As a kid who hated playing football growing up, this is truly a title more horrifying than Darkwood could ever be
We went from horrifying monstrosities beyond human comprehension to soccer can't wait to see how this turns out.
The plot twist is that the Coach is a KGB agent responsible for turning these kids into a batch of minions that obey commands who will be responsible for the delivery of a Demon Core hidden inside a soccer ball into the middle of a German military base. Of course the kids don't know that. They always thought that soccerballs were meant to be hard and heavy.

I didn't expect them to make this, but, its a welcome suprise. At least its not the devs acting lazy and milking the Darkwood series.
Truly, they are masters at making horror.

There is only one goal - the window of a German military base. The ball is round, hard and heavy. Inside of it is a demon core. Your mission is to pretend to play a soccer match near the base and kick the ball into the window. The core will open and deliver a fatal dose of radiation to all German high-command that will be having a meeting there that day. Failure means death of both you and the Motherland. I just saw the announcement you all posted on Twitter, it’s a goddamn shame you’ll be going on hiatus for the foreseeable 5-10ish years, this wasn’t my cup of tea but I still was excited to see what it could become, I hope and wish you all bright and wonderful futures after the darkwood patch, we’ll see you again one day hopefully.

@@Бибс-ш5в 6 лет, а я ее открыл для себя только сегодня, вернее видел то тут то там, но в память запал на столько сильно при первом знакомстве, что через много лет память затребовала хорроров и напомнила о этом шедевре игровой индустрии.

As interested as I am in ANYTHING that Acid Wizards produces at this point, I still must admit:
On _some_ level, I am at least somewhat disappointed to see that the first update /new video/preview posted by them in more than four years is something *other* than _Darkwood II_ (or *at least* something related to _Darkwood...)._
Why would it be about darkwood? They already finished that game

I am as well, even more than that, Darkwood is an amazing formula for 2d horror, and kinda sad more hasn't been done with it after all these years. (it being the formula)

Another horror game would be fun though. It'd give them the freedom to experiment with themes/gameplay while striding in their domain.
Course, a tribute to Darkwood would be necessary. It's this devteams magnum opus.
Excited to see any game you guys make. Someday would you guys consider making a Darkwood rouge-like in the future? Exploring an infinite forest and making your own hideouts and finding new villages as you go and go would be really really interesting

There's already a roguelike mode for dark wood if you want to play that. I love roguelikes but I don't think the format fits everything especially not a horror game.

Please please please add a mode where you play with an empty plastic bottle instead of a ball, that would be a truly nostalgic experience! In this mode the ball would move in up to +-30 degrees in random direction when kicked! :)

But in all seriousness, good luck with this one, it’ll be a challenge to get through the people who can’t fathom a studio doing something it actually wants to do. Fingers crossed we’ll see soccer kids finished!

Gra wpadła mi w ręce przypadkiem i okazała się bardzo ciekawym i angażującym dwa wieczory rozwiązaniem. Jeśli miałbym do czynienia z pełną wersją zapewne byłoby ich więcej.
W przypadku wersji alfa liczba wieczorów wynikała z powtarzających się zawieszek gry:
- w meczu na sali gimnastycznej drużyna czarna otrzymała swoją turę i już tak zastygła w bezruchu. Pomógł restart poziomu
- w meczu na podwórku także drużyna czarna się zawiesiła w strategicznym planowaniu (tura 24 z 18) z tym, że tutaj chociaż pojawiła się animacja informująca o tym, iż nieprzerwanie rozważają kolejne posunięcia...
Mocne strony:
- rozgrywka z widokiem z góry (przypomina mi się pierwsze GTA), która budzi mój sentyment i pozwala jednocześnie panować nad rozgrywką
- klimat podwórek z późnych lat 80-tych i wczesnych 90-tych
- prostota instrukcji (czytelny podział wskazówek na kategorie, przejrzystość grafik i opisów, jasny język, formuła notatek w zeszycie)
- humor - zarówno prezentowany w pełnym uroku dystansie do tamtych czasów jak i w komentarzach młodych graczy, a pomysł na obelgi świetny!
- tutorial pod okiem WF-isty w kreszowym dresie, który swoją postawą egzekwuje wzajemny szacunek oraz konkretne zasady panujące w klasie i na boisku
- różne lokacje (sala gimnastyczna, boisko szkolne i podwórko) - ciekawi mnie bardzo gdzie będzie można zagrać w pełnej wersji gry
- w drużynie są tak piłkarze jak i piłkarki :)
Obszary do rozwoju
- wprowadzenie ścieżku dźwiękowej zbliżonej do muzyki lat z epoki (aby nie generować kosztów ZAiKS zlecić przygotowanie muzyki stylizowanej chatkowi GPT
- rozbudowanie idei wykluczania zawodników z rozgrywek ze względu na różne zmienne, np. takie jak "pała z majzy" ;) czy też uwaga w dzienniczku, niska ocena z zachowania, konieczność opiekowania się starszym bratem
- fabularne wprowadzanie nowych (lub okazjonalnych w ścieżce arcadowej) zawodników - np. przyjechała rodzina ze śląska z dziećmi to wszyscy poszli haratać w gałę, po komunii w garniturach też idziemy kopać piłę, etc.
- odbieranie zawodników drużynie (też w trybie arcadowym/fabularnym) bo np. mama woła na obiad, albo dziadkowie właśnie przyjechali, albo masz pracę domową do zrobienia, albo rodzice wrócili z wywiadówki
- proste rozwijanie postaci - max 3 cechy/predyspozycje/umiejętności
Jestem pod ogromnym wrażeniem pracy Twórców i pomysłu jakie zrealizowali. Genialne - grafiki kaset VHS jako skróty do instrukcji video to tylko jeden ze smaczków, które pokazują zaangażowanie wynikające z pasji! Moje serdeczne gratulacje.

Unexpected but cool! Appreciate you guys branching out to show your versatility, though I must admit, it feels like Ari Aster announcing that he’s making a Disney movie suddenly. ;)
The art looks fantastic. And while I’m not typically into sports games, the turn-base system is extremely interesting for the genre, giving some RTS or RPG vibes in the mechanics that I may enjoy.

I wonder if there will be some sick horrifying twist midway the game, that will completely change the whole narrative. From small things to something more dark and mysterious will start happening in the neighborhood, and then suddenly the shit hits the fan, and it's no more kids playing football, but a game of life and death. That would' be cool

For 6 years from legendary horror to mobile-like game. Cool story. Hope this game is just a fun before something truly exciting, or at least alpha is only cover for real gameplay. If not it's just a pain.

I don't think this is a good move, you guys got so much positive press from streamers for dark wood and now you abandon it. It was great series in the making and there's nothing like that in the catalog.
