      My fear with that is that people are going to be impatient with me speaking slowly and interrupt me or finish my sentences. So I speak quickly even though I know that that's the main reason why I stutter aside from anxiety. I'm a fast speaker and my mouth works faster than my brain. Slowing down my speaking feels impossible most days when my brain does not want me to:(

    • @toughlovestutter
      @toughlovestutter Год назад +12

      @Ryan_3fps it's really not something you do. It's a mindset, paradigm shift. If you look at stuttering like a fear of stuttering and treat it like you would any other fear it subsides. It never fully goes away, but you don't want it to.
      The hard part is letting go of the victim mentality and taking radical responsibility for your own condition.

      Fear is our biggest enemy in smooth talking. If pausing and starting again doesn’t work then may I suggest slowing right down and talk like you are drunk by linking every word together. See singing is never a problem until you start to talk. So why not talk like a drunk or a junkie without being one. It helps me all the time until I forget. Another thing that helps me is cardio. I do rope jumping to get rid of fear. Running apparently helps too. Find one that increases your heart rate. And do some breathing exercises . I do a yoga pose called “Lion Pose” . Helps a lot. Goodluck all.
