Regardless of how your student loans get paid off (by you or by forgiveness) it feels SOOO good to pay them off! I paid mine off in 2020 and it's been a huge weight off my shoulders.
I appreciate getting this personal finance insight as someone who’s older and barely figuring it all out. I feel like many first Gen millennials like me grew up in cycles of poverty with parents or guardians who had no idea how to manage credit, money, investing upon coming to America. I’m literally having to figure this stuff out on my own right now cause I’m tired of living paycheck to paycheck and I feel so behind but you are hella inspiring me to reclaim my independence & show up for my inner child. We do NOT have to continue cycles of financial illiteracy and we can now claim the tools our parents sacrificed for in order to pay it forward and take care of ourselves financially and healthily. I love how realistic this is and I also love that you are finding time to get your own bag being a content creator. How do you find the time girl?!!!! 😭😭
Thank you for sharing, no words can describe how much I felt this bc it’s also been my experience 🫶🏽🥹 sending you love! Truly, you have to make the time. If you don’t make the time, it won’t happen. For example, I like watching new shows. So sometimes I’ll just work on my budget sheet and expenses while I watch Modern Family or Parks and Rec!
This vlog was nice but also kinda insightful for me-I’m realizing late that I need to budget in a way that’s visual, and while I always put what’s due on my calendar I never make sure that I can pay everything down and save at the same time. I have big goals to move in a year and a half and I’m gonna try to make myself a spreadsheet to help me meet my moving goals. And all the other goals I have.

I totally agree about books coming with trigger warnings. I recently finished it ends with us and I had no idea what it was about. I just read it because of how popular it was. I did enjoy the book, I just wish it had a warning. I did not know or expect it to go the way it did. “Still bootieless” 🤣 same girl

So far my favorite GRADUATING ! And secondly, getting engaged 🧡🧡🥺 and goal wise 🤔 will be honest struggling on that but I have come to accept that not everything would be in my control and finding ways to not burnout myself would be a proud moment
Hey girl! The rate of 3.3% is actually an annual rate. Usually the rate is divided by the days in the year and then multiplied by how many days are in the month to get the monthly rate.
Yes, 3.3% is APY I don’t think I said it would increase at 3.3% growth rate per month. It’s still a high yield though, most bank accounts only offer 0.05% APY. In a normal account my $10k emergency savings would increase by maybe $1-3 month, not even close to keeping up with inflation. (Over time) Now I’m getting $20 dividends per month. It’s definitely much better than regular bank account rates, I.e. why it’s considered a high yield account.

Well first of all, I only have $21k in student Loan debt. The $9000 is money I’ve saved from all of my brand partnerships + overtime at work, etc. (that didn’t get used for any business expenses) I’ve been doing RUclips for 3 years and it wasn’t until this year that I started making enough money to put towards savings. I don’t go into my brand deal income bc brands watch these videos and because business income is hard to track to begin with, so I only share my 9-5 income and google Adsense. But previous months I’ve saved my google Adsense also. If you want to save up for anything, you either have to decrease your expenses or increase your income, or both. There’s really nothing else to it but that. Whether you get a part time job, start a business or side hustle, You got this 🫶🏽
I have got to get that foundation and lip tint. I love playing with make up but I struggle with feeling like I have make up on. I've tried so many products but never those two.

Love this!!! 💕💕💕So inspiring and I love how organized you are! I need some of that in my life haha I heard you mention thinking of doing Smile Direct club. I would recommend that if you do, make sure you get X-rays with your dentist every few months just in case. I did SDC earlier this year for very minimal changes (7 month plan, similar to you I had braces when I was younger but lost retainer and teeth shifted very slightly) During the SDC I had no pain but after 6 months my annual dental checkup the X-rays revealed 4 of my teeth were being apsorped (from moving too fast which is a risk I didn’t realize). I ended up having to get a tooth extracted ($1.2 expense) and it’s been a nightmare because my teeth are still not where I wanted them so I had to stop treatment and may have to have 3 more teeth extracted in the future. This totally negated the savings I was getting with SDC instead in visalign. My dentist had 3 other patients with the same issue from SDC so just be careful with that! I’m just letting you know because I wish I had someone tell me. So great to see all the process you’re making and love your positivity and videos! 🌻

Try to find an orthodontist near you that will do “in house aligners” and not push to sell you Invisalign or smile direct. I only paid $1980 for my 6 month treatment. I had braces for 5 years and broke my retainer so my teeth shifted. I was able to break it into a 6 month payment plan with a $300 down payment.
Ooh that’s actually super helpful! At my old ortho, they offer Invisalign for $3600 which isn’t too bad considering I think it also covers retainers (unlike smile direct club, which is kinda scammy IMO) they don’t tell you up front that you’ll need to purchase new retainers from them (in addition to treatment) every 6 months for the rest of your life…. WILD. So regardless working with an ortho would be less expensive in the long run. Plus my ortho would also do a payment plan (interest free, in-line smile buy direct) yeah… doing research is def important bc that would’ve been a big mistake.
Omg I’m so glad I did more research and immediately told them I want to cancel LOLOL I got my aligners and had done additional research and didn’t want to risk it. So I’m gonna see my old ortho when I go back to oregon to get his profesional opinion.

I love your channels, your WFH episodes and reset routine as well. That said, this is my 2nd time watching this December reset and that’s why I found a small error. Your money in HY saving account doesn’t increase 3.3% every single month but every single year 😂. Just wanna clarify that part.
Thank you 🥹🫶🏽 & lol i just listened to it and I can see why it might be confusing!! 😭😂 but I do know that it’s annual, it’s the APY! There is literally a calculation for it. I just didn’t get into that in the video. I should have said that my money increases every month at 3.3% APY!! APY meaning (annual percentage yield). I’d have to go into how compound interest works and that’s not the point of this video, so I hope everyone does their own research before doing ANYTHING finance related 😅
God truly blessed me bc there is no one in my apartment or near me paying that little. It’s literally bc I moved here during the pandemic when rent was low and got lucky that management only increased rent by $200! Also since my income has increased OTY faster than my rent, I’m just in a good place. But once I move or try to buy a home, it will be down hill from there 🫠🫠
can I also just add that this is new to me lol when I first moved to DC I was making $39k as an intern and paying $1400 in rent. 🫠 so I’m not kidding when I say God just blessed me in this season.

I did SDC earlier this year for very minimal changes (7 month plan, similar to you I had braces when I was younger but lost retainer and teeth shifted very slightly) During the SDC I had no pain but after 6 months my annual dental checkup the X-rays revealed 4 of my teeth were being apsorped (from moving too fast which is a risk I didn’t realize). I ended up having to get a tooth extracted ($1.2 expense) and it’s been a nightmare because my teeth are still not where I wanted them so I had to stop treatment and may have to have 3 more teeth extracted in the future. This totally negated the savings I was getting with SDC instead in visalign. My dentist had 3 other patients with the same issue from SDC so just be careful with that! I’m just letting you know because I wish I had someone tell me.

Try to find an orthodontist near you that will do “in house aligners” and not push to sell you Invisalign or smile direct. I only paid $1980 for my 6 month treatment. I had braces for 5 years and broke my retainer so my teeth shifted. I was able to break it into a 6 month payment plan with a $300 down payment.
Ooh that’s actually super helpful! At my old ortho, they offer Invisalign for $3600 which isn’t too bad considering I think it also covers retainers (unlike smile direct club, which is kinda scammy IMO) they don’t tell you up front that you’ll need to purchase new retainers from them (in addition to treatment) every 6 months for the rest of your life…. WILD. So regardless working with an ortho would be less expensive in the long run.
Plus my ortho would also do a payment plan (interest free, in-line smile buy direct) yeah… doing research is def important bc that would’ve been a big mistake.
Hell nooooo I had a horrible experience with smile direct ... lol their aligners crack a lot .
Omg I’m so glad I did more research and immediately told them I want to cancel LOLOL I got my aligners and had done additional research and didn’t want to risk it. So I’m gonna see my old ortho when I go back to oregon to get his profesional opinion.

😭😂 but I do know that it’s annual, it’s the APY! There is literally a calculation for it. I just didn’t get into that in the video. I should have said that my money increases every month at 3.3% APY!! APY meaning (annual percentage yield). I’d have to go into how compound interest works and that’s not the point of this video, so I hope everyone does their own research before doing ANYTHING finance related 😅

God truly blessed me bc there is no one in my apartment or near me paying that little. It’s literally bc I moved here during the pandemic when rent was low and got lucky that management only increased rent by $200! Also since my income has increased OTY faster than my rent, I’m just in a good place. But once I move or try to buy a home, it will be down hill from there 🫠🫠
can I also just add that this is new to me lol when I first moved to DC I was making $39k as an intern and paying $1400 in rent. 🫠 so I’m not kidding when I say God just blessed me in this season.
