The owner was of Indian ancestry but was born in Kenya.
After graduating from the University of West London, he had just returned to East Africa when the Ugandan president Idi Amin expelled his country's South Asian minority in 1972.
Living in neighbouring Kenya, He decided to move in case "some Idi Amin type of guy comes in and makes you a beggar overnight," he said in a 2012 interview.
He came to Canada in 1975, where, confronted by the cold and the snow, he said he couldn't think of any other business opportunities but to manufacture fire logs.
"When I got into the fire log business it was a big thing to be macho. Get a chainsaw and cut your own wood and bag it yourself," he said in the 2012 interview.
Instead, he offered convenient products that ignited easily and were made from inexpensive sawdust and wax.
His Toronto-based company, became North America's biggest manufacturer of fire logs.
His companies also have made glue sticks, stationery tapes and mailing supplies. He has now shifted his interests to being a financial backer for technology startups.
According to the architect who designed his house, the property includes two outdoor tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool, a home theatre and a five-car garage.

I really don’t understand why people waste things like this. There is nothing wrong with this house. The workmanship that has gone into this is extraordinary. Thanks for showing us this piece of art Brandon. Cheers, Dave. 👍🏼🇦🇺🇨🇦🤘🏻
I Agree 💯
The feeling of disgust when you said it was going to be demolished for an even bigger mansion was overwhelming. Beautiful home, thanks for the explore, I’m a new follower of yours and enjoy your comments and great videography.
One would almost need a map to find their way around this most incredible home. I can’t in my mind think of any reason one would need a larger home unless people are trying to outdo one another. Incredible features too numerous to list. One of my favorites was the “library” upstairs. There should be a law against destroying the resources and craftsmanship that have gone into this amazing home. People are sick for doing it. Thanks for sharing this massive beautiful home Brandon.
Wow! Some people have too much money, I could fit a house in the foyer when all I need is a shed!
Thanks for the tour Brandon!
🤠👍
It is absolutely gorgeous. So sad this beautiful house will be torn down. 😢
You would think we could solve that mold problem by now! Don't put pools inside and vent these places properly! Just goes to show that money doesn't buy quality craftsmanship. I bet the blueprints were awesome! Thanks for a another great explore before demo Brandon. Cool to see how the other side lives😂👋✌💜
I could get lost in that place! Again I can't believe they're tearing it down. We waste so much in this world. I would have loved to see how it was furnished. Great job Brandon....
You said it!! It’s crazy the amount of money in this world who owns these homes??? What do they do??
Excellent showing Brandon! You never disappoint! Absolutely love your channel 😊 Keep it rockin!
Wow😮 this one is going to be FUN!! Hi Brandon, notification is on, see ya soon.
GORGEOUS 😮 Brandon you find some amazing places. Been watching you since you started out…Your voice is wonderful, and your descriptions are even better than before. Enjoy watching you and your channel grow Brandon❤Best of luck, stay safe❤cat x
I’ve been only watching his videos for less than a week, and I absolutely love his voice as well. It’s so soothing and I love all of his Canadian accents. They remind me of spending time in Canada with my grandma and grandpa and my step grandpa was a Hungarian and he had such a wonderful Canadian accent as well, so he does have a wonderful voice🩷
The most impressive ceiling in the entire house was next to the kitchen and you never looked up to see it. It was covered in stone, very beautiful. Those metal things coming out of the walls and that round surface were/are nozzles for water. The round thing was a holding tank and the rock covered area was an area for the water to land coming from the nozzles. Some of the equipment in the basement was to catch and treat the water for the fountains.
Love your videos. Great commentary. Always leaves me smiling. Thanks!
nice place, too fancy for my liking lol. the ceiling bracing might be from structural damage do to water leakage or the weight load from above was too much for the floor joist maybe, the other room that is stripped of dry wall i would think water damage also, depends on what rooms are above it. drawing safety handles on the wall when your tired of your contractor (cause i dont think your husband is doing renoes when you have this kinda money lol) not doing it so you give then a gentle nudge reminder lmao , wonder if that room with the green board an temperature control was going to be a wine/beer cellar? just never got finished or one big walk in fridge lol, crazy place for sure, thanks for doing this one,
Such a shame to tear these beautiful places down..Minimal damages that could be fixed or at least recover items, wood etc and resell, donate, etc…The smart systems are your boilers for hot water heat..
I think those metal things were lights, hon and I loved those round doors and I loved all those glass showers and those kofford ceilings were just stunning. Such a beautiful, beautiful house. Another one bites the dust. What a shame great job exploring. Thank you for taking us along 🩷
Very interesting history there. This will be fantastic. 😮😎
What kind of profession would someone be in to be able to afford such luxury?
He put that up there in the description. I was wondering the same thing. Firelogs!
That first wooden den type room, I would've loved to have seen the floor! I guess you can't think of everything especially when you are in the midst of something like that. I've seen it before but I can't remember by whom. Good work.! ❤
That upstairs room with the ladder in it, is a laundry room, not a kitchen! Beautiful home #Brandon, thanks for taking a chance showing it to us! Stay safe brother! ❤
Beautiful lovely Mansion i love the big bathrooms wonderful❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Happy new year wow wat a big great house it's a real shame it's abandoned must of cost alot to build but its a old place you can tell enjoyed watching this looking forward to wat I have for us nexted keep up the good work mate
Wow, this house is absolutely stunningly beautiful. I love the bathtub with the curved glass roof. Another beauty you can get hopelessly lost in. I now know why there are so many toilets in these big houses. 😆😉
I can't believe this magnificent building is being demolished. Another loss of an absolutely wonderful building. Thank you for this fantastic and breathtaking exploration, Brandon. ❤️
Thank You for the house tour. This place reminds me something out of the PBS series Downton Abbey. Brandon you are really cute and handsome. You are very nice guy and so gracious for doing these abandon home tours.
Thanks Brandon! This place is just magnificent! It's such a shame that it was built with faulty areas like the roof. One bad roof over a phenomenal house is bye bye house. Would be wonderful to find out that some people got to reuse a lot of what's left - the crown moldings, the hardwood bookcases, even the hardware from all the doors and cupboards. They were quite nice!
My absolute favorite part of the home was the huge glorious kitchen. The things I could do in there!!
Smart system is heating system for underfloor heating an heating hhot water
Hey Brandon Thanks for posting the video and this house to bad they left it like that i wonder what happened to them ❤
I can never understand why someone would want a house this big no matter how rich you are. I don’t care how much money I have, I would prefer a cottage on the beach above this monstrosity any day. Such a waste to tear it down. High society! Have to keep up with their peers. Anyway, great explore son! Good job on covering this huge house.
This architectural mega mansion is so amazing. 😍🏡
The whole mansion is beautiful, I love it. ❤❤❤❤❤
Holy rich folks. Great video
The house 🏠 is so beautiful and the design and layout of the house 🏠 and I hate to see it being destroyed to build a new house 🏠 it just doesn’t make any sense to do away with it you are one of the best explorers 🧭 I have seen and you are so talented in what you do how is your dog 🐕 doing say hello 👋 for me to him you have a great day exploring 😮
Thank you for the awesome video, and I do appreciate it.🌻😊
WOW THATS A BEAUTIFUL MANSION. BRANDON THANKS 4 SHARING & HAPPY NEW YEAR
I believe this house had heated floors with all the water lines e erywhere. Also, the small step-down pool like thingy was a step in hot tub in the pool room. Folks won't be scrubbing Cooper much longer since most houses use plastic lines now. The smart boxes might be water softeners? Beautiful mansion, thanks for another great explore! I enjoy your explores because you go through at a good pace and your not afraid to get your hands dirty. But should wear gloves and mask. Then protected from leaving a foot print that you've been and not killing yourself breathing in the toxic shift in the air. Protect yourself! ✌️
The smart units are boilers. Lochinvar condensing boilers to be specific.
Our local Courthouse has a routundra like that. People use it to sing in Choirs every year. Just for the acoustics.
Wow, that place, Thank you Brandon. 👍🏤
Pity its going to be demolished. The one thing I really love about this place is the portal balcony. Always enjoy the explores. Keep Orange Crushing it!
Enjoyed!! ❤
Cool find, Brando Abando!! 😊
Brandon Abandoned thanks for sharing this video about this abandoned mansion it was a very beautiful place and thanks agon for sharing it with me and God Bless.
Beautiful ❤
Thanks for the great video .Sad it is going to be torn down.
Did you find the secret room? You heard about, and did you hear a general location of it?
I love that office area
Beautiful
I can see my dog chase each other through house like that. I love it never be able afford place like it.
I absolutely love that library, I can imagine myself up thee with all my favorite books sitting in a big lounge by the big windows ❤ is the smart system a whole house vacuum system?
My previous comment appears to have been deleted.
The smart units are boilers for heating. The whole house vacuum system can be seen at 29:01. They are the two round things in the upper left hand corner.
Gorgeous❤
So sad to see a beautiful home like this going to waste 😮
Whoa I love house 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️☺️😺👋👋👋
Love the kitchen
I love to see these big beautiful homes. But my dream home is one like little house on the prairie
Seeing enough of these Mansions with pools built inside the house clearly lets me know that they SHOULD be inside a SEPARATE BUILDING on the property NEVER under the same roof. More times than not MOLD finds its way into these places and demolition follows … What a WASTE !
Such a waste! I will never understand people with money and how they spend it. This is an amazing house for sure with beautiful architecture and of course a very massive house. I would for sure get lots in that house! Sad that it is being torn down. Can you imagine just how many "normal" houses could be built with that $30, 000,000 or how it could be used to take care of so many needy families! Great video for sure and I always enjoy the respect you give each property, keep these videos coming!
Think how much money in the salvage
Brandon youre very good whilst other explorers whent around the place like a headless chook waving the camera around like a roller coaster giving nausea you took your time you know your stuff. I would hate to find out that secret room was secret passage way between the mansion and the guest house across the pond. Wasteful knocking this down but again it could be structure
You must of been with Freaktography! He's a cool guy just like you. That gigantic tub is awesome ❤
Absolutely beautiful, what a waste that it's being torn down.
Nice house it is so big! Thanks Brandon.
This can easily house our largefamiesand all, allrelatipnsxoxo
Like so many wealthy people. Empty inside.
Absolutely stunning home. Typically in the US we don't tear down we just gut it and remodel.
Sup from Kentucky❤
Did i just heard a creepy sounds 8.12
Totally waste of money building a house like this, if I had that kind of money I would build small and cosy
Beautiful can't believe they are tearing it down. What a waste.
❤❤❤❤❤
I hope they let a salvage crew go in & salvage anything they can because it’s insane to demolish & build something bigger.
Hey buddy!
how can they demolish?? I enjoy your explores!!
I would like tosee more middle class and less rich opulence people in the world
📸
oh! no you didn't find the secret room 😮 all i kept thinking was yes it's all very nice but gheezzz how many cleaners would you need 🤔
Right?!
This is a Beautiful Mansion 😮
WHEN CAN I MOVE IN LOL
Wow, that's gorgeous! Too bad they're destroying it.
So when kids told, go to your room, do they get lost along the way xoxo
I wouldn't be surprised if this was a hotel
Its amazing how rich people are so wastful i mean y tere this down just remodel it to ur taste but i guess more money means less common sense
I for the life of me will never understand why anyone would want to destroy and demolish a beautiful home like these. God what a waste ❤
And no one helps homeless money etc most of my 11 siblings own, not time share, not rent very expensive properties. I am very angry and annoyed. Yes, seasonal
😮 beautiful celin
Is this for sale ?
House!
So sameone is going pullit down to build thats a waste of a beautiful home.
Cause they are greedy people I've seen so many big homes like this torn down just for the reason it wasnt their style.but if ten of these homes were donated for homeless shelters in the world mk a huge difference.but ill never own a home like this too do it so i shldnt be saying shit.my little gesture of ten turkeys and hams too salvation army every year for hot meals helps.but hey tear it down too build bigger in its spot.rediculouse
This is temple for self-worship.
How does one "re-fix" something? Or is that a Canadian thing?
