@@7H7GRm8jm4QCnjuQ The Festival Hall was packed with the great and the good - Edward Heath sat a few seats away from me. The wonderful singers sang solos and in various ensembles accompanied by Gerald Moore. Victoria de los Angeles and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf sang Rossini's Cat Duet - the first time I had heard it, followed by Gerald Moore's farewell speech. What a shame that he was not knighted. He certainly deserved to be!
I remember this very well because I was the page-turner for Gerald that evening. I was touched when he played An Die Music - his fingers trembled a little. When he came off his eyes were wet. Robert Sutherland.
Thanks for this. It's what I'd have imagined. And what a moment, this song of all songs and this farewell performance after his brave jesting about "missing their last buses home". Love the barely audible "Lovely!" from one of the ladies in the front row.
My mother had this LP recording. Gerald Moore was a great man and a magnificent musician. Modesty and class all the way. RIP 🌹
I had the privilege of being in the audience for Gerald Moore's farewell concert. It is a night I will never forget.
Envy, envy, envy... : ) Huge congratulations...
Please tell us about it, if you’re willing

What a great man, what a great artist!!!!
What were some other memories of that night?
Thank you!
I love Gerald Moore. He means so much to me.
Playing An die Musik as a thank you piece is one of the sweetest and most touching things I ever heard
What a lovely cantabile he produces in An Die Musik. A very touching conclusion.
I listened to this concert on the radio. I then bought the LP. I now have the CD. Thank you for posting.
phoenix4165 Same for me.
Thankyou for the beautiful presentation of the conclusion to what must have been a wonderful evening at the RFH.
A Night to Remember indeed.
Thank you!
Such a great musician - Mr Gerald Moore. And much loved for his musicianship, generosity and genius.
Class and such a witty spirit cannot be invented. And are not heard anymore.
"Am I too loud?" is my favorite autobiography ...
thank you!
Thank you!
来自中国的留言,因为Peter duchin才知道的Elisabeth,又因为她才值得Moore,他的performance完全可以作为concert pianist,非常好听
it is not true that there is no cd version.there is and I have it - the entire concert.
