Our families love us and will support us no matter where we go and what we do.
I think a return to Oregon was on your path and you needed it and you accomplished a goal of bringing a home owner but you’re a DMV girlie at heart. You thrive in the outdoors so when you move back (speaking it into existence) you gotta make some time for nature and not just walks. You got this big homie! See you upon your return.

Wow, Jenna's insight of in DC becoming who you are make so much sense to me and I'm 35 😂 but thats exactly how I feel about my parents living alone I kind od feel guilty maybe? for not staying closer (but I am still very close) it just is nostalgic and love them but my life just feel more mine when I am with my boyfriend, in my routines and in a "city" compared to 500people village. Trying to remember that even though I love my family very much, I cant let them determine everything in my life. we gotta do what we need to thrive
I get being torn, it is really hard having family on both coasts, there is always someone you will be missing no matter where you decide to live. I live in a house now but I think about my living in an apartment at least once a week. I miss the simplicity of an apartment, it was so easy to clean and organize. I also stress about upgrades and repairs, wonder if I've set enough aside to cover everything, wondering if I should just save the upgrade money since they are wants not needs. I also miss just calling the landlord or maintenance to deal with stuff I now have to deal with myself after working all week. I don't get as much joy out of homeownership as I thought I would. I also miss being in a walkable neighborhood.
You are still very young. Enjoy city life while you still can. Rent the house out, you got your family there to help manage the property. This is the time you can make mistakes, flip flop, try out things and be okay if they don’t work out. Once you start a family things get harder because you have other people depending on you to make the right decisions. 20s are for making mistakes, your 30s are to learn from them.

My opinion as a parent. If u & David plan for children u should for sure try experiencing city life as a couple beforehand if that’s somethin u both want. Oregon seems more like a family vibe 😃 I love my girls but if I raised them in a city would have been so hard.

This is just a matter of personal preference and your own personality, saying that all parents should raise their kids outside of cities is kind of silly. Pros of raising kids in the city: Vibrant culture, lots more diversity and openness, more accessible services, more babysitters, so much easier to find like-minded moms.
