Breathtaking, thank you for naming, showing how big the blooms are and most of all health of your 🌹
Awesome...love your rose garden.
Vanessa Bell is absolutely gorgeous! Such a dreamy lemony yellow! And healthy!!
Oh my gosh .... I grabbed a cup of Saturday morning coffee and happily stumbled upon your channel !!!! I am in heaven !!! I love that you are giving the names and information about the roses (and other plantings) ... ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for the encouraging feedback. I’m so glad you enjoyed the rose walk.❤️
Kimberly, you are NOT a good influence on me! Added to my wishlist from this video: Bliss Parfuma, Soeur Emanuel,, Acropolis, Crazy Love, Sweet Madamoiselle, Sonnewelt, Rosie the Riveter, and Ascot!! SOOOOO amazing!!
Ah- misery likes company 😍 thank you for always being so supportive
I've loved David Austin roses for many years, and have been lucky enough to live near enough to visit their nursery many times, going back to the days when there weren't so many varieties, but we had the gorgeous Sweet Juliet, Sharifa Asma, and Gertrude Jekyll which of course is still going now. We often saw Mr Austin going around the gardens at the nursery; and the peacocks made it all the more magical. My favourite Austins are Constance Spry (just waiting for her to bloom any time now), Graham Thomas (rampant!) and the Lady of Shalott, bringing my love of roses and love of Pre Raphaelite art together. Her foliage and the orange blooms are straight from Rossetti's paint palette - and she is very fragrant. We have Munstead Wood planted in a drift in front of Lady of Shalott and the colour combination is amazing. Loving the video!
I am green with envy that you have been to DA and have seen the peacock and even David Austin Senior. I tease my husband that I need a peacock here at our home. Tell me more about your Munstead. Is he 3' tall? My Munstead is rather short.
@@TheRoseGeek Ours are rather short, but we're on heavy clay here (I'd love to know what your soil is!) and the front of the border - where the Munsteads edge on to - is prone to waterlogging when it rains. Which is, of course, very often. I've dug in some organic humus around the plants earlier this year so we'll see what they're like, but they are on average about two feet in height and somewhat less prolific than when they were first planted. I'd love a peacock but the neighbours would kick off....Do you live beside a lake there, it looks amazing! DA nursery is closed at the moment and no indication of when they will reopen, but hopefully they will at some point. Sadly of course we won't be seeing Mr Austin himself, but his roses live on, what more beautiful memorial could one wish for?
Awesome roses wow!
I like your comments and insights regarding these roses. After spending countless hours working on your garden, who better could point out the beauty and grandeur of Mother Nature?
Thank you for the nice videos and the hard work to prepare all the rose descriptions.
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching!
I am a fan of roses
Gorgeous roses in bloom! 💚🌸🪴🙏. Thanks for a beautiful show!
Greetings from Canada zone 4b! Myself, I share Empress Josephine and Munstead Wood.
From your collection, I fancy Vanessa Bell, Sweet Mademoiselle and Sonnenwelt. I'm not a big fan of David Austen roses in general, however; my favourites I count on one hand. I much prefer Korde's Fairytale and Parfuma series roses. Having said that, both Austins and Kordes roses require winter protection in my zone, pruned hard in spring because of a lack of cane hardiness over the winter.
My favourite Austin's include St. Swithun, Munstead Wood, William Shakespeare 2000, Mary Rose, Abraham Darby and Jude the Obscure, all of which I've grown successfully.
Your garden in beautiful; thanks for sharing! 🌹
Roses 🌹 very good investment ! You are blessed my lady … thank you for sharing your beautiful garden . I have eleven Roses so far . They survived our very cold winter in Chicago
I love your video on your roses. I am also a rose lover and learning a lot from your roses videos. You should let us know what your planting zone is and what region of the country you live in so we can related to our challenges when growing roses compare to yours.
Many thanks for introducing me to other rose growers besides David Austin. My favorite DA for color and scent is Munstead Wood. Also appreciate your choice of companion plants-nepeta swamps my roses. By the way, I believe that Hermione is pronounced Her-My-Nee.
New subscriber, your roses are beautiful and heavenly 🌸
Thank you so much! Have a great weekend!
I love roses amagazing 😍
Incredible garden, Incredible location!
Thank you for such an informative video. I have just planted Olivia and The Generous Gardener (I have a few others but these are my first DAs) and am so looking forward to the blooms next season.
Wonderful video. Great to see the bushes in your gorgeous garden. I’m happy to see the older ones like Prospero and Tradescant too.
Many thanks!
Your roses are absolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing. ❤
Absolutely wonderful roses! I really enjoyed this.
@@TheRoseGeek Yes indeed.
I like the talking tours. I think your husband would also love Life of the Party. It’s similar to his favorite and has a nice fruity fragrance
Thanks for always being so supportive. I might surprise my husband with Life of the Party! Thank you for the recommendation.
I just received Mary Washington, Cabbage Rose. and Variegata de Bologna from Rogue Valley Roses. I’m going to pot them up and plant in the fall.
OH! I just recently saw a picture of Variegata de Bologna. Please let me know how she does. I may need to add her to my garden.
Thank you❤️👍
Thank you! Your awesome!
Beautiful Rose

On Mother's Day here in Aus your video has been the best present ever. It is absolutely wonderful to see the roses I have come across in catalogues growing in your garden and to have your growing tips as well . Thank you , thank you thank you xxxxxx
I love your rose garden. What a wonderful collection! I have 3 lady of shalott in a mixed boarder and they just bloom and bloom. I have Jude the obscure on order and am excited for his arrival x
Beautiful roses. I'm surprise you don't have Jude The Obscure along side with Evelyn... :). Thank you so much for the details & tour.
Great rose selection and arrangement. The waterfront view is easy on the eyes as well. Thanks for the feedback on your roses.
Amazing garden and the diversity of plants is absolutely stunning! 🌹
I liked it.... and your geek talk. Thanks
Lovely garden
Love David Austin 's roses. My garden has about 20 of them , smells so nice.
Which is your favorite from your garden? It is hard for me to choose just one.
@@TheRoseGeek i think our lady of the lake ramble rose. My mom raised roses , I just thought it too much time. Now retired I love my roses.
@@sandyhossman7771 I might need to consider Lady of the Lake!
I love ❤️ your beauties!! And your filler plants!! I have several Roses, “Darby Rose Climbers and David Austin’s Sentimental and several other varieties!! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous gardens!!
Beautiful garden!
My goodness I am envious of your beautiful big garden 🥰 thank you so much for sharing. Love love the video. Making more excited to go out in the yard and dig 😅
What a wonderful collection of floribundas!
Love your tour. I am in MD too, so happy to find your channel. Thanks for sharing.
Your 🌹 are beautiful I am doing slow this year in my garden with everything going on only clearance for me but I found one David Austin rose last year first one I saw and I bought it
@@TheRoseGeek tks
Wow that was such a treat! I thoroughly enjoyed watching all your beautiful gardens thank you so much for names of roses and so much wonderful info. I have a handful of these and now I want to add several to my collection. Hi from Utah. I just found your channel and facebook group. Excited to learn from you and by the way my daughter's name is Kimberly. Good name ;)
Gentle Her - my - oney is beautiful ( the pale pink one)
Thank you! Gosh I wish I didn't mispronounce that one! Uff!
@@TheRoseGeek don't worry, here in the UK that's how we pronounce it. 💕🌹
My wife Ann and I only have about 50 roses and little experience. We have 5 or 6 Crazy Love and have to agree with your Husband, it is our favorite so far also. I don't care for whites or pale colors so much. I lean more toward the vivid colors like in your raised beds. You did help me find some nice ones so thank you for posting the names on the video so that I could pause and search some that I liked.
Hi Rose Geek....thank you for your informative videos! It's fun seeing your roses and beautiful garden. My question for you is: do you have an irrigation system for your roses? How do you water them?
Hi Mrs Rosylady! Yes, I have an irrigation for the roses on the waterfront side. The raised beds at the road are not on irrigation. I use a water meter on the raised bed once a week to make sure they are getting enough water.
Спасибо Вам! Очень интересно.
Nice vlog thank you , from INDIA
Just osm amazing 👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌👌👌
How about KoKo Loco and Ebb Tide? Please have those roses in your garden too and update me. I love the color of those roses. You can buy them online 😁🌹
Your roses are sooo beautiful , and each one has its own beauty ! Love love ❤️ 🌹
Thank you so much. I couldn’t agree more that each rose is beautiful in it own way, like children and pets.
Such beautiful roses!! What would you say with all your experience what roses are the most hardy??🌷🌷
Спасибо!
Are you feeding your roses? Also black spot is usually from high humidity and being by water your lucky you only ha e one like that!
Hello I was just wondering how far apart do you plant your roses from each other thankyou, such a beautiful garden
A great walk through your amazing collection! Thank you!! I just have one question: I think you might have mixed up the Louise Odier with another variety. I have it in my garden and the blooms look much bigger and more full, also the shrub is more on the tall side... maybe it's worth checking again if your plant is really a Louise?
I see some Salvias in your garden. What varieties are they? Look like greggiis or greggii hybrids. Ok. Just after I posted this I saw Vibe Ignition Fuschia.
@@TheRoseGeek I actually saw it when you had it printed on the screen, but thanks. The Salvias look great.
This was so helpful for me! I'm about to purchase a few cutting roses, landscape roses, & climbing roses. It is very time consuming looking through the website trying to find a rose that is disease resistant, big, double, etc. Thanks so much for this!
Glad you found it helpful. I wish you a great growing season.
Binge watching your channel ❤
Thank you for a lovely tour around your garden, it’s Absolutely gorgeous! I’m in love with two of your roses, earth angels and olivia! From the video it looks like earth angels would have better and fuller foliage as a hedge but im little worried about their season. I know olivia flowers continuously for many months, but is that what you found from earth angels too or do they have distinctive flushes/seasons? Thank u xx
@@TheRoseGeek Thank u so much for your reply. Super helpful! How have you found Bliss Perfuma compare to Olivia?
It is funny how you say Hermione LOL ...In the Harry Potter Movies, the girl's name is Hermione, pronounced "Her-My-O'Knee"...with the O more silent..."Her-My-Knee".... :) ...I Loved all the colors but my favorite is the shade that is like Scarlet Pimpernel, that Salmon color!
@@TheRoseGeek You have me so inspired..a .Rose is the Cure!
Love your garden and your roses! I'm looking for a small tree to accompany my pergola, so I noticed the trees between your roses at around 10 seconds of you video that might fit into my small yard. Could you tell me the name of those trees? Thanks🌹
Great tour, your style is similar to mine .I’m researching roses to add to my collection that are large blooms and highly fragrant. Do you have golden celebration from DAR
Hi Dessyluvs GT. I am adding Golden Celebration next year. I just recently started my collection of yellows and added Teasing Georgia, St Alban, and Molineux. I highly recommend Vanessa which has a light yellow bloom that fades to white.
Hermione is pronounced ‘her mine e’, like Harry Potter character.
Alnwick = "Annick". Blame our odd English spelling!
@Michael Perry OH! I have it now. Thank you for gently helping to correct my pronunciation.
@@denisehill7769 Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? How in the world did they add an "l" and "w" and they want it to be silent? Thank you for gently helping to correct my pronunciation.
@@TheRoseGeek I apologise if I came across as patronising; I hate getting things wrong so would prefer someone to point it out. We seem to take a sadistic pleasure in adding extra letters for them to be completely ignored!
@@denisehill7769 Thanks, but no apology needed. My husband watched the Harry Potter movies and told me during our review that I mispronounced Hermione.
So beautiful! Are your roses own roots?😊
I have a mix of own root roses and grafted bare root roses. I buy own root roses whenever possible to avoid crown gall and root “suckers”.
What was the coral colored rose by the happy returns day lily? So pretty!
Hi Kim, Your Emily Bronte is stunning!!❤️ Is she planted in full sun or partial shade?
I wonder if you could use a peony cage on that shrub that flattens.
Great overview of your roses - I learned so much and really enjoyed seeing some of the roses that I've JUST planted as bare roots.
What zone are you planting in? I'm impressed that you're able to grow such a beautiful garden by the ocean.
(I'm in zone 5a upper NY state)
Warm regards
Jennie
Zone 7b in Maryland. The body of water is a river off the Chesapeake Bay.
@@TheRoseGeek Ahhhhhh! I live on a lake (Goodyear) on the Susquehanna river that flows to your Chesapeake Bay. I love living on a river - I feel the connection. If you ever have a chance, I recommend the Brooklyn Botanic Garden - it will fulfill your desire for labels while simultaneously delighting all of the other senses.
@@TheRoseGeek ruclips.net/video/mjinKHfcGB0/видео.html
@@jenniewilliams1668 I’ve added the Brooklyn Botanical Garden to our list. Speaking of the Susquehanna, we’ve been to the Conowingo Dam several times to take bald eagle pics.
This is relaxing and beautiful
Sonnenwelt is a German word and it means Sunny World. You should pronounce 's' like 'z' (in zebra) and 'w' like 'v'. I am not an English speaker and I love to hear your American accent😀
My Granddaughters name is Eveylynn Rose
My heart is broken that she is sold out
I did put my name on the wait list
Thank you
What a beautiful name! There are a few vendors that you can get on a waitlist with, A Reverence for Roses, High Country Roses, Garden Roses LLC, K&M, and Chateau de la Rose. I am sure you will be able to add her in the future and will love the scent. Thank you for being a part of Rose Geeks!
Nice walk, by the way how is your rose trees doing
Hi Lana R. My Olivia's and Darcey look good and have 2 blooms each. The remaining standards are slowly working up to buds. I can't wait to share them with you.
I much prefer the walk abouts to the music backdrop of the roses. There isn't enough information in those. Did you end up doing the perfume spread sheet?
@@TheRoseGeek I will be really excited when you do that...since perfume is the dominant factor in my rose variety choices. How about Scent type, strength and longevity?
i just came across your channel! what beautiful roses!i have so many questions. how can i contact you. ??
What region is your garden located?? What do you use for fertilizer? And soil composting???
Subscribed. Beautiful garden! Which planting zone are you in?
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. We are in zone 7b in Maryland.
You mentioned the clematis on the tree - what type is it?
If your cat mint is hollowing at the centre, you should split the plant.
Interesting video! please tell us location/zone/temperature ... etc to make your DA roses thrive as such? I m in the hill country of TX n the weather is not pleasant for them, I think.
Maryland, Zone 7b. Temp has been 70s and 80s. First week where we had a few days above 90. It’s very humid.
@@TheRoseGeek You got all good condition for them !
Thanks for the info!
I just watch your videos instead .☹️
@@btlan6121 Thanks for watching. I hope you find a rose in the future that works for you.
@@TheRoseGeek it will be hard because we have deers often and temperature in the 100’s in Aug, September!
You need to check out Antique Rose Emporium in Tyler. ( Texas ) David Austin's US operation is in Texas. You can do it!
I have roses Ann Bolyn & the flowers are as big as boscobel
That is great feedback! Thank you.
I need that sonnewelt! Where can I find one??
YESSSSSSS! She is from Palatine. I just reached out to them this morning to make sure they are going to stock her in this next season. You wont be disappointed..
Oh No! Palatine just emailed that they will not have her this year. I can only hope that they consider the following season.
Which zone are you in?
I see you are using metal staked in labels. Is there a reason? I was thinking of using copper labels tied around stem
Please tell me how to fertilize a potted rose
If it is larger than one gallon in size, I top with compost and use RoseTone fertilizer once a month. You could also add Great Big Roses once a month for a nice boost.
If it is smaller than a gallon, I would use a weak solution of Fish Fertilizer once a week.

Wow🤩 is this heaven!!!
I am looking for a specific David Austin I just cant figure out the name shes filled with leaves beige orange pinkish and has just the most beautiful fruity smell just delicious anyone might have some ideas what's the name? No climber more like a shrub🌹
Hi. There are several of the older varieties that I haven't been able to find yet. By chance do you know what year you saw it? That may help to narrow it down.
@@TheRoseGeek I've seen it this year but I dont know when she was planted so I'm not sure :/ I maybe think its Evelyn but I cant find her in any garden centre since C0vd DAVID AUSTIN doesnt send to Europe anymore 😭 I did get my hands on jude the obscure but it wasnt her either
It might be Lady Emma Hamilton, which I've loved for years, and tried ordering again from David Austin. Unfortunately its not available at the moment. It is orangey in colour, with bronzed foliage and the most delicious scent! Definitely one of my very favourites!
