 yr old and I went back for our 60th, and will make at least one more trip.
The "Lindgren Style" trap is what the black funnel looking thing is you found in Canada. It is mainly used to catch beetles and other wood boring insects. Great Video even though I had watch it in a 2 day increment. Safe Travels.
Getting better and better man. Never stop man, can’t tell you how much I love watching your content. Keep living your life to the fullest and enjoying every second of it!
This just happened to come up in my feed. I didn’t pay attention to the length of video(s) until I thought the first was over. Made it all the way to send. Very enjoyable. Nice rig too! I am going to check out more. And congratulations on completing your journey!
Ryan, I appreciate your coverage of your drive of the Alaska, Dalton and Prudue Bay Highways. Back when the Alaska Highway was being built, both my parents sides of the family moved from Saskatchewan to work on various new business developments such as Saw mill, potato and new oil fields. One side of the Anderson's developed the Pink Mountain lodge at mile 147 and flew Bush Piolet services to the remote native villages. I remember, I used to like listening to my Grandpa talk about his experiences of being part of the construction, and in his mind he was part of the greatest thing that ever happened to Canada's north country. Grandpa Anderson, also liked the unique aspects of the terrain along the way and used to talk about his experiences back when the road was being built. He also respected the American Army and what they did for the development of the BC, Yukon and Alaskan wilderness. I drove the Alaska Highway in 2021 to the little town of Haines Junction, where one of my Brother's lives and works, and still astounded by the untouched mountains and wilderness.
I was born and grew up in British Columbia, Canada and I have never heard of the 'Sign Post' forest. It looks so beautiful. It is my wish that I will get to drive up the Alaskan Hwy someday. FYI: it's a small world as I eventually met & married an American and relocated to Maryland which is where he was from. I stayed over there for less than 2 years because after one very hot and extremely humid summer we moved back to the West Coast.. Have you seen the Northern Lights yet? They are simply unforgettable. I am so enjoying your channel - glad to have found it.
I loved watching this. I was riveted to the screen. This is a trip I’ve thought of doing. It’s so wonderful to get to see this and know what to expect. I might make it one day. It will be a déjà vu experience because I was with you every step. I didn’t miss a frame. Thank you Ryan. Love your videos. Keep posting.
This is just awesome, Ryan. Thanks for sharing it. I have become a subscriber and have really enjoyed your gentle spirit and kindness (even to a mouse!), and therefore am now not just a subscriber, but also a fan! This will be a trip that my wife and I will have to make, albeit starting from the much-closer Portland, Oregon. She has told me rather decisively that she has no interest in nor any intention of swimming in the Arctic Ocean, but she was, 50+ years ago, a champion high-school swimmer, and I think the challenge just may be too great for her to pass on once we are there and she lays eyes on it. Hardly anything brings us closer to people we love than traveling alone without them to some faraway place, and I sense your girlfriend was the audience you were making this video for. Happy travels, my friend. I look forward to watching much more from you. All my best, Archie -- from just-outside-of Portland, Oregon.
I enjoyed watching your video; thanks for letting us join you! I drove part of the Alcan in the 1990's; but we did not go north of Fairbanks. But we drove the Dempster Highway all the to Inuvik with a rented Camper. Cost us 3 tires, and WE we're eaten by mosquitos in Inuvik.....still, an amazig trip. Keep doing what you're doing, I will definitely check your other videos. Safe travels and greetings from Germany.
Enjoyed the video! I drove to Deadhorse in September of 2022 and it was muddy, snowy and nerve wracking. Especially, the Chadalar shelf, which was the muddy section the lady warned you about. glad to see my sticker was still on the sign! 😂
Just saved your video to my Alaska playlist. Planning our retirement trip since we will be retiring in 2 years at 55. Think we have decided not to bring our RV & to build out a van. Loved every minute of your video.
Love the Alaskan journey. I followed you in your video series and enjoyed keeping up with you. I'm building a plane in my garage and your videos keep me company! Keep up the great work
love your content .. i think many would agree your style of shooting and editing makes us feel as though we took that trip with you ... enjoying his video for sure! happy monday Ryan!
dude you gotta keep these coming! your vlogs are great & the added cooking & chef tips in between are golden!! i’ve even started looking at campers 😅. thanks for the content man, what a relief
Thanks for doing van life so we can sit at home. Appreciate it. Van life is hard and uncomfortable. Can be good for some, or for some time. I think after 2 years it gets hard. Many people end up going back to regular life. Definitely makes for a good adventure, broadens horizons and gives you perspective. Driving from Florida to Alaska is wild.
Just started watching you from seeing you in Simplistic's video and I must say I am hooked! I have never sat through a 2 hour + vlog and I enjoyed this so much! Congrats on your achievement and thanks for making me feel like I was right there with you! Really loved watching this video and wish you the best! Hugs from Miami Lakes, FL!
I just did the Alaska Hwy this past summer in my van and seeing the same stops both you and I made brought tears to my eyes. I decided on doing the Dempster Hwy to the Arctic Ocean rather than the Dalton and oh my was I nervous but it turned out to be the adventure of a lifetime. It’s an absolute shame they close off Prudhoe Bay exclusively to tours. Regardless, watching this made me want to hop back in my car and make that trip again despite how exhausting it was. Thank you for sharing your adventure! ❤️
Very nice trip. My wife and I would never do this long of a trip in our Class B RV but it was almost like being there with you on your venture. Thanks.
Congratulations on achieving one of your dream goals. May all of your travels be safe and bring you this much happiness in seeing the beauty in the World.
First blog I have watched and I'm definitely subscribing to Ryan Twomey adventures! This was pretty awesome to watch! Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Wow, the beauty of the landscape is phenomenal! All the mosquitoes reminded me of a trip in Florida during Love Bug season! Loved every minute of the video! I can hardly wait to watch all your other videos - this was my first!
Congratulations Great job on every aspect the build the planning, the journey...there is nothing like traveling solo, and to a new place remote full of quiet joyous moments.Safe journeys always
Very cool Ryan! Congratulations on this awesome journey. Inspires me to hopefully someday drive the Alaska Highway. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your journey.
Thank-you for taking me along on your beautiful trip, I really enjoyed it. I felt like those of us watching were right along with you. Well done video. I'm a 66 year old woman and can't say how much I really enjoyed the trip. I cruised around Alaska, but never driven. Thanks again.
I have just discovered your channel Ryan and gladly enjoyed your tour of Alaska. I envy you so much having the ability to do something by yourself, wishing I was with you as it is something I would not achieve by myself. Keep Safe. Leo from Australia.
Your van is set up perfectly. Thanks for sharing your adventure. I will probably never get to take this drive personally, so it was nice to be able to ride along with you. Looking forward to more of your adventures.🙂
Its 4a.m and I've just watched this video and really enjoyed it, thank you! I usually watch some shorts to get me sleepy, came across things, ended up watching it all on the telly, can't believe it!!! Ill definitely will be watching more x
Hi my dear, this is my first time watching your video and I was able to watch your entire video on your trip to Alaska even though I live in Liberia west Africa but I like you and thanks for the adventure.
Ryan, amazing video and fantastic trip! Appreciate your vlog style and the balance between interactions, scenery, narrative; fabulous. So now, let's talk about Dungeness Crab. Unless you're at the dock or somewhere there is a salt water hold tank, it's already cooked (pink/orange shell). And as a 6th gen California girl, SF, where the Dungeness also roam (they're Alaska to about Santa Barbara habitat for the best eats), it's my honor to provide 'instruction' on the finer points. Toss the sauce, don't reheat, quadruple the butter. And we don't do 'old bay' no matter how much we love it (that's blue crab stuff!). Grab a bottle of chilled white (Sauvignon Blanc; Pinot Gris; Chardonnay; Riesling for something a little sweeter). A couple of sourdough baguettes. Melt about a pound of butter, toss in some sauteed minced garlic. While you're picking the crab, have some bread dipped in garlic butter and keep the wine flowing. When you have your pile, indulge. Dungeness is a 'sweet' meat; tender, the best. Had the opportunity to produce the 'Crab Cooking Olympics' in SF and Baltimore (Dungeness vs Blue Crab), with chefs from around the world and judges including James Beard. It was a blast! And in spite of all the amazing creations done with both, simplest always comes out on top! Buttery fingers, buttery chins, a big ol' mess of shells. New subscriber! Thank you for the journey and for being a good 'guest' in Alaska.
This was the first video I watched and I can't believe I watched the whole thing. Good job getting the trip and information together. I wouldn't have thought of some of that stuff like the asphalt issues, mudslides and avalanches.
I am 80 years old and have driven the Alaska Highway enough times to want to do it more, but at my age, I’m not able to do it anymore, so I especially appreciate being able to follow along as you go on this adventure. It’s such a wonderful adventure, especially if you’re going it alone! I have some great memories!
That’s awesome
I enjoy this because traveling is difficult for me ❤
Ohhhh I Love That for you! ❤❤
I wish I could just have an hour or your time
Enjoying a coffee and hearing all of your amazing stories and memories ❤❤❤
❤❤❤
I’m glad you released the mouse. It was the right thing to do. You were in his space. I agree. Hot Springs sounds like a good thing to do.😊

100% true! Excellent video in every aspect! Every minute is exciting and fun! Love the scenery, the cooking, his voice, etc., etc. 👍
Well said. I’m hooked!
I don't even like camping in any form, but I enjoyed this video. You know how to make it exciting. I like traveling with you.
I think life is very short, and we can try to challenge the things we like, and don't leave regrets about our lives
Exactly how I feel about this video! Crazy that I watched the whole thing. I swear it elevated my mood by several notches. Thank you.

Great video and very entertaining.
You’re the man. Made my last two days settling down with you. Would love to see more of this two hour mega road trip format.

Thanks for taking me with you! Amazing trip!! ❤
Bro your so blessed to get to do something like that most of us well never get to experience. Thank you for showing your experience Alaska looks beautiful.
Ryan, so nice to see you out exploring the beautiful and interesting parts of our country. What a wonderful adventure. Stay safe
Portland to Portland, how was your trip? All the best.
Thanks for checking on the pronunciation of Atigun Pass. I watched this mainly because I've lived in Alaska for over 35 years and this can be a very dangerous trip.
This was the best vlog that I've seen in years! Congratulations Ryan on the amazing adventure!
It seems that you like this lifestyle very much, and you can try to do one thing
When all unpredictability is gone, it's not much of an adventure, is it?
Dope trip! Also, I want to say thank you for helping 6.2k viewers to our Alaska video.
This is the range I wanted to see, but we had to head back to the lower 48. 😫
Your Van looks dope, too. We hope to cross paths with you one day. We've been on the road for 4 years and can't wait to get back to it.
Hahaha, yeah, Canadian tire is one of the pride and joys for Canadians.
I'm wondering if you come across Paco our dog on the pump at the gas station on the Dalton highway 😂😂😂
That Artic circle camp ground is beautiful. ❤❤
Great video and congrats on making to the Artic Ocean and actually swimming in it.
I got crazy insomnia man, i always watch your videos at night and rewatch older ones. Keep it up and another one of these would be awsome:D
I feel so old.....those old gas pumps brought back so many good memories!!!!!
The "Lindgren Style" trap is what the black funnel looking thing is you found in Canada. It is mainly used to catch beetles and other wood boring insects. Great Video even though I had watch it in a 2 day increment. Safe Travels.
TY I was wondering if it was a bug trap.
Thanks@thomturpin! I was curious too!
Your films are so well done. thanks for taking us along with you.
Getting better and better man. Never stop man, can’t tell you how much I love watching your content. Keep living your life to the fullest and enjoying every second of it!
Thank you as well Ryan, we all LOVE watching you and all your fun adventures. Hugs. And safe travels.
I’ve driven both pulling a tear drop trailer and it was great. One of our best trips ever.
Always look forward to a new van life episode. It comforts me and makes me feel more relief, thanks for the amazing uploads Ryan and keep it up.
Excellent video! Beautiful scenery. Never been to Alaska, so thanks for making this and that you made it safely. So cool!
Amazing. You got the whole Alaskan trip in one. Thank you, Ryan. Keep climbing. 🚀
Very nice and you are the second person I've watched get all the way up there. Congratulations for sure! I know it isn't easy or cheap!
All my best, Archie
-- from just-outside-of Portland, Oregon.
Well done Ryan! You captured what an adventure should be like done right.
Had a rough day today. The joy I felt when I saw 2 hours of my dude!😍 Thank you Ryan. Safe travels❤️
It is such a pleasure to watch a totally independent man do it on his own. I want to thank your momma for raising such a great man. New subbie
Love the Alaskan journey. I followed you in your video series and enjoyed keeping up with you. I'm building a plane in my garage and your videos keep me company! Keep up the great work
Good luck with your plane keep safe 👍 🙏 💙
What kind of plane are you building in your garage
I just want to thank you for sharing your road trip with us. Congratulations Ryan.
A 2 hour Ryan vlog was the best thing about today ❤

I could watch ur videos all day man. I literally do whilst working

53:17 this man just divided the internet without knowing it... love the vlog man.
Dude is having the best time of his life, what a journey!
I never binge watch anything. But I sat and watched this entire video. Awesome work. Can't wait to watch more of your work!
Your Alaska video series is so comforting to me. Your videos melt any anxiety I may be experiencing away.
This was awesome I thoroughly enjoyed coming along for the ride - cheers
Wow, the beauty of the landscape is phenomenal! All the mosquitoes reminded me of a trip in Florida during Love Bug season! Loved every minute of the video! I can hardly wait to watch all your other videos - this was my first!
This was two nights of entertainment for me! Killer trip and amazing content from you as always. I’ll catch ya on the road one of these days 🫡

Thank-you for taking me along on your beautiful trip, I really enjoyed it. I felt like those of us watching were right along with you. Well done video. I'm a 66 year old woman and can't say how much I really enjoyed the trip. I cruised around Alaska, but never driven. Thanks again.
Darks with lights...I like your style. 🤘
I have just discovered your channel Ryan and gladly enjoyed your tour of Alaska. I envy you so much having the ability to do something by yourself, wishing I was with you as it is something I would not achieve by myself. Keep Safe. Leo from Australia.
Ive been enjoying your adventures for awhile and just got a shirt. Thanks for doing what you do!
Your van is set up perfectly. Thanks for sharing your adventure. I will probably never get to take this drive personally, so it was nice to be able to ride along with you. Looking forward to more of your adventures.🙂
Watched you make this trip both episodically, and again today as a long-form! I loved every second of it.
Its 4a.m and I've just watched this video and really enjoyed it, thank you! I usually watch some shorts to get me sleepy, came across things, ended up watching it all on the telly, can't believe it!!! Ill definitely will be watching more x
The empathy you showed Steven the mouse convinced me to buy your merch.
I know should of had a shirt to say that with the mouse picture on the trap.
If that mouse had run over my leg while I was sleeping the inside would have looked like a hurricane and passes through 😂
This vlog deserves a Cheer Choice Award for vlog of the year! Great work, man.
Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.
This was the first video I watched and I can't believe I watched the whole thing. Good job getting the trip and information together. I wouldn't have thought of some of that stuff like the asphalt issues, mudslides and avalanches.
