    I leave my grill outdoors (covered) during the Canadian winters. I do, however, remove all the guts and store them inside. Makes all the difference in the world. I also currently have a Charbroil. Great grill, but I built it into an outdoor kitchen and I'm leaving it behind along with the house I just sold. I just bought a Nexgrill 5 burner with infrared to take to my new house. Looking forward to a summer of great grilling!

    I had a charbroil for 6 years. After about a year the piece under the firebox rusted out. I’ve changed the burners a few times, as well as heat tents. Porcelain started cracking a peeling off, and now firebox is rusting thru. I did only pay $129.00 during an end of season sale, but now need a new grill. Looking at another Charbroil, as well as the Walmart expert grill.

    i had the char broil performance 4 burner kept it covered and cleaned it after every cook and it only lasted 2 seasons before it started rusting. i gave it away n upgraded to weber. i will tell you i dont regret spending the extra money on the weber genesis. the weber cooks alot better and holds heat even during winter time. I will say its easier to clean as well

    I have a Master Forge grill that is similar to your Nexgrill. Bought it from Lowes for $300 ($300 is too much for what it is although they originally priced it at $380). It worked terribly and flare-ups were awful until I converted it to Lava rocks (any good radiant should work). Look up how to do it and you'll be rewarded. I even sometimes throw a few hardwood chips during grilling for extra flavor.

    I got over 12 years life out of my Igloo 60,000 btu stainless steel gas grill. But it rusted out finally. It caught fire a lot over the years. Constant cleaning is the only way to avoid flare ups. I just bought a Nexgrill 720-0896C. I am assembling it now. It looks like a great grill, so far! Thanks for a great video!

      MrSargenti Why do you think it caught fire so much despite the constant cleaning?

    • @MrSargenti
      @MrSargenti 4 года назад +1

      TheGodYouWishYouKnew it collects grease after each use, i cook alot of drippy stuff like burgers and marinated short ribs and gooey stuff. That gathers up between cleanings and catches fire. It never did drain off the grease well. This new NexGrill does a lot better at that.

    • @TheGodYouWishYouKnew

      MrSargenti Be careful with Nexgrill. It may be nice for a season or two and then the problems may start to rear their heads. I wish you the best!

      TheGodYouWishYouKnew That’s why they have this thing call “maintenance.” You do it every so often and it keeps your sh!t working, like on a car or a home. You can’t just own it. You have to maintain it, too. Mow the lawn, change the oil. Sh!t like that. it’s good for you. Buy a new regulator, change some tubing, clean your gas lines. It’s not that hard... really.

      @@repairvehicle I replaced the flavorizer bars 3 years ago and the ignitor 1 year ago but has the same grates. Also I did replace the burners 3 years ago but the old ones were in good shape but I just wanted to update it a little which is cheaper than buying a new one. I looked at some NexGrills at Home Depot and some other ones they have and the lids just seem too flimsy. I like new stuff but just doesn't make sense to give up my old grill. Good video I gotta give thumbs up.

    I personally think (not scientific by any means) A big problem is that propane attracts or makes moisture. So if you're done cooking and just shut the lid, that mosture stays inside the grill longer... I let mine air out a good while after cooking.

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  4 года назад

      Very good point. Because trapped heat condenses and becomes moisture.

    • @evictioncarpentry2628
      @evictioncarpentry2628 4 года назад +1

      @@repairvehicle if you've ever used a propane heater anywhere during winter, you will see how much moisture and condensation is created from it. So I think that would apply here as well as a factor in rusting, along with quality of the steel for sure.

      cpt awesome Garbage grills like Charbroil and Nexgrill will rust out no matter what. You get what you pay for.

  • @MrSzymonurai

    Charbroil has a real opportunity to make the best grill with tru infrared. They just need to upgrade their steel.
    1. Make firebox out of slightly thicker stainless steel. Instead of thin metal.
    2. Make the grates and emitters out of slightly thicker stainless steel.
    3. Stop using rivets use stainless nuts and bolts.
    Your old char broil grill firebox was rusting. You could see pieces of metal that hold the flame deflectors in place had rusted out. They essentially made a box then spot welded and riveted pieces in. They even spot welded some areas. Spot welding is not a complete weld and will leave small space for stuff to creep in.
    I bought a cheap one with rusty firebox. I bought a replacement firebox. I now know where the problem areas are so I will pay attention to those.
    Im going to stop using a wire brush on the grill. I'm also going to spray white vinegar when I'm done.

      Vinegar is acid and will corrode metal

    My Charbroil Lasted 18 years, I took care of it but gave it to a friend, the only issue the igniter stopped working after 6 years. I wanted to purchase another Charbroil but was surprised as the new ones seem to be cheap tin junk certainly not the heavy cast iron grates & Heavy Stainless Steel shell of my old baby. I just Purchased a Nexgrill 5 burner at Home Depot for $198.00. A great deal, the only disappointment is the back is completely open, with Vegas 113 degree heat & sun on the LP Tank is a concern even with a cover over it, otherwise the grill looks & performs excellent & the quality appears to be better than Charbroil, it heats up to cooking temp within 2-3 minutes.

      +Los especialistas Humor negro. Blaze grills look nice, but after checking the prices an average 4-burner Blaze with a free standing cart is over $2000. Maybe they are nice eye candy for outdoor living areas but for weekend burgers the Nexgrill looks pretty good for around $250.
