I don’t care that the Vikings lost the NFC championship, this is one of the greatest playoff miracles in recent memory. I look at plays like this and tears come streaming down. I’m a Patriots fan but I saw this live with my dad and we both thought Diggs was going to go out of bounds but he stayed in bounds and ran out the clock. This is the greatest miracle play ever since the Malcolm Butler interception in the Super Bowl.
@@Blaineisawarlock but in the end, isn’t it the happiness of the fans that really matters. Teams have won super bowls with less joy than that fanbase had for a split second. Fans don’t get to keep the Lombardi, they just keep the memories.
I was so happy for Keenum. Undrafted player, always viewed as a serviceable backup and nothing more, gets a chance to lead the Vikings when Bradford got hurt and created magic throughout 2017. He wasn’t a legendary player, but had a legendary play.
The sideline cam will always be my favorite, the roar of the crowd when he caught the ball and the explosion of sound when Diggs turned for the end zone loose and free. The extended ecstasy of the Vikings nation when Diggs crossed the goal line. 5 seasons later it still gives me chills.
Man, I’ve been a Vikings fan my entire life and this game was on my birthday! Unbelievable!!! Lost my damn voice after that touchdown. Still gives me chills every time I watch it!
I'd never seen the sideline angle until today, so thanks for that! The crowd noise sounds like one of those tornado chase videos when the tornado goes over the top of the car.
I’m not a Vikings fan but this was such a cool thing to witness. I still remember i was at work walking to my office and i looked over and saw this. I legit stood there for a minute and just couldn’t help but smile.
A buddy and I were there. Before the play happened we were all stunned. My head was in my hands and I stood up as they broke the huddle. As the play developed, the guy behind me just grabbed my shoulders and started shaking me in disbelief. My ears were ringing for the better part of 3 days afterwards. It’s something I’ll never forget.
This has got to be Keenums proudest moment in his life - and he got to lead a skol chant which has to be so crazy in the middle of the field! Wish we kept him
This is one of my favorite ever NFL moments. In one of very few classy moves by the Saints org, players actually came back out of the tunnel to field a meaningless PAT snap out of respect for the game. Then Keenum decided it was a perfect time for the 73,000 person Skol chant 😂
Yes, it was classy that some Saints players came back out of the locker room for the Extra Point, and this play prompted a rule change regarding that, but fuck Sean Peyton for mocking the Skol chant moments before this happened. He's supposedly Mike Zimmers friend and a pro? Nope. Douche all the way.
I will never forget for the rest of my life where I was, what I was doing, and who I was with during this. Vikings are my #2….under Philly LOL was at a bar in New Hampshire with my wife meeting up with some new friends we had made. I was going silently ballistic and no one could figure out why lol
What many people forget is New Orleans had a Tampa Miracle happen the week before!! Week 17 Jameis Winston hit Chris Godwin for a last second miracle TD to upset NO and changed their playoff seeding . Ended up costing them a home game and putting them AT Minny.
In the end, isn’t it the happiness of the fans that really matters. Teams have won super bowls with less joy than that fanbase had for a split second. Fans don’t get to keep the Lombardi, they just keep the memories.
I still remember that because he was the first to come back out on the field for that PAT and for playing through a rib injury most of the game Vikings fans donated $200K+ to Thomas Morstead's foundation. That's pretty cool if you ask me.
Case Keenum benefitted from the weapons we had on offense. If you ask which player was most responsible for the Miracle play, 99 out of 100 times people will say Diggs made that catch rather then Keenum the throw.
Vikings were crazy getting rid of Keenem! Cousins is a good quarterback but he doesn’t have the edge that the Vikings need. Viking leadership is So dumb!, no more Keenum, no more Diggs. They can kiss that Super Bowl goodbye with their continued dumb decisions.
The only thing I can think of for number 43 on this play was that maybe he thought he was gonna run into diggs too early and didnt want to get a Def. P.I call there so he ducked under. Poor guy man.
I agree 100%. In my football watching life, I have seen hundreds of calls for hitting a "defenseless receiver". I'm certain Williams was trying to avoid that penalty, which would have put the Vikes in FG range. IMO, Vikes would have won either way, so it's moot point.
Even going back to the days when the Metrodome stood on that piece of property, wild and weird things have happened at sporting events in both stadiums. Local legend has it that the Metrodome and US Bank Stadium are sitting on an ancient Native American burial ground. When the spirits are awakened, what was a football game literally becomes an episode of 'The Twilight Zone'.
The sound of our fans makes Seahawks fans blush. Amd I don't care about Keenum that much but when he said that is below the time he gave himself to Christ, that says it all
Imagine the Vikings if we just have kept Case Kenum with all of our defense intact and reinforced. But no.... lets just bring a new QB and be forced to leave with it for years to come.
I think the main thing was the weapons we had made Case more effective. By himself or with not a whole lot of talent around him he is a slightly below average QB.
Case was throwing up prayers and Diggs and Theilen were answering them. Not a style that lends itself to consistency. Case had a lucky horsehoe in his pocket all year.
@@JesusSaves8705 Feel like they picked it up, since the game was over & probably didn't think they had to do the extra point. Besides, even if the Saints blocked it & returned it, they still lose.
I wish that the outcome wasn't so dependent on a talented rookie's epic mistake. Just keeping his eyes on the 14 in front of him and wrapping him in his arms and letting his weight drop Diggs to the turf would have preserved the victory.

Historically it would have been a forgone conclusion that the Vikings miss that field goal. Do we really need to rehash Minnesota’s track record on place kicking in playoff games.
